New to Weight Watchers

Hi, I'm new to this site...love it :) and having browsed around, I have decided to do the weight watchers plan. I live in an area that doesn't have weight watchers, and am unable to afford it online. I plan to get recipe books from the library. I am confused about the point thing. How do you know how many points you are allowed each day? and how do you know how many points foods are? I am 225 & 5' 5". Can anyone advise me. I really want to do this & feel it muchbetter than calorie counting which was always my downfall. Felicity

If you plan to do it at home, i would heartily invite you to go to one meeting (unless it's 3 hours away ;) ). That way, you get almost everything you need to know in the ifrst week info- how to do points, how many points you get a day, etc. :)

I would also recommend dwlz.org - a great website with a lot of good info.

Good luck! :goodluck:

You can try ebay for the getting started book. That's how I started up again.

Good luck! :D

Your point target will be 26. It's actually 28 points for 225-249 lbs, but I would just begin with a point target of 26 since you're right on the edge.

Hi, Thanks to everyone for for the replies & info. What is the name of the book? I'll try ebay, I'm an ebay junkie LOL. I am determined to lose 50lbs by the end of May. When I see everyone's progress it's a great motivator.

ebay is a rip off! its much cheaper to pay for 1 week.

I've gotten some really good deals on Ebay, but I've also been taken a couple of times. You just have to be careful and read feedback. Don't deal with anyone with less than 99% + feedback. That is my policy, anyway.

i mean specifiocally for ww stuff....ive seen ppl charge 30 something dollars for the week 1 book

Freedom&Light 01-08-2006 12:12 PM

Exactly. Right now, there is a free registration in our area, so you can join for the weekly $14. Meaning, instead of paying $30 for the points slider and week 1 book, you can get it for $14 (or probably less, depending on where you are- I livein an expensive area).

Good luck!!!!! :goodluck:
