Howdy all,

Spring has definitely sprung here. Can't even stand under a tree without being covered in inchworm, baby spiders, and unidentifiables.

Hang in there with that boss trouble, this too shall pass. And you'll be all the wiser.

Lauren, we are neck and neck today. Got my 60lb star and am well on the way to the next one. That is, if I avoid the stupidity of going off-program.

Kathy -hope your computer, son, and home life are all better very soon. You're probably out mowing the yard, anyway. (which is what I have to go do in a second)

Signed my brat up for the swim team this summer. Found out it starts May 1st ! After school practices and Saturday meets. I guess I'm gonna have to change my WW meetings cause Saturdays will be out for awhile. Wah! And after I so carefull cultivated this group. Went to the 2nd WI today. This group is very different from my early one. Only about 15 folks and not a bit perky. My cowbell was definitely out of sorts. But the leader used me as a poster child since few of the members had seen me. Gee, that's what we call a member in the early session who just made goal. Lost over 90 lbs in a little over a year. I coulda done that, but I took the scenic route.

Gotta go wake up the lawnmower. Y'all stay sweet and drink that water!!

Yea, Dora! 60lbs is great! You just keep right on going downward since I seem to follow your lead . By the way, how do you get in 30+ miles of walking. I'm lucky if I can carve out the time for 2 miles a day.

Back to work today. Had a big pile of work waiting for me and it just kept getting added to all day long. How depressing. Then went to help a friend with taxes. Can't believe it's almost the 15th.

I about choked a woman at work today. I was in the break room filling up my water bottle. She was in there with a bunch of people having lunch. It started out fine when she asked if I had lost weight. I said yes, thank you. And then she asked how much, which I would never ask someone, but I told her and she just went on and on about what a "ton" that was and how great it was, etc. I felt so conspicuous, and not in a good way since I've lost a "ton" and it's obvious I still have a good bit to lose. So I'm standing there thinking, 'now everyone knows just what a fat cow I was'. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't think she was trying to be malicious, but I wish people would be a bit more tactful. Anyway, at least on the bright side, I got a compliment today, even if it didn't quite feel like one.

Off to exercise.

Hi Michele - I could relate to what you posted. I make it a point never to discuss how much I've lost for just that reason. I've found that if I answer even one question about my weight, it gives someone license to ask more and more intruding questions. I've even had neighbors reveal that my weight loss has been a topic of discussion and they were trying to figure out how much I had lost. They guessed around 10 pounds and I had lost 35. I don't understand why it matters to anyone else. Good for you that you have risen above such comments. I say, 'now now, if you bring up my weight, I'll have to bring up your wrinkles.' I'm not advocating this is someone is truly well-meaning, but sometimes you must fight fire with fire. Now that my weight is off-limits, my neighbor said yesterday, 'My God, your hair is getting sooooooooooo gray.' Mind you, I have about 10 gray hair and I'm only 34. She's 59 and colors her hair. I just don't get some people. So I put distance between us and I'm still following the program and coming here for POSITIVE reinforcement. You do the same.

And Dora - applause, applause for your success!! I'm proud of you.

Default Hi All!

Well, last week WI I gained 2lbs...and it was my first gain since June...I was depressed but after the week I had I just let it go and as of right now I am 3lbs down so...we'll see by Thursday when I WI!!!

I can relate to all of your stories...why do people seem so rude when asking about our weight? I just shrug them off too!

Dora, that's too funny about the poster child...my leader uses me as one too..I go to a meeting with about 15 other women and I have lost the most weight (80.5) and she just about talks me up every week. I admit it does do my ego wonders but sometimes I feel like I am getting to much attention too...

Michele, don't let that co-worker get to you...take it as a compliment and consider the source...I do that..it always seems to me that others with weaknesses seem to focus alot more on how to make others look bad to ward off attention from their own problems ...you have no problems you are the strong one here! Swan has the right idea about how to deal with these folks...distance!!!

Well I hope all is going good for everyone and you are all having an OP week...I plan on not counting points on Easter Sunday but I will still watch what I eat. Since I look at this like a lifestyle change there are going to be "Easters" all through my life. I just know that since my life has changed..I pay much more attention to what I eat now. Isn't it funny when you are in a restaurant and if you watch what others around you order how true it is that not too many folks out there pay attention to what they are eating...I have watched ladies in restaurants eat my whole point intake for a day in just one meal...simply amazing to me now!

Take care..

Patty

Howdy all

It's hump day! And I was doing soooo good OP that yesterday I noshed on way too much sweet stuff. Sure was hoping to get that next star this week, too.

Michelle, I hear you about nosy folks, though I don't mind answering those questions. You should see the number of people from my church who suddenly joined WW this year. I should get a commission. Maybe your answer could be more vague and friendly at the same time. Like, "Oh, I've lost a whole ton!" or lots, or another person. Whatever, it might work.

Re: logging miles. I walk at 5:30 each morning and recently upped my route to 4.25 miles. And I have a little chart that converts other exercise to mileage. Like water aerobics is 20 minutes = 1 mile, strength training is 30 minutes = 1 mile. I hit the gym twice a week for weights and also use the elliptical trainer. Have any of you ladies tried that thing? It's awesome and non-impact (my knees appreciate that) The first time I did it I lasted a whole 8 minutes. That was last fall. On Saturday I did 50 minutes and then did weights afterward. boy, was I pumped!

Patty -congrats to you on your totals! I smell a 100lb star coming up soon!! That's funny about watching folks in restaurants. I eye people's baskets at the grocery store. It kind of acts as a wake-up call. As in "what's in MY basket?" And your success does deserve to be applauded. Your leader may also be using your success as bait for new members.

If I don't post again, Y'all behave on Easter. Easy for me to say, we are staying home. I did buy a leg of lamb roast. course, I've never cooked such a thing and am hoping it comes out ok. Sure was expensive.

Love y'all! (Kathy, where the dickens are you, doll?)

Good Morning Everyone!! I really miss posting and haven't done much in the last month or so. I didn't want to bring everyone down. My weigh loss efforts have been non-existant.

I've been out of energy and haven't been able to see the good side of anything. To make a long story short, I've gone to the doctor, to a counselor, to a sleep specialist, to a sleep clinic, and back to the specialist. (This all took 5 weeks.) The specialist told me yesterday that I have sleep apnea. He said that I stop breathing 19-26 times an hour (!!!) and that my oxygen should be at least 90%, but it's only 85%. (It took him less than 5 minutes to tell me that, which makes me wonder why he couldn't just call me. Hmmph) So no wonder I'm exhausted, cranky, and don't feel like doing ANYthing.

I'm glad to still see some familiar names and some new ones too.

Keep up the good work.

Wow, Annie. Did the specialist offer any relief? I have a friend who uses a breathing machine for his apnea; it really helps.

I'm up a couple pounds, possibly TOM, possibly just the plateau my body has been on more or less since March 1.

The business trip was eventful. The highlight: I had a close encounter with a vicious speed bump while walking in the client's parking garage. Basically, I tripped and sprained my right arm, which is now in a sling. So my exercise plan will be changing a bit. I'll have to stick with walking for a while!

Onward and somewhere or other,

Lauren

Howdy all!
Well, my stress is a bit up, mileage for the week is down, weight up 1.4, and am I glad today starts a new week!

We have to be at church tomorrow at 7:30am! The Easter Bunny will be hopping extra early tomorrow. I've calced and re-calced the numbers and cannot possibly get in my walk tomorrow morning and still do all the necessary stuff. Oh well, I'll just sweat it out on an afternoon walk.

