Future WW Challenge Idea

ETA: Looks like people are indeed interested in continuing a challenge! The first week will be posted September 5th, be sure to hop on then and join in!

I don't mean to be looking farther ahead into the future than necessary, but the chat about the end date of our First WW Challenge got me thinking...

I'd like to continue with some sort of Challenge in the WW area, I think it keeps things nice and lively, and I know we have some people who tend to keep mostly to this section on 3FC so it'd be a great way to continue to stay connected with fellow WW members.

---

I thought I'd throw out the idea of a WW MM Challenge.

MM being an upside down WW, and it would stand for Month/Month.

It'd be fairly simple in that... for example the first week would be called something like:

"WW MM Challenge (Sept/Oct) Goal Setting/Week 1"

Of course that means that the first MM challenge would actually start on the 6th this time due to already being in the first challenge... but honestly that's such a little thing, future events could be started on the first of every other month.

It also works out nicely over a year... Sept/Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb...etc.

Where-in the first week of the month would be setting a goal and getting started on the path to achieving that goal. The subsequent weeks could be broken out like we have been "Week 2, Week 3" so and so forth.... "Weeks" could continue to be on a Monday or they could be a Sunday instead.

Obviously seeing as it's bi-monthly based it means that some "weeks" would be shorter, but I don't see that as a big deal, as it'd still be two whole months to pick a goal and then get to it.

I'm not savvy enough to create huge shared charts like the awesome one used for the first challenge, but I'm not sure if people like the chart and want to keep it going for future challenges, etc.

Again, I was just playing around with the WWMM type of thing, so what I'm really wondering is...

Is two months too long? Is it too short? Is there not enough structure? Or is it too specific? Should we just keep all the Challenge posts in a single thread? Should we continue to break out each week updated? Are enough people interested who want to continue the challenges at all?

I'm more than happy to start up the threads as needed (as I know other members are, too). I figured getting it hammered out in advance means we get to start strong with the next challenge...that is if people are interested in continuing the challenges.

I LOVE this idea!!

I don't mind fooling around to get a chart started or doing posts, so add me to a list if you've got one going!

I'd like to see the same type of weekly chat thread where we can talk about what's up.

I agree, please add me if you do a list, or maybe we can use the one we have now once it's over?

I'd like to participate too :) I don't mind putting a new sheet in place either :)

I'd love to participate!

Sign me up to participate! I'm at the high end of my goal so lifetime, but my doctor and I agree it's still too much for me and 15 pounds more would be better.

Sounds challenging - sign me up please

Well awesome! I'm glad people are interested in continuing the Challenges in the WW section.

I'll be glad to post the Goal Setting/Week 1 Post during the end week of the first challenge (Week of Sept 5th), and we'll just start it up then. Keeping the new weeks starting on Mondays seems like a fine thing to me.

Everyone can then post their goals and we'll get to it.

And when it starts if a member makes up a chart similar to the one we use now we'll just go from there!

So the challenges would be 2 months long? But we would be setting weekly goals? Sorry, I'm a little confused!

Both the challenges and goals would be for two months.

New chats and updates are what would be started weekly throughout the two months. Exactly as they're being done now with the first challenge. That's to prevent the first thread from becoming too bulky or crowded with various updates.

Week 1 would be goal setting/the start. Chat about the challenge would begin here.

Week 2 a new thread would be posted where people update about how they're doing so far, and any continued chat would go there.

So on and so forth until the last week of Month2.

I hope that clears it up! :)

I'd love to participate in the new one even tho I'm not part of the current one (just joined).

Deana 08-17-2011 01:48 PM

Oh ok, got it. I'd be down, as long as I can report in my weekly goals on my weigh-in days, even though the challenge start/end days might be different (for instance Sunday-Sunday).

There won't be a hard and fast rule on when people would "have to" update. Some people like to update more than others.

It might be a challenge, but it's only as strict or loose as the individual decides it needs to be for themselves.

I would love to join this challenge also. I just joined WW on 7/26 and would love to be apart of an online challenge as well.
