Vitamins. Do you take them?

I am posting this two places because I am not sure where it goes?

I am 25. Just starting my weight loss journey. Should I be taking vitamins? Am I at that age? And if so, what should I be taking? Do you take vitamins? What do you take and what is it for?!

Thanks so much!!!

Yep - I take vitamins and have from a young age.

I take the Kroger brand of "everyday health support" it's a gummie multivitamin. :D

I've bounced between different kinds and as long as it's an overall wellness vitamin I get whatever is on sale.

WW also says you should be taking a multivitamin!

I'm thinking about trying a packet from Complete Nutrition that is supposed to be good for dieters but there isn't any pricing on their website!

There are just SOOOOO many. I don't even know where to start!!! It's so confusing. I took a multivitamin for a while, But my pee was like neon green. Dr. Oz says if your urine is that color that your body isn't absorbing the nutrients?

From what I understand, unless you have a specific diagnosed deficiency, taking vitamins doesn't do much more than give you expensive, stinky pee.

I took vitamin D in the last winter after blood tests showed I was deficient but I haven't needed them since then.

I take a general multivitamin and a calcium supplement, too.

Sometimes your body already has enough of that nutrient so it doesn't absorb it. If I take a B-12 supplement my pee is neon yellow. Nothing to be alarmed about, though. Sometimes there is dye in the vitamin that your body just doesnt process so it spits it back out. :)

I take glucosamine/MSM/Chondroitin and a D2000 every day for arthritis. I would like to find a good multivitamin too. I'm thinking about One a Day Women's.

Vitamin D is important here in Alaska. I think they are most effective when taken with food because your body will absorb them better, as it's already digesting food.

At least that's what I've always been told. I think multivitamins aren't going to harm you if you're careful but I personally put more trust in a varied diet. I read America is sort unique in how many of us take vitamin supplements.

I really think most dietary supplements are expensive and mostly ineffective, but obviously some of them do help. Doctor's here are often prescribing large amounts of vitamin D and it does help during the long winters but you have to basically megadose them. You take like 3 times the recommended amount because our bodies don't readily absorb them. I just don't usually take them unless my doctor prescribes them.

I myself take a multivit but I think it's more out of habit then anything but when I do not take it. I do feel a little sluggish and what not. The other one I take is calcium but I only take that because my dr. said that I need to take it because I don't drink milk so I am lacking in that department so to speak. All in all, I believe it is up to the individual, it works for some and not for others. Suggestion....... still not sure speak to a professional either doctor or nutristionist to find the right vit. for you.
( FYI.......the vit. I take is called vitality multi and vitality calcuim)

have a great night!

I've had some blood tests done in the last couple of years or so which revealed that I was deficient in Vitamin D (most people are) and Magnesium so my Dr. recommended I start taking a multivitamin. I take Centrum brand. I'm in my 40s though.

I take a female daily multivitamin (One a Day Womens...from Costco because its way cheaper) and I also take one calcium chew a day. The generic ones from Target are delicious! They taste like tootsie rolls :)

I only take the calcium chew because even though I do eat dairy...I want to get 100% of my calcium requirements. I come from a family with terrible teeth and bones so I try to keep my calcium levels high

I take a vitamin d and an iron supplement, but both are prescribed. I try to get the rest of my vitamins from actual food sources... i can't imagine there's any harm in taking a multivitamin.

I do take a B12 when I'm feeling a little tired.

Vitamins have always made me sick. I've tried every type imaginable and after about three days I start throwing up. Interestingly, the only two times I have been able to hold them down are the two times I was pregnant and was prescribed prenatal vitamins. Since then I cannot hold down those either, so I think my body is telling me I don't need them unless I'm pregnant.

I will have to pick up some of those gummy vitamins... I suck at taking pills lol
