Hey there! Can I introduce myself? I'm Kathy, a WW CORE member who has basically reached my size goal but am not quite to my weight goal. I'm looking for maintenance tips so I've been trying to browse thru the posts in this forum.
Any help is mucho appreciated! |
Lala I hope Jacques is feeling better. I think starting a book club is a great idea.

Here it is after 5PM and I could finally take a break to post here. Geezh--my little fingers are worked to the bone!
lala, a book club sounds great. Sorry about Jacques; hope he's better soon. My birds are just ornery. They're not too happy as DH has been working a lot and I've been out in the evenings at my rehearsals. Pam, that is a book that sounds right up my alley. I love novels with also historical information. I have learned a lot in books like that. I'm glad you didn't get any snow. Goodness knows you folks have had enough. We're expecting a cold spell here starting tomorrow--30's at night (Brrr). |
Kathy, welcome. We must have been posting at the same time; I didn't see your earlier post. Maintenance is difficult at first. Your brain tells you "hey, you reached goal!" and then you think you can eat the way you used to. Not true; however, you can add some foods, but just watch portions and keep exercising. That's my advice.

Hi Kathy,
Congrats to getting to your goal size. Feels great doesn't it? I'm not in maintenance mode, still in losing, but I think its both psychological and physical change and it takes a while to get the hang of it.. lala |
Ugh,
I cannot tell you the day I have had, but suffice it to say I would never buy a SUV and I will never park next to a column and I probably have about 700 bucks worth of body work to do on my parents car. Shh. Don't tell them. This is the only redeeming thing about being old and having some form of savings, you can deal with old dogs and minor car damage... Well, time to let mr. jacques out again. lala |
Hi everyone! It's been a crazy few days here and I can finally breathe! We had freshman grades to get mailed out, letters to students, and our orientation stuff all due at the same time...phew! I'm glad that's behind me! It's been pretty busy and the weather has been cold/snowy. Yesterday I only worked a half day since I had to take my mother to the doctor in Cranberry, PA (about 2 hours away) for a evaluation on her back. The surgeon would like to do surgery and the recovery is 3 months.
Kathy: Welcome to our board!! Best advice I can give you is to continue doing what you did after you reach your goal in order to maintain it (i.e. journaling, portion sizes, 8 health habits, etc.). I work as a receptionist and members who have hit their goal/Lifetime sometimes feel they can do it on their own/go back to their old ways and find that they begin to gain again. One of the LT members said something back when I had first joined that losing weight was training for maintaining and that you need to continue to attend for however long it took you to lose weight after you reached your goal. I still continue to attend weekly meetings. Pam: We had snow yesterday and it made driving a little treacherous. I saw a tractor trailer that had jack-knifed and a SUV on its roof on my way down to the doctor with my mom. Thankfully the trip back was clearer and the snow was gone. I hope all goes well with your daughter's surgery. Lisa: Sounds like we've both been pretty busy--the good thing with that is that I don't have time to think about snacking  Lala: I hope you have a better day today! Those darn columns! How's Jacques doing? Are the meds helping him out? I didn't have a chance to post after my meeting on Wednesday but I was down 1.6# which is good--I need to lose a few more pounds and am hoping to do that! I have a quiet weekend so I'm hoping to get some things done around the house that I've been putting off. |
Thanks, all! I am really having trouble with behaving myself and sticking to what I know I SHOULD be doing! I think someone's about to get grounded if she doesn't start shaping up!
I got one of those Gazelle thingies a week or so ago and am really enjoying it, so I hope to tone up with it. I don't want to slip another size because I'm right on the verge of people telling me I'll look sick if I lose more. But that might just be their way of rationalizing the fact that they're not doing the same thing. Who knows? |
Kathy: You and I are the same height; I'm considered a small frame and I generally weigh between 135-138 and that works for me. If you're a larger size frame going to 139 might be too little. I'd ask your doctor if you're not sure. My leader gave me some great advice when I was contemplating a goal weight--she told me to pick a weight that I felt I could maintain without feeling deprived. My WW goal weight is 142 and over the past few years I've dropped into the 130's (which is where I like being). You're doing great with your weight loss!
Have a great weekend everyone! DH is on his way to LA for a couple days--he'll be back Sunday afternoon so I'll have some free time to get some things done that I've been putting off. |
Hi everyone,
I'm finally at work for a four hour stretch. This morning was crazy, dog is gimpy, but fine when it comes to sauntering into kitchen if he hears the fridge open;pt with this guy who is great and I think I'll end up stronger because of it; gettting a mind boggling estimate on the car and running back to work to deal with a few crises and then off to pick up DP from train station. Whew, all I wanted was to learn about xslt transformations.... Okay,so we know Melissa is going to have a good time doing things that we all do when our better halves are gone -- organizing, shopping and maybe watching a movie. Let's hope the weather cooperates. :) I think I'm going to get cracking on my paper for my seminar and do some running around getting rid of these bags of clothes and get my stuff ready to take to accountant. I could use that tax refund check. Let's hope its a refund. Anyone else? |
