What to drink on WW?

Wow, I cannot believe how many calories I was drinking! I would read the threads of I ate this before my goal weight and I ate all that and think to myself, why am I so heavy? I don't do that. Nope, instead I drank down the liquid calories. Right now I'm struggling to find something to drink. Diet sodas and artificial sweeteners are out, they make me very hungry. Tea makes my mouth feel dry and funny. Water is just not appealing to me and I have a hard time getting it down. I'm at a huge loss. Before I was drinking 8 points worth of milk each meal, sometimes more, plus drinks in between including soda and juice. The Sobe Golean with Erythritol is very tasty (2 points for 20 ounces) but expensive as a daily drink. What do you enjoy drinking or putting with your drinks to spruce up the flavor?

Personally, I now only drink water. I actually really enjoy it.

But since you don't perhaps you can try spiking the water with a bit of juice? My sister loves putting cranberry or apple juice into her water or seltzer.

You could try putting mio or some other zero calorie flavor in your water.

It can be difficult to choke down the water (we all remember that feeling) when you aren't used to it. But since removing coffee (except the odd soy latte here and there), I actually enjoy water, and even crave it.

I like Lindsayanne716's idea of adding a little flavour to your water. If you aren't a fan of the artificial sweeteners, I've always been a fan of adding lemon slices to my water to perk it up. At the end of the day, though, you should try to become more comfortable with water. A huge part of losing weight is watching what you eat and exercising, but equally important things are staying hydrated (6-8 glasses of water a day, this does not include pop, juice, or milk) and getting enough sleep every night.

Oh, I just thought of this! In the beginning I felt like I would choke or gag on the water because I was trying to gulp large amounts down (the sooner I hit 8 glasses, the sooner I could stop drinking the stuff). I started using a straw, and was really surprised how quickly the water went down. Especially if I always had the water in my hand when watching television, being in meetings at work, and while eating my lunch.

Good luck!

I have been drinking water with mio, but my health coach said it is almost as bad as diet soda due to the artificial sweeteners...the only good thing is it has less sodium. So it seems as though ice water with lemon will be what I am going to move toward. It stinks that we don't have more options!

I have a soda stream and when I think I can't take one more sip of plain water I just carbonate it so I have fizzy water. That usually does the trick for me.

When I started I had a hard time drinking water, too, so I would drinks LOTS of Crystal Light or other things like that. I still do from time to time (I really love sparkling white grape flavored water) but I've tried to cut back for that reason and drink it plain. It takes some getting used to, but now I love water and always have my water bottle with me.

If you're not used to drinking water and are trying to drink all 8 glasses in a day it's going to be tricky. Even now I sometimes have hard a time getting those 64 oz in and I love water! You could always use the Mio or similar stuff for some of your water and slowly build up and then wean off of it (if that makes sense) until you're drinking plain water.

I love water but it is hard to drink as much as you need in a day - it gets so repetitious and I feel deprived at meal times when I'm used to getting a diet soda. So I love using lemons! It gives just enough flavor to be interesting and I have a cut little lemon holder to keep my cut up lemons fresh. You could try really any fruit in your water. I know some people that love slices of cucumber. And they make fruit infusion pitchers too that you can put fruit in to help lightly flavor the water.

Sounds weird but I prefer room temperature water rather than cold. Perhaps you can experiment with different temperature, with or without ice, etc.

Spiking it with a little bit of juice is a good idea. I will give that a shot tomorrow and see if it helps. There is something about my fridge that makes the water out of it so good. It has no flavor and is the perfect temperature of cold. But, I can't drag my fridge with me everywhere! That is likely what I have the largest issue with is the taste. If it tastes even a bit minerally I can't drink it (same reason I can't eat beaf, the taste of iron is overwhelming to me).

Diet Soda or unsweet tea with sweet and low. I hate water but will use some Crystal light packets..could never use points on drinks. Just find something low calorie and enjoy.

Non-caloric, non-artificial sweetner sparking waters. I'm partial to Lime flavor. I like LaCroix, but there are other brands. You need to look carefully at the ingredients to make sure it is basically just water and carbonation.

I also put True Lemonade in water. It has stevia and a tiny tiny amount of evaporated cane juice which gives it 5 calories for 1 packet. I find that amount acceptable.

The same company - True Lemon - also sells crystallized lemon in packets which has no sweetener and no calories. There is also an orange flavor.

I do drink some diet drinks (cherry coke zero) but limit the number of them.

Sometimes when I have a craving for juice or something that isnt water or diet coke, I drink the Diet Ocean Spray Sparklers. They have it in cranberry and pomegranate Blueberry (both delicious). They come in cans and are found in the juice aisle. It's basically sparkling juice but has 0 points!

I was like you. Used to drink lots of Pepsi. Quit in January of 1989 and haven't had one since. That was my first time on WW many moons ago, lol. Too bad the rest didn't stick as well as the no Pepsi.
