Hi Ladies,

All this talk about scones and jam is making me hungry! I think I'm going to have a little snack after I'm done here. Well the weather is still cold and rainy, it's been like that since Sunday!!! I need some nice weather so I can get outside and do some yard work and also to get a little golf in. ;)

Domina glad your drives were good. I usually have problems with my short game also, I really have to work on the chips and putts. Your weather forecast sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm so jealous.

Melissa congrats on your loss. I'm experimenting with fast track myself this week. I'll let you know how I do. Your tea room trips sound like fun. Not too many in my area but I think I'll look around a little and see if I can find one close by. Sounds like a relaxing way to spend some time!!

Lala How's everything going with you? Hope you enjoy the haircut. I usually schedule mine for Saturday mornings and things have been so hectic lately that I forgot to write down my appointment which unfortunately was last Saturday May 1st. I completely forgot. I called Monday thinking the appointment was around the 8th or the 15th of May and wanted to know what time I was scheduled for. Yikes!! I apologized profusely and am rescheduled for the 15th. I really hate it when things get so busy I start letting things slip.

Susan hope all is well with you. How's the running going? Is your weather getting better/warmer??

Well time to go. My daughter is watching an hour of "Friends" tonight and then the interview with the cast on 20/20. She really enjoyed the show so I'm sure the finale tomorrow night will be difficult. I never really got into it that much but the episodes I did see were entertaining. Hope you all have a good night. Talk to you later.

Hi everyone. It's been hectic here at work - doing some upgrades to our internal website and trying to get a few meetings lined up for the coming weeks.

Pam: I didn't watch Friends faithfully but managed to keep abreast of most of the highlights over the years. I did enjoy it, and it will be weird not to see new shows after tonight.

Melissa: Your tea party sounds delightful, and I don't even like tea!! I'm trying fast track too this week. I find it interesting that you were not hungry; it doesn't look like much food to me, but perhaps I'll react differently once I'm really into it.

lala: I envy you your haircut. I'm trying to let mine grow out a bit so that I can try something a little different. It's very painful. It's at that awkward length where it's always in my eyes. Every day I swear I'm gonna chop it all off. Gr-r-r

Domina: Your weather does sound wonderful. We're still bouncing back and forth between warm/cool and rainy/sunny days - a typical Halifax spring.

It's official. I have shin splints. I dropped into the Running Room yesterday and spoke with one of the staff at length. The best thing to do is to ice and rest, so that's what I'm doing but it's really hard this close to race day. He assured me that I can afford to take at least a week off without too much impact on my fitness level, but I can't say I'm a happy camper. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the pain will pass.

It's sunny here today--my idea of a perfect Spring day. The temps are supposed to get up into the 70's...tomorrow is quite a different story. I'm not going to complain though.

Susan: One of my girls in the office doesn't like tea either, she put Pepsi in her tea cup :) It really does make you slow down and relax. I hope your shin splints get better; best to do as they say so you don't aggravate them more.

Pam: Tea rooms are a great way to relax and be pampered. My mom and I have taken road trips to go to tea. I haven't kept up with Friends because it's usually on during a time when I'm doing something. I may watch it this evening though.

Lala: The scones are so different in London than what you can make or find here. *sigh* I have a pack from Marks & Spencer that I really should eat before they go "bad". Are you leaving on May 21? I remember that you said you were going home as well.

Domina: Hi!

lalala 05-06-2004 01:19 PM

Hi everyone,

The birds are singing, the dog is snuffled, I did hill fast walking at the gym and its chipping day at golf! Thankfully, its sunny and not so warm.

Susan -- ouch on the shin splints, rest up and you'll recover. Any word from DH? Our ships have email service 4 times a day now, so you can keep up with all that is good and bad from home.

Pam -- I never quite understood friends, but its one of those things that I'll rent from netflix and watch a season when I have a long trip somewhere. How old is your daughter? My haircut is okay, I have yet to find a person here in Seattle that I have connected with re: hair. However, I did hit the Nordstrom Rack afterward and picked up a new skirt and pair of shorts (er, for golf and afterwork).... I did schedule my next appt. though.

Melissa -- I love tea, I need to drink more of it. I love the lapsong souchong smoky teas along with a good assam. I will be drinking tons of it in Iran, I will be so happy to get back to London for a cup of coffee.

Domina -- can you send a few degrees of warmth my way? I need to put my tomatoes in.

