Lifetime Question
Hi everyone! My name is Angela, and I'm on the Core plan. I have a question regarding Lifetime. My WW range is 109 - 131. I'm currently at 133. Once I get to within my range, what then? My understanding is that I set a goal weight within the range, and it would be in my best interest to pick a goal that's high within my range, like 130. Then if I manage to stay no more than +2 from that goal for 6 weeks, then I'm lifetime? Is this right? What if my personal goal (120) is lower than that? Can I keep working towards my personal goal but achieve my lifetime in the meantime? Or do I have to stay at my WW goal for 6 weeks, not losing more during this time?
I want to ultimately get to 120, but I also really want to get my lifetime, so I don't have to pay anymore! :D Thanks for your help guys, and hopefully I'll come join you all soon. Angela |
Angela,
That's correct. Pick a lifetime weight you can live with and get through your six weeks. Then you stop paying, but you can continue to go the meetings for free and keep going to your personal goal. I did the exact same thing. My lifetime target is 170 (I'm 6' tall), but I wanted to get below 160, which I managed to do. Good luck to you and good job on your loss. |
Angela:
My life time goal was 134. I met that (you had to stay below for six weeks before you became a lifer) but continued to lose until I reached 115 which is where I feel I need to be. |

Your understanding for geting "free status" is correct HOWEVER Weight Watchers suggest that you be where you really want to stay at before beginning your maintenance plan BECAUSE the purpose of those 6 weeks is to LEARN how to maintain and stay the same. WWers adds points and monitors your weight so at the end of the 6 weeks...............you should be staying pretty much the same. They allow a 2 pound difference even on the 6th week if you are within 2 points of the goal you chose you become a FREE Lifetime member. Many do make the choice to continue to lose during that 6 week period but then have a tendancy to think they have "arrived" and have not really learned maintenance. I have seen this happen time and time again.so just be careful.................and remember you are not really experiencing the maintenance stage if you are not adding points during this time. YES.you will still get your LT status. Just BE SURE that when you hit the weight you really want to STAY at then find out how to do maintenance! ;) Keep in mind EVERYONE wants to lose a few more pounds and have a little "buffer"!!! :D :D :D Good Luck! ;) |
Yes the importance of learning to MAINTAIN can't be stressed enough. You need to learn what your body can tolerate or not in order to stay within the 2lb limit of goal.
I would suggest not setting your goal too low also, It is important that it is a weight that you can stay at without struggling. I would suggest that you try to do your maintenance and then if you really feel you need to lose a few more lbs concentrate on that later. You will likely find that you do continue to lose a bit through maintenance also. Once you have got your lifetime remember to return for regular meetings or WI. Don't be stupid like me and feel embarrased to come back because I let myself get over goal I thought I could do it on my own and go back after I was within goal NOT!! Good Luck. |
