Treadmills?

Hi!

I put a thread on the Exercise forum, but I thought I'd put this question here too.

I'm planning to buy a treadmill. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? I don't want to spend a fortune, but I don't plan to get something cheap that won't last either.

Thanks!

I have a Proform
http://www.proform.com/

I would suggest you go to a Equipment store and try the different models out and see what you feel best on.
Thats the important thing.

I also have a Proform and really like it. It is durable and 2 years ago when I bought it, it was rated the number 1 mid range priced treadmill.

i like the treadmills that can use my polar heart rate monitor chest strap. i have no idea where that option is in the pricing, but it is very helpful if you are running, and holding the handle bars to test your heart rate is awkward.

As far as brands I can't give you any advice but I am sure if you look in the paper (especially at this time of year) you should be able to find some used treadmills that are top quality for half the price. More often than anyone would like to believe people buy excercise equipment and never use it.

Hi,
I'm getting a treadmill today for my "big" Christmas gift from my husband. It's a ProForm.

Jen, How many times a week and how many minutes to you walk? I have no idea how often to use the incline.
I guess I'll just have to "play with it."

Thanks for the infomation everyone! Now all I have to do is flylady my basement to have room, and I can start doing some shopping. I had a friend get me a Consumer Reports article, that gave me some good information also. I also might look at the elliptical trainers, they're a little cheaper.

i love elliptical trainers. they burn more calories in a shorter time than the treadmills. plus, they don't hurt my knees.
