Visiting the family...

Hi everyone! After having done ww for 6 months a few years ago and sucessfully losing the weight only to be bad and gain it back again (plus a few pounds) I've started again last week. This weekend though I'm going to visit the Irish in-laws, brother-in-law and sister-in-law...all of which have much faster metabolisms than me and can eat practically anything without gaining a pound! They are also very into cooking and to be honest are damn good at it! But it's not exactly on the light side...any ideas of how to stay OP without insulting the family? Thanks guys!

You can eat a smaller portion, ask to help cook, make sure there are free veggies around, drink your water, get in a walk or two a day.....

I encounter this problem a lot while travelling. I agree with Kelly on this one, eat smaller portions, help with the cooking, try and eat side salads and have dessert without all that yummy double cream!

If it is at all possible, try and get out and walk. I know in the fall and winter this is harder, but try and get out for a few minutes a day. If they have chores, offer to help them, if there is shopping to do, offer to help and pay if it means that you can get some of your own food needs met.

I'm not sure if you are going to Ireland or just visiting family in the US, but I know that Ireland and the UK have an amazing range of low points products! I love shopping in different places just to look at food products that haven't yet made it to the States.

This is a challenge that is tricky. I would use the WW tools. Imagine yourself eating smaller portions. See yourself doing the OP thing and see yourself getting rewarded. How about bringing a box of cereal like Fiber ONe or Good Friends to help get your day off to a good start? Would you be comfortable bringing fruit or a low point dessert with you to share with everyone? I know this is old advice, but try to concentrate on the real reason you're there--bonding and enjoying each other's company--instead of the food. Try and hit your target points and remember there is a reason for Flexpoints as long as you plan and prepare. Good luck.
I'm sure you're up for this challenge!:smug:

Woo hoo!!! I just got back from my visit and I managed to stay on points the entire time! I maybe didn't eat quite as many fruits and veggies and I would normally but I'm still quite proud of myself :P

Fidjsnipzz,
Weigh to go! That's a big challenge and you were successful.
Of course you should be proud of yourself!
