Hi,I need some opinions on the Doctor balancing beam scale. This is My problem see I dont know if I just dont trust My scale or what the problem is!! but I cant seem to get past My scale that I have now without weighing Myself every single morning, granted I only weigh Myself once aday in the morning but still that is a problem,Im a scale acholic. My Hubby told Me that if I would feel better about the whole thing that I could order the balancing beam scale that some Doctors use.My question is this:What is all Your feelings on the balancing beam scale?do You think they are worth the $200.00 or do You feel that a Tanika $70.00 Digital scale would be just as good?I really dont know what I should get either the balancing beam or just a more expensive digital scale. The scale that I have now is a digital scale and only cost like $20.00 I dont know but maybe I need to be reassured of the scale reading??Waiting to hear some opinions on this.
Thanks
Brenda
It depends, are you weighing in once a week, if so, then I would just use the ww weight as a measure of how your own scale is doing. My scale is actually showing me heavier than my weigh in scale, so if I want to gauge things, I subtract weight.
Do you go to a gym? My gym has a doctor's scale, if I'm obsessing, then I would use that one to get a more accurate weighing.
It just depends on your level of need to be assured. I am happy to see my weight decrease, but I'm even happier when I see my clothes fit better.

Re: I Need Some Opinions
Get a 5 pound weight or anything you know the exact weight of such as a 5 pound bag of flour or sugar and weigh it on your scale. That way you will know if your scale is correct.
Personally I got my Tanita Scale for $30 at Costco (and it is normally a $60 one) and it is within .2 of the W/W scale.
Remember these basic rules with scales:
1) Place on a hard, level surface -- no carpets.
2) Do not move it -- moving it can cause the calibration to offset.
3) Place in a low humidity area -- no bathrooms.
For digital scales to calibrate:
1) turn or tap on, let set to zero, step on register weight and step off.
2) repeat 2 more times -- disregard all 3 readings
3) now it is calibrated so you can weigh and record that weight
4) repeat this anytime the scale is moved.
Kelly,
Weigh to go! I am so thankful for all your good ideas.
As an aside, I bought a doctor's scale and love it. I've had it for years now so I kind of figure the cost out over time and think it's well worth it.
Good luck everybody and especially bmc.
