This is a special time of year and I shall have a cookie or two and not feel too much guilt. :) |
Sounds good. I actually put myself on maintaining mode (6 more daily points) for this week instead of staying on losing mode. Took a lot of the pressure off.

hi
hello, new to this group, but not to 3fc. I joined ww a couple of years ago, didn't like it much. I do lower carb because I am pre-diabetic, and didn't like the way the points program worked with that. Really punished for even healthy fats.
I also hated meetings, couldn't stand the way stickers and other tokens were given out, and the treats they sold (that got eaten like crazy at meetings) didn't seem healthy and didn't help my sweet tooth. There, I said it, in spite of believing in lower carb, and knowing I want to conquer my sugar addiction, I must admit I have an addiction to sweets and treats. I was about to quit completely when the new program started and i have decided to give it a try. Today, ate well but not so active. I also gave blood today, and did have to have a couple of cookies to be able to be stable afterward. That seems to be a given, just fluids without sugar won't do it. Learning how to track on the new system. The food was ok, but it didn't prompt me for activity. Interested in reading more about everyone's opinions, and hoping for some weight loss with the new program. |
I think the new system is really compatible with lower carb eating. I eat lowish carb (about 105g of carbs, 70g or so net carbs on average) and have found SmartPoints really easy to do. You do have to watch the saturated fat.
Anyway, if you have any questions on anything let us know. Do you have an activity monitor? If so that will sync automatically if it is connected. Otherwise you have to manually enter your activity. |
Love the new WW program and excited it is focused on lower sugar, low saturated fats, higher protein. My first week lost 3.8 lbs and didn't feel deprived at all. Real whipped cream 1SP and lite cool whip are my best friends LOL! Whipped cream in coffee and on mixed berries :). My desserts are the SFFF pudding...chocolate fudge w skim milk, 2 T whipped cream, 1 T unsweetened cocoa. Blend in blender and chill. So rich and yummy! :). 4SP for 1/2 cup

Wow, that is great bigdog!

thanks for the welcome.
I did well this week, in general and kept to my points. Did find that tracking again helped me to increase my veggie intake and work to get more veggies in me. I love veggies, but sometimes don't "bother" with them. Also, recently had to give up some faves, (no more nightshades, thats tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and potatoes). so that has limited some of my choices. These veggies seem to give me major aches and pains, so I will stay off. This has been about a year of not eating those regularly. I have had some as Treats from time to time, and still get very sore. I have been working too at upping exercise, with some success. I lost my fitbit last spring, and am thinking of getting a new tracker. Haven't decided which one yet. The new website doesn't have some of the nice things that were there before. There was an icon for water, to make sure we got enough fluids, and specifically tracked fruit and veggies. I think they should bring that back to further encourage those "free" foods. Have a good week everyone |
Yes, they decided to not have the healthy checks you could check off any more feeling that it wasn't needed with the new plan. I also think they had some complaints from people of too much to track so that limited it. (Personally, I like having the option to track more).
|
I really really really struggled with the new program at first, but seeing the weight MELT off of me has been a huge boost to my enthusiasm, and I'm getting the hang of it.
|
That is really great. It is an adjustment but it does seem to be working well for a lot of people.
|
I'm on a WW hiatus right now and I've been watching the change in the program from a distance. My plan was to reevaluate and decide if I wanted to rejoin in February (work and family things calm down for me then), and I think I'm starting to miss it.
Anyway, with the new program is there still a Simply Filling type option? That won't affect my decision, I'm just curious. |
how to track restaurant food, especially not from a chain.
Had Indian food today, and we got the "Dinner for 6" split between 8 people, had lots of leftovers. I was careful and just had one plateful, (and no, not the buffet style plateful, I was reasonable). I tracked rice and 2 servings of butter chicken. is that reasonable or am I not tracking enough. That was 18 points. I ate light breakfast and lunch. |
Amy - Simply Filling still exists. Everyone gets fewer weekly points (14 to 42) instead of a flat 49. SO, I think that makes simply filling a little harder. With SmartPoints I get fewer weekly points but I get more daily.
fatmad - What I do in a situation like that is try to find what it would be at another similar restaurant and use that. I look on the WW site to see if the food is in there database. If it isn't, then I go to MyFitnessPal which has a huge database and look at the food there. I usually look at multiple ones to get kind of a sense for what the average is. |
Thank you Koshka!

I have been through several changes with the WW program over the years. This one was the hardest for me, because, I had been on points plus since they rolled it out. I was happy. I did not want to change. I knew points plus, up one side and down the other. But, I sucked it up, and took on the challenge. I'm like that. It took awhile, for my brain, to get used to Smart Points. But, as I embraced, the change, I realized, it was pushing me to better choices. And I love it! Who does not love a good lean meat stew, full of veggies, on a cold winter day? And it's a healthy option? :carrot::D I am not going to lie, the change, was hard, I had to make some changes and choices. But, I am so much happier! SP, has pushed me into a better place. I actually get to eat, the like the farm girl I grew up as. Protein, veg, the stuff I love! And I still have the luxury of being able to raise, and preserve, the majority of what I eat! The higher points things, in moderation. I do still indulge now and then, but SP, has made me more aware, of the health impacts, of things I ate on PP, that I did more than I should have. |
OK I just signed back up and I'm going to a meeting tomorrow! I'm excited!
|
have been getting my fit points most days, and getting back to tracking. And DH brought home more salad fixings and is on the bandwagon with me.
I had too much on the weekend tho, so no weight changes for me yet. Will work on refining this plan. |
Valentine's Day
Oh dear. Hubby couldn't resist and bought me a pound of chocolates made fresh at a local shop. I also bought him a pound ;)! I asked him to put both in his safe, and each day give me three (I figured that would equal 3 Smartpoints). IF they are left out I WILL eat them all in one or two sittings! :D
Happy Valentine's Day!!! |
Doling them out slowly is probably a good idea. I eat my dark chocolate that way, usually 1 square a day. However, you may want to check the nutritional info to see if 3 pieces is 3 SmartPoints. For example, I have some Godiva chocolates (chocolate lava cake dessert truffles) and 3 pieces would be 7 SmartPoints!
|
Chocolate would be probably 3SP for one piece :(
