New and thinking of switching to WW from SBD

  • Hi all! My name is Debbie, I am 29 years old and a stay at home mom and Air Force wife, living in Northern Virginia. I've lost weight with WW in the past (25 lbs before my wedding). I weighed about 145 before becoming PG with my daughter, who just turned 2. I gained about 50 lbs. (up to 190s at the highest) during pregnancy and now weigh 168 and can't seem to lose it. I've tried South Beach a few times and lost and gained the same 10 lbs. (170s to 160s and back again). I'm considering trying WW again. Anyone have any advice or tips? I am currently finishing up my second week of Phase 1 on SBD and have lost only 1-2 lbs.
  • Debbie, Hello! I too am in Northern Virginia and ironically also started on SBD, then went off after gaining a few pounds back. Honestly I missed having beer now and again. (giggle) I have been doing WW online now since the summer, and have lost around 28 pounds. I dropped off once, gained a few pounds back and rededicated myself in October and have since lost 13 pounds! I'm very modivated and loving every minute of it. Are you interested in a "diet buddy"? I am in the Sterling Park area, and another ironic thing.. you are an airforce wife... my boyfriend of 2 years is retired airforce, he served for 20 years and is now working as a contractor. . .

Drop me a line if you like, or shoot me an im on yahoo I'm on all day! Silvergirl1019

  • I was on SB for a bit and had the same issue -- losing 10-15 and gaining and losing. So far, I've only had to lose the same 5 pounds twice and am on the next five now Welcome - from another NoVa person!
  • Thanks for the replies! I am convinced that switching back to WW is the best for me. I'll be checking back in!
  • I too was on sbd before and lost an gained, I will say I learned from sbd what satisfys my hunger...protein! Take that into consideration..processed foods make you crave more sweets..take that into consideration. I love the points system it is fun and easy to follow! Welcome
  • I did a WW/SBD combo before WW came out with the core program and it worked quite well. I just incorporated the SBD menus and recipes and counted the points for them.

I find that if I eat a lot of rice/potatoes/bread I tend to gain. The great thing about SBD was that it encouraged eating fresh food and cooking for yourself.

I still eat like that and stay away from processed foods and pre-packaged meals and snacks.

I'm sure you could switch over and still eat lower carb if you follow the Core Program or make menus for yourself that have less carbs.
  • I am a combiner too, but am combining Sonoma with Points. It's working...I was on SBD but didn't feel well on it. Since I'm a semi-vegetarian (I do eat dairy, eggs, and fish), I really need whole grains and beans to remain healthy, so SBD did not cut it for me. Sonoma's healthy, fresh foods are just the ticket, and I control the calories by following Points.
