Kelly S or any WW leaders?...Question

  • Hello,
I have a question. I am 6 pounds from the high weight range according to my height. Now what I want to know is should I just say i want that to be my goal so I don't have to pay yet still lose to get to my real goal? One of the people that work at WW said when I get to the high range I shold stop. I don't know if she said that for financial reasons or weight reasons. I hope this makes sense. Thank you!

  • You can pick any weight within your range as your goal. My friend, very small boned, has a goal of 135. She weighs in at 115. (fine for her really). but her 6 weeks of maitainance started then. She stoped paying. I say go for it, but keep in mind where you really want to be. Try not to use it as an excusse to stop before you hit your goal!
  • I didn't set a "specific" number on the scale. I know based on a pair of size 8 Rocky Mountain Jeans that's where I want to be. If I weight 300 or 130 at that size I'll be happy. You want to choose a weight where you won't feel like you are constantly dieting to maintain it. Most people set the high end for financial reasons.
  • I think that the decision to set a WW goal weight higher than the weight you truly want is a very personal one. When I was going through that process, one of the other WW members overheard the discussion with my leader and she made a point of offering her thoughts - first, if you don't have the discipline to keep losing without paying, you may have trouble reaching the goal you want. Second, it's important to learn how to do maintenance properly, and some people have trouble doing that on their own "after" they hit lifetime. All that considered, I decided to set my WW goal higher than what I actually wanted. In hindsight, I think that had some benefits and some drawback, but I would probably make the same decision again.

I think alot of it comes down to the individual, there is no set right answer.

    Hoped this helped.
