I would love to join this group.

Calpurrnia 07-11-2005 08:31 AM

Meg & Tina: Hi! :) Well, I personally don't have a problem with either of you joining our little group. The more the merrier, right? It's nice to meet you both!

Lizzyg 07-11-2005 08:59 AM

Hi! Can I join too?

I've been here at 3fc since the beginning of June, and have been actively counting points since June 6th. I'm doing WW at home, because I cant afford to pay for either online or meetings.

My name is Liz, and I just turned 24. I've lost 11 pounds since the beginning of June, and my goal is to get down to 200 and then re evaluate how I feel about myself, and my weight and decide if I need/want to loose anymore. But my ultimate goal is to be able to shop in regular stores and not have to go to the 'plus size' stores or sections. And I was able to do that at 200 lbs.

Well! You chickies have been busy getting to know each other while I was away camping!! Oh, please say the group isn't too big already- I want in, I want in!! I've already posted a few times already, and I recognize some of you from other threads, so if there's room for one more, I'm on board!

Here's my (brief!) intro- I'm 31 and just about to finish grad school- um, yeah, I took some time off in between the BS and MA to get married and it turned out that didn't suit me, so here I am now in grad school, older than everyone else! Anyway, I have a darling 5 year old son and I want to set a good example for him- healthy eating, exercise and the whole shebang. I'm also fed up with fretting about my outfit everytime I leave the house! I topped out at 212 and have lost 14 lbs since starting 4 weeks ago- and I'm still pumped! I usually fall off the diet (believe me, I've done this WW thing a million times) around week 6, and here I am in week 5, so this support group is a well timed blessing!

OK! I'm off to swim for an hour! I'll check in with you all later...

Lori

Hi Liz and Lori! :) *giggles* I don't think the group is too big! It's funny...when I read your requests to join, I suddenly flashed back to those god-awful sorority days. ;) I'm kidding...but of course you can join us! :) Welcome!

Liz: Oh man, I know exactly how you feel. One of my friends just got married, and I was so embarrassed when shopping for a dress because I HAD to go to August Max Woman just because I couldn't fit into any other dresses at the other stores. I think your goal to 200 is a very good one! :) You'll make it!

Lori: I'm starting my second year on my MA! What/where are you studying? I'm studying English Lit. (concentration in Early Modern drama and prose fiction) at Auburn University (Alabama). Congratulations on getting back into school. I'm tossing around the idea of taking some time off between my MA and my Ph.D, but I'm not sure if I'd have the will power to come back. Was it very difficult for you to get back into the swing of things?

Congratulations to you both for the weight loss you've had so far! :)

For my little introduction. . .

I was always around 150 in high school and always trying to get down. I made it to 135 once on an Atkins-type diet, but gained it right back when I started eating sugar again. When I got married (155ish), I tried on and off with no real plan/schedule and lost on and off accordingly. Last year I gained 25 pounds. Can not say specifically why, but hey, it happened. Now I am ready to get it all off. Two months ago, I was married and living in my own home in a small town/village with a decent job and new but great friends. Now, my husband is filing for divorce, I am in a little apartment (and have to find my own soon!), have a rotten part-time night job, am in a huge city, and have no friends. My support system is Zero. My friends got me started on WW and were all, "don't forget to keep in touch!" but unfortunately have not kept up their end. My family is far away and does not know about most of the things, so I am really on my own right now. I really feel like each day there is someone kind of out to get me. If it is not my husband criticizing me for something, it is my sister spazzing out of nowhere, or my boss in a bad hormonal mood, et cetera. That is why I could really use this group for some accountability. I figure if I can get through it through hard times, then if I get back to easier times, it will be ever simpler. ;) Also is a big motivation. . .can not wait to prove to the negativiters that I can do it. I am currently doing the regular WW plan. I walk about half an hour to work and half an hour back. (If calculated correctly, it is almost two and a half miles total roundtrip.) Other than that, I do not do any regular exercise, but I do have a nice exercise room that I push myself to every now and then. My high goal is 180, weight right now 169, goal for the end of the month 165, and overall goal for 125-135.

Hey, girls, if no one minds, I'd like to join too. At 43, I might be the senior member! This group has members in all parts of the world, different ages, etc., but one thing I do see in common is a good attitude, the kind that makes women of all ages, body types, races, creeds, etc., downright sexy. For a name, how about the Sassy Lassies? Reminds me of that Maya Angelou poem I posted a few days ago.

Anyway, as I said, I'm 43. I have an incredible, bright and funny 19-year-old daughter with purple hair and a passion for changing the world; I have a dear, sweet, wonderful SO; I also have two cats (Jinxie Bell and Linus; otherwise known as *****y McChew Chew and Linoo) and an iguana named Sid, 'cause he's vicious.

I'm an editor and writer, and I live in Philadelphia. I've been overweight my whole adult life. But I look at pictures of myself in my 20s, when I thought I was gross and obese, and I didn't look that bad after all. LOL

My highest weight was 264, current is 255.something, and my goal is 140-145. I've been going to WW for two weeks and do the flex plan.

I'm very open and I talk a whole, whole lot, which you probably already noticed! I also have a tendency to be bawdy, but I keep that contained on message boards because, well, I have to! LOL

Calpurrnia 07-11-2005 01:43 PM

Hello everyone! :) I'm also really excited to see how much this has grown--and so quickly, too!

Hippo: Don't you worry about the support group--you've definitely got one here! :) We'll help keep you accountable, definitely.

Everyone: I have a question. How do you think we might best keep ourselves and each other accountable? Should we do like a daily "how many points I used today" kind of thing and/or a weekly weigh-in calculation? I really think the best thing we can do for each other is to be honest about anything we're struggling with, too. That way we can offer advice or at least support for one another. :)

So, what do you guys think? :)

angela095 07-11-2005 01:59 PM

Hey y'all!! I just stumbled across this site and it looks awesome! I am starting Weight Watchers tomorrow--online that is. I would love to be part of a group for accountabilties sake, and to give/get support on this weight loss journey. So that being said how would this group work? Do we post our daily food intake? Weekly Weighins?

I am soooo motivated!!!! Lets start losing!!!