Anyone have any wild plans for the weekend? Its mother's day!

lala

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're having a good Thursday. The sun is shining here so at least things are a little brighter in this part of the country. I got some sad news..I golf in a foursome every year in our company's annual golf tournament. It has been the same little foursome for the past 5 years and we're all about the same level of golfer, so things work out well. Unfortunately one won't be able to play this year. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall and is still not feeling up to it. I thought things were going better, but apparently she is still having problems. She's a very private person and doesn't like to talk about it much but I'm very concerned for her. Sorry to bring this up, I don't want to bring everyone down, but it is so on my mind.

Melissa I'm glad your weather is so nice. This weekend should be nice here also so I definately want to do things outside. Hope you have a nice Mother's Day. :)

Susan Take care of the shin splints. I heard they can be painful. Try not to push it to hard with the running. I have the same dilemma as you with hair. I'm trying to let mine grow out also but it is very frustrating.

Lala my daughter is 15 and I'm finding it to be a somewhat challenging age. All she's interested in is getting her learners permit in September when she turns 16! I can't imagine what my car insurance will be like with 2 young drivers ( my son is 19) on the policy. :o Good shopping at Nordstroms!! One of my favorite stores, I only wish it was closer.

Hi Domina!!

Take care everyone.

Domina 05-07-2004 08:14 AM

Melissa, congrats on your loss. That's great. You and lala are making me hungry for scones.

This weekend will be busy (again). I have a wedding to coordinate on Saturday, then a play to attend that night. On Sunday, I'm in a concert.

Hello to Pam and Susan.

Seasaw 05-07-2004 09:39 AM

'mornin all. A fine sunny day here and a good forecast for the weekend.

It's been nuts here at work; I haven't been able to keep up much with posts but hope to be more attentive next week.

I will try a run tomorrow morning (Sat.) and decide from there whether I will attempt 20 km on Sunday. I really want to do it but I know there'll be no gain if I haven't healed. Sigh - this really requires patience.

I got a nasty little surprise after work yesterday. Someone hit the mirror on my car. The good news is - they left a business card! That took most of the sting out of it, especially since I only noticed it (the card) on the drive home. Anyway, I'll be taking the car in for an estimate.

lala: No news from DH since Sunday. They claim to have email, but it's hit-or-miss from what I can tell. Oh - wait - I got an anniversary card from him in the mail on Wednesday, complete with his own little poem about being Italy and away from me. What a sweetheart he is!!

Domina: You have another busy weekend lined up I see. Have a good one.

Melissa: Congrats on the loss.

Pam: Yikes - insurance with two teenagers must be incredibly high. Speaking of cars, have gas prices increased in the US? We're paying 93.6 PER LITRE here for the cheapest grade. I think it's over a dollar for premium, full-service. There are a lot of people re-evaluating their relationship with the automobile and I think that's a good thing for the planet.

I weigh-in tomorrow. Don't have high expectations but it has to be done :(
Other than that, I don't have great weekend plans. Chores around the house, perhaps coffee with a friend on Sunday, and of course running if I'm lucky.

lalala 05-07-2004 01:08 PM

Susan -- They were nice enough to leave a card. Good for them, their mother taught them right. Good luck on your run. I think the problem with having email on the ships is that you learn to expect a message at every chance instead of being surprised when a message comes via telex or fax. ooh, I am soo dating myself. I remember when you used to get messages from ships only when there was bad news.

Pam-- I got a phone call last night from a girlfriend in Philly offering to tell me how the last episode went. I think she just wanted to chat. How did it go? I think girls at any age can be difficult. I like to call my mom on occasion and thank her for putting up with my cr-a-p in my teens. I still give her grief once in a while.

Melissa -- Do the boys have something nice planned for you?

Domina -- How are things going?

Its rainy here. Nice as the garden needs it. DP is taking jacques to the accupuncture this morning. It was a challenge getting him into the car, he knew where he was going.

I'm going to San Diego this weekend to hang with the 'rents and I thought pick up the stuff that I was going to take on my solo trip to Iran. My mom called me on Monday and said that she was coming with me, good thing I could get her a ticket with two weeks notice! So, now I am going to get fitted for a overcoat thingie, have my wardrobe scrutinized and see my dad who I haven't seen since early Feb. I would love to spend the weekend at home, but its okay, at least there will be shopping.

lala