Today my little family worked on our horrendous yard. Still lots to be done, but most of the shrubs in the front are trimmed, and the gutter's been cleaned. Hard to believe how long it all took. And how much energy it required. Did half as much gym work cause I was just pooped!

Annie, glad you're back! Sometimes we do have to take a sabbatical. I bet my accountant will be doing lots of normal stuff after this week!

Gotta go iron DD's Easter dress! Y'all be good to yourselves! (at least with one kiddo, the chocolate goodies are at a minimum)

Hey everybody ,
I'm back , for now . My mom got a new computer & gave me her old one . It freezes up sometimes , so I may need to send it in , as it's still under warranty apparently .
I haven't done to well on the program . Stress ! My mom may have a recurrence of cancer . She had biopsies done & they didn't get enough tissue , so they have to re-do it on the 26th . It was very painful for her .
I have really missed being able to go on-line whenever I wanted to . I missed visiting you guys .
2 1/2 more weeks & Hawaii here I come

Sooooo has everyone survived Easter? I did pretty well with dinner and never had a piece of candy. Dinner was in the middle of the afternoon, so I counted it as lunch and dinner. Worked out good.

Lauren: Ouch! You aren't supposed to go fast over a speed bump - that's not why they're called that!!LOL.

kathleeen61: Gosh what a bunch of scary stuff with your mom. Our prayers are with you.

Dora: Now you can come over and do my yard work. I'll leave the to-do list in the front door and a Diet Coke in the fridge. LOL

Have a good Monday.

Well, my Easter and the Monday after were caloric catastrophes! I expected that for Easter day (I don't count on Easter), but I'm having trouble getting back in the saddle. (Must be something in the air, right, Dora?)

On the bright side, I did work out this morning. It was interesting doing those moves with one arm in a sling!

Kathleen, I hope things work out. Sounds like you've got a lot going on right now.

Annie, good for you in controlling your Easter eating.

Boy am I glad easter is over . It seems like I have a different temptation for each holiday .
Thank goodness spring is here , too . Although , at this time of the year our weather is not very predictable . I worked 3 hours in my yard last night . I was going to mow tonight , but it rained . Did I tell you all , I love my new mower ? I know , i'm nuts . I do like to mow . It's good exercise , I can think , I get to see what's going on in my neighborhood , etc... My mower isn't self propelled (I hate those) , it's a mulcher , with big back wheels . Now aren't you all envious ?
Dora I do think your flying pig icon is cute . I thought a cat was appropriate for me . People always call me Kat for short , & my life is run by 3 cats . I luv 'em .
Annie , i'm envious of you . I wish I had your self control . Good for you ! I used to have good self control , but it's jumped ship right now . I'm thrilled when I can go 2 days in a row on point .
My area is having a new buy out next week that begins on May 6th . I think these are so great for me . The initial cost is tough ($139.00) but you save alot . It lasts until sometime in September . I don't know if all areas have the same specials .

Hi, y'all! I've missed you. Mostly, I've been busy working on a couple of volunteer projects on the computer & when I'm done with them I turn it off & go to bed!

Good news on the WW front. I weighed in last night & got my 70 lb star. 3.1 more lbs to 199.9!

Easter weekend was a huge challenge. Didn't totally flunk it, but I didn't stay OP either. Pete's daugher & her family met us @ Grandma's for 3 days. Her kids are cheese monsters so Friday night was cheese pizza (individuals on french bread) & Saturday lunch was mac & cheese (I had a little, but I was still full from the bacon & eggs I'd had for breakfast). Saturday night was chips, hot dogs & pork roast. Easter dinner was brisket & baked veggies (yes, in with the brisket). I pretty much ate what I wanted, but I didn't let portions run away with me & I only had a few little nibbles of Easter candy.

Also, usually when we're out there I sit around & read all the time, but I didn't really have time to this trip. No "exercise" time per se, but not many times when I could sit down & vegetate either. Usually when I had a chance to sit down, I laid down instead & when to sleep!
