Light Bread
Hi Everyone :D
I switched from using regular whole grain bread to light because it has fewer points. I've been trying to find light hamburger and hotdog buns, english muffins, and bagels but have had no luck! Anyone else having this issue? |
I buy Giant/Stop&Shop brand light bagels and they are delicious! Taste just like regular bagels (although, to be fair, they are slightly smaller).
|
I'll have to pick some up!

Shaws whole wheat light hot dog and hamburger rolls are 1 point!!!!!!!

Hello,
I am having the same problem. I would like to find light english muffins. |
Same problem. I can't find decent sandwich thins, lighter wraps, breads, etc. I would also love to be able to find shirataki noodles.
I normally just eat whole wheat english muffins for 3 pts. |
Where do you live?
I lived in upstate New York and Wegmans had light hot dog and hamburger buns which were 70 calories. Their bread was 35 calories per slice. Now I live in Ohio and I can find buns and bread at Kroger. |
I live in Michigan =D Went out again to 2 different grocery stores (Meijer & Kroger) and had no luck finding anything!
|
walmart website says they have light english muffins
100 calories per bagel 8g fiber per serving No high fructose corn syrup how many calories are in a regular english muffin? |
What is light bread? Bread is made from flour, yeast, water and salt. What is in light bread that makes it light? This has always confused me... Do they add some sort of non-caloric filler? make it airier?
|
I find that the light bread that they sell in our local Market Baskets are somewhat smaller in size than normal bread and thinner than regular full calorie bread. Also, it's only 35 calories per slice.

Anyone ever try Arnold's Sandwich Thins? On they old plan they were 1 point, but now they're up to 3. They look like really thin hamburger rolls and are quite tasty. They come in a few different flavors, too. They're my bread staple.
Costco sells huge packs, and I just freeze them. |
I lived on the flatbreads but now it kills me to use 3 pts for 1 so i go without now :(

I miss Wegmans... |
I live in Michigan (metro Detroit) also. I've been to many Krogers, and they have light Kroger hamburger and hot dog buns.
I also like Arnold bread thins. WW's makes light english muffins. Also, the Thomas 100 cal english muffins are pretty light too. |
Nature's Own Whole Wheat Sandwich Rounds are 2 points (note these are not the Sandwich Thins but the Sandwich Rounds).
I sometimes buy the pepperidge farm mini bagels which are at least small but not light. I have thought about trying http://kimslightbagels.com/ Basically I don't worry too much if bread is light but I do plug in the numbers in the calculator and find something lowish in points but still whole grain. |

It does have less calories but I've not stood there and compaired the two at this time. :book2: |
I found bread yesterday that is made by Arnold, it's high fiber whole wheat and only 2 pts for 2 pieces. 35 calories per slice, high fiber and protien!! I'm thrilled, finally i can have a sandwich without the guilt of too many points!!!
|
Not sure if you have the Dempsters Body Wise brand at your stores but I tend to stick with it. Bread is 2 slices for 2 points and the wraps are 2 points also. They have bagels too, used to be 2 points on the old plan, probably up to 3 now. I eat a lot of wraps lol

Sara Lee 45 cals a slice, whole wheat or whole grain bread is 1 pt. Sara Lee also makes 80 cal whole grain hamburger and hotdog buns. I have not bought any recently, so am not sure of points on them.
|
I like MERITA LIGHT Wheat Hamburger Buns. I get them at Walmart or BiLo but occasionally see them in other stores. They are 80 calories but I don't know how may points they are. You said that you have been to Kroger. I got their store brand Light Wheat Sandwich Buns in the past and like them fine.
There are some low carb bagels that I occasionally get at Publix. The ""Alternative Bagels" come is several flavors and I find them all yummy. |
