Coming Off Slowly

I'm almost a year into WW and I've lost about 27 pounds out of the 100+ I need to lose. I travel a lot for my job so I've only been to about half of a years WW meetings and I think that's the other reason why it's been coming off slowly. But, in the past, I would quit after about 8 weeks, and I'm still going after nearly a year. I guess it's better than nothing, right?

It is way better than nothing. I lost about 65 pounds and got to goal and I didn't usually lose more than half a pound a week. I just recognized that I tend to lose slowly. I think it is fine to explore ways to lose faster but I was always happy to have any loss.

A pound is still a pound, whether it takes 1 week or 4 weeks!

I was just reading a NYT story about how bad the metabolism of the Biggest Losers was after they lost the weight... and even when they put it back on again! Like they were burning about 500 calories less per day than other people of their size. I have to think that slow and steady is a better way to do it. It's hard because you don't have that immediate gratification of that big drop on the scale (and let's face it... if we weren't immediate gratification junkies we wouldn't be here, right?) but in terms of doing what's best for your body and increasing your chances if keeping it off, I think slow and steady is the way to go. Just keep moving in the right direction. Way to go!

I think that's fantastic! 27 pounds is great, especially considering your schedule...you still managed to do it~ Kudos! I hope to remember this as I move forward in this year.
