Laurel - I have considered going to the doctor, but then I wonder if I should be seeing my regular family doctor or someone that deals with mental maladies.... :D

I have heard that a symptom of menopause is sleeplessness & I wonder.... I am only 40 & the women in my family don't go thru menopause at an early age, but one never knows. I am due for a mammogram this fall & may wait until then to discuss with the doctor then.

kt: are you going to bed at the same time as before you had this insomnia? I'm feeling for you, but if you want to take my dog for a walk in the wee hours, he would much appreciate it.

Seriously, maybe you need to see a doc.

oh yeah, we love skinny cows!

KT - I think by the fall, the bags under your eyes might be scraping the ground (what an unpleasant image). Maybe you can call the gyne and discuss over the phone???

Hey there all:

OK I'm confused... it's 11am here out in California... how can it be Friday evening already out there? It seems like I'm in the twilight zone. I know I'm hopeless timewise but help me out...

Are you guys putting in yesterday's info hrer - eg Thursday, or Fridays?

FYI - My supermarket out in California - Pavillions/Vons did not have the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches - so I asked the Manager to get them - and he did;) ;) ;) - remember they are there to serve YOU!

Also a gal in my WW group told us about Hagen Daz Choc Frozen Sorbet Pops. There only 1 point each. They taste like dark chocolate fudgecicles.

lalala & Laurel -
You guys are too funny! Yes, I am pretty consistent about going to bed at the same time, so I don't think that's it. I may just have to give my doctor a call & she what she thinks.

Patch - re: the time difference - maybe you need to go into your profile & make sure you have the correct time zone of Pacific for you out in California. I don't remember what the default is, but if you don't update it to yours, it is at some funky time zone that I don't think anyone lives in. :D

i may be confusing you because I put down what I plan to have for dinner in the morning - just planning ahead!

lalala 07-06-2001 04:41 PM

ditto on the planning ahead. The default time zone is GMT, so 8+ hours from PDT. I guess its because Suzanne is running her board from Lincolnshire.

okay, i have now consumed all my points for the day in starches.

sigh.

Thanks - I'd never have figured this out

Thanks lalala, Laurel, and Katie... I've changed the time option on my profile and am now in the real world. Boy what a dweeb I am.

KT - re - sleepless nights, I've found that my wonderful DH (I'm married 3 years)- who I wouldn't trade for the world... is a real toss and turner, and snorer :?:. I wake up at least a couple of times at night. It probably isn't what's keeping you up, but I figured I'd share anyhoo. I find that a small glass of warm milk relaxes me enough to fall back to sleep. :dz: And I agree with lalala and LM that you owe it to yourself to at least call your doctor and/or gyno and see if they have any suggestions.

lalala - I have a problem with carbs too - I just love 'em. and I do not want to give them up. But one of my heartfelt goals is that I desperately want to fit back into my bathing suit by mid August. So what can I do for leverage? I've just hung it on a door knob at home and every time I pass it, I'll force myself to imagine all that pasta, bread, rice and chips hanging on my hips    .

Here's Friday so far... I'm going away for the weekend and probably won't be able to enter again until Monday.

Morning
3/4 bagel - 3
cof - 1

Midday
Vietnamese lunch
1 c vermicelli rice noodles - 3 (normally I'd eat 2 cups worth)
grilled thin bitesize beef pieces - 3
cucumber and raw sprouts - 0
fish "juice" - 1
hot tea - 0
passed on the egg roll :smug:

Dinner
yet to come... :?:

subtotal: 11

Thanks again for being there guys.

Katie,

Regarding insomnia. There are some herbal supplements that really work. Kava kava is real relaxing and helps to get you to sleep, although it does not necessarily keep you asleep, which is my problem. I just began using another supplement 5-HTP and have been sleeping through the night. Plus it has another benefit. It helps you control stress-related eating. I've never been so much in control of my points, at least not since I regained my weight this time around. If you want additional info on the 5-HTP I have an article about it that ran in Natural Health. E-mail me at [email protected] and I will send it to you.

Here is my journal:

Morning
soy butter 2
rice cakes 1

Midday
zucchini 0
glazed carrots 2
broccoli in cream sauce 3
mashed potatoes 4
rice cake with soy butter 2

Evening
bean burrito 6
beans with cheese 2

Total 22
Exercise: weight training and step class
