Daily Points and Calories

  • I have been doing weight watchers for about a two months and really enjoying the program. Its the first diet/lifestyle I can actually do and it fits perfectly with my life.

Recently, I had an appointment with my doctor who went over some recent lab work (for my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and suggested I go on a 1500 calorie diet.

My current daily points for weight watchers is 44. I don't know if this "fits" with the 1500 calorie diet. Do I need to adjust my points, just count calories as well as points - I'm just completely lost on how to marry the two.

    Any advice??
  • I'd suggest a follow-up call to your doctor and ask that question. He/she may be o.k. with you following WW vs. a calorie counting diet depending on your medical history.
  • Enter a few days worth of meals into a site like Sparkpeople or Daily Plate. They will tell you your calories.
  • Thanks ladies! I really like your idea seagirl - That's a good way of seeing what my calories are at while still counting points.
  • I also input my daily food into MyFitnessPal. I had no idea how many calories i was eating daily in conjunction with my 31 daily points. My goal is around 1200 so this is a great program to also do with WW. This was my biggest issue with WW, there was no way of telling if i was eating 900 or 2000 calories!

yeah, that was my problem with WW, too. I would be over points and starving, and the find out I'd only eat 1000 calories that day. I love Sparkpeople, especially since I don't eat a lot of fruits and veggies, I am much more full and happy, and losing weight!
  • I track all of my food on My Fitness Pal. I get 36 points a day, and it seems like that amount is usually around 1450-1500 calories a day.
