weight loss

  • I am on my 3rd week. The first week I lost 5.4 lbs. The 2nd .8 and the 3rd 1lb. How much does ww like you to lose per week. I have like 55 lbs to go. At this rate it will take me a year! Just wondering. I am a 56 year old woman so I guess at my age it must take longer to lose?
  • They say that safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week (more if you are heavier.) I lost a lot the first week, then I'm about an average of 1.4 per week. But this doesn't mean I lose every week - or lose that amount every week. I've had a gain and some .2 loss weeks.

And yes, it may take you a year to get to your goal - but imagine how good you'll feel with 10 pounds gone (it feels great) then 20 then 30 and so on. You will feel better and look better along the journey. It's not like you'll be the same for a year and then wake up in 365 days with 55 pounds off you.

    Just keep on the plan!

I identify with that! I have been losing weight very slowly. It has taken me two years and a half to lose a hundred pounds. There is no telling how long it will take to lose the rest. Here is the way that I have chosen to look at it. I am 55 and, at my age, it seems like time is flying , so another year or two will go by quickly. Also, a year from now I will be a year older anyway (I certainly hope) so as long as my weight is lower than it is now, I will be happy.

In the past, I often gave up because my weight loss was not fast enough. Now I have decided to be patient. I think that you are doing great!
  • I am ok with that kind of slow weight loss. At 45, sagging skin with wrinkles is a concern with rapid weight loss, not to mention the physiological factors that come along with it...I figure if you give your body and skin a slow loss, it can adjust better.
  • My first week was 3.6, then 1 and this week was .8. I figure it'll come off eventually, it took me 32 years to get this way. I need to remember it can take a couple years to get rid of it.

Just keep it up. For me, I want to see high losses, but I know it's not going to happen all the time. Patience, it's a virtue right?
  • Hey! I'm on my third week of WW too. This is my first time on it; I'd previously lost a lot of weight on my own (50+), but most recently lost weight way too rapidly (VLCD) and ended up gaining it all back. I think slow and steady is the only way to really keep off weight, so stick with it! Age doesn't help matters, but my mom is a Lifetime member of WW; she's 62 and only reached her goal weight again two years ago---she's been a yo-yoer her whole life, but lost 60 this time for good! She's been maintaining two years now (at 120!), so it is possible at any age
