I have not been able to get a book with the WW points........does anyone out there have the list of points online?

Kelly_S 05-16-2001 02:17 PM

If you have the nutritional info...

you really don't need a point book. Use a point finder or the following formula (those with a different 'easier' formula list yours too):

(calories / 50) + (fatgrams / 12) - (fibergrams [capped at 4 if you follow Winning Points] / 5) = points

If you are looking for restaurants try dottisweightlosszone.com and at Dotti's message board under the General area you can request someone send you a desktop version of the pointsfinder. ;)

Calculating Points

Kel.............must be dumb but I don't understand the formula. Can you write a veryyyyyyyy detailed explanation? Thanks

Kelly_S 05-17-2001 10:42 AM

Sure....

Take the calories and divide by 50; then take the fat grams and divide by 12; take the fiber grams (if doing winning points you can only use 4 the older programs use it all but use common sense because calories still count) and divide by 5. Add the calorie total and the fat total then subtract the fiber total.

For example:

1 can of Slim Fast French Vanilla is 220 calories; 3 fat grams; 5 fiber grams.

220 divided by 50 = 4.4

3 divided by 12 = 0.25

5 divided by 5 = 1.00 (for the older programs) or 4 divided by 5 = 0.8

4.4 + 0.25 - 1 (old program) = 3.65 round up to 4

4.4 + 0.25 -.8 (new program) = 3.85 round up to 4

Here is another one

WisconsinMomof2 posted this on 5/15:

"Here's the formula I learned and it seems easier.

Calories x 2 divided by 100
PLUS 1/10th of a point for every gram of fat
MINUS 2/10th of a point for every gram of fiber up to a maximum of .8

Calories = 200, fat = 4g, fiber = 3g

200 x 2 = 400 / 100 = 4.0
4x 1/10 =+0.4 and 3 x 2/10 =-0.6
So add 4.0+.4=4.4 minus .6=
_______
TOTAL POINTS 3.8

And another...

This is another formula that works, and you only have to do division once.

Start with calories
Add 4x fat grams
Subtract 10x fiber grams (up to 4 grams)
Divide the total by 50 and round up.

WW Points

dottisweightlosszone is great and has great WW points. I found another site that is also quite good. I think it might have all the same information but I'm not sure. It lists the WW points for foods alphabetically and then by category. Give it a look......

Good Luck,
