I need help!

During the XMAS vacation my hubby and I drive to his parents and stay there for 4 days. They dont exactly cook the healthiest food. What do I do? Do I cook my own XMAS dinner and try not to hurt their feelings. They know I am dieting and they still cook the fattiest things. Do I go shopping and fill their fridge with the stuff I can eat? I am at a loss. During Thanksgiving it was a wreck. I ate their food and desserts. If anyone know s a way out ,please help!

You can just do what I do and let them know you really need to stick to your diet,so you will be bringing your own food

Is there anything close to healthy that they do make. Just try to find out what she is making ahead of time so you can figure out the points for Christmas.

During Thanksgiving they made Green beans. I thought " Ok, these are gonna be great!" I found out the added bacon to them. They take healthy things and turn them fatty. They tell me, "It's (holiday), live a little. It's only one day". Then it's ruined for the whole weekend

I bring healthy desserts to my in-laws so that I know its something I can eat. Strangely enough, other people eat my desserts too so it must not offend anyone. I also bring veggie platters with me so I can snack on those things too. If all else fails, bring healthy snacks with you to eat in between meals and then go light on the meals when you eat them?

Since it is 4 days and not just holiday dinner, I would go shopping and purchase food that you can eat. All you can do is control your choices. I also think you would be wise to try to stay "under the radar" with your eating, don't make a big deal about how "fatty" their food is, since that is likely to cause resentment, and you will receive even less support.

Thanks guys.I will try my best with your help. I think I will just go buy food at the market and cook it.

I would go ahead and bring some basics.....whole wheat bread, lean luncheon meat, box of cereal, skim milk.....that would have you covered for breakfast and lunch. Try to stick with the non processed/sauced dishes....plain (skin removed) turkey, plain vegetables, salad without their dressing (squeeze of lemon)....HANG IN THERE!!! you can do this!!!
