Good morning.

Roya died about an hour ago. She was at home with us. I am relieved and sad.

lala, I'm so sorry. I'm glad that you were there.

Lala: Sending you hugs...losing a pet is difficult. :grouphug:

lalala 05-19-2005 03:51 PM

Thanks for all your thoughts and hugs. I appreciate it. Left my training early, that is okay. We didn't sleep at all last night, so we are all exhausted. Its raining on and off, so if it stops I may garden a little to mend my heart.

The house is very quiet and the dog seems sad (he is sitting on their mutual cat/dog bed). DP and I are having our bouts of sadness and tears.

She died around 5 am, we couldn't really do anything until 7:30, so we went for a walk. It was probably the best thing we could do.

I'm not really hungry, but I ate two donuts today. They are the only thing that sound and taste good. Is that wierd or what?

Our former next door neighbor called, she's also the receptionist at the vets, we had a good remembrance session. We have decided that we're going to dig a new iris bed and scatter her ashes in it. That will be how we celebrate her long and glorious life.

I'm thinking of taking a short nap and then maybe hitting the gym to sweat out some sadness if the rain doesn't let up.

I'm hoping that tomorrow will be easier for all of us.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your pet. I had to put my little female Sheltie down in Dec after she developed a very bad infection virtually overnight. She was only 7 and it happened out of the blue. I take things like that very hard. I have had to perform that duty too many times over the past 20+ years and it never gets any easier. My older male Sheltie (13yrs) has really aged considerably since Dec. They were really close.

Take care and I hope the days get better for you.

Thank you MRSKMS.

We gardened for a while, that helped.

lala, gardening is good therapy, isn't it?

Well, ladies, I'll be gone the rest of the day. I have to wait for a repairperson to fix the Dish antenna or whatever. On tap for the weekend, golf tournament for my professional group (pray for no rain); and hopefully some shopping. I also hope to rein in my eating. We had customers here all week and that means lots of food, dinners out, etc. I tried to put on my tightest jeans this morning and barely got them zipped. [sigh]

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi all.

I'm up, took half a sleeping pill -never have done that before, probably wouldn't again. I think I'll be home today. I have to work on a paper, but I can do that from home. Nothing on tap for the weekend except gardening in the ppatch, working on my class paper, spending time with DP and Jacques and tackling our basement bedroom to declutter a bit.

My parents are here this weekend. I may spend a bit of time with them. I am glad they are here as Roya lived with them for a few years and they loved that cat.

Lisa -- rain rain go away (its all here), good luck golfing, eat only half of your dinner, don't drink any alcohol, and don't buy any think implusive. :)

Hi to everyone, sorry I'm being such a downer. It'll get better, right?

No major plans for the weekend. We'll be heading to the Highland Games on Saturday and watch the rugby tournament.

Did I tell you DS #1 played last Saturday? He enjoyed playing but ended up getting hurt. He has a fractured wrist and this morning we had an appointment with a orthopedic doctor and now he's in a full case :( I've seen numerous games and have watched his dad play for 23 years without injuries and his first game he gets hurt *sigh* I feel so bad for him because it's his right hand and he loves to bowl. Hopefully this won't be too bad for him. We go back next Friday for more x-rays to see if it's healing right. DH also went in to the orthopede today for his knee, which had swollen up considerably and he had fluid drained. Geesh!

I'm ready for my family to be on the "wellness" path...it's exhausting!

Lala Yes, it does get better; I will admit when I look at pictures of Springsteen (my sheltie) I still feel a pang. He was my companion while DH worked nights and went everywhere with me.

Lisa: I posted the link to the Royal and Southern Belles info. Denise, the owner, at the Royal is wonderful. They've expanded the gift shop area and the tea room is very nice. You can get info at www.teamap.com

Hi to Pam & Susan!
It's a beautiful, sunny day here and the temps are still a bit cool (64) but at least it's not raining. Have a great weekend!

Yes it will get better. It is very hard for anyone who hasn't had a pet to get so attached to to understand just how hard it is to let go. Over the years we have had 2 Irish Wolfhounds that developed cancer, a 13 yr old cat who developed cancer, one cat that developed a urinary blockage, and several more cats and dogs that have gotten sick or dissapeared. I just always try to think of them in a better place and for the one's who were starting to suffer here I just keep thinking at last their suffering is over.

Take care and hopefully your Seattle skies will brighten and shine down on you.
I have been lucky anytime I have been to Seattle it was beautiful and sunny.

Lala I'm so sorry to hear of Roya's passing. It is very difficult to lose such a long time companion. I'll be thinking of you and hoping you begin feeling better soon.
