I've been considering joining WW. I'm a little confused about it. The WW site says you can buy the at home materieals for $99 regular or $129 deluxe. I wanted to go to a few meetings but I don't want to go to them forever, I'd prefer to go for a month or two to learn the ropes. You have to pay a registration fee and then a membership fee. Do you also have to pay for the materials on top of the reg fee & membership fee? Or are they included? Or do you get them at a discounted price?
If the Materials cost is the same whether I go to meetings or not I would rather just do the at home program.
There's only so much money I can stand to spend on another weight loss program. God knows I've been on them all over the years. The points system reminds me of counting calories. If it's the basically the same I can just count calories and get the same results for free, right?
i wish i had an answer for ya, suppose you will have to decide though. i was able to join online (i've done the meetings, and for me, at this point in my life, this is a better choice) i was already doing the momentum plan, and was able to switch to the new plan materials for about 50.00, i'm not sure what the 99.00 would include, going to go check now, maybe i can help you after i look a little closer get back to ya
At my center the prices of the products (sets of books and such, calculator) is reduced through December.
It's always your own choice to follow a plan such as Weight Watchers or do your own calorie counting. Calorie Counting is still the most legit plan out there (in my opinion.) Sometimes though, some of us need a little more help and support.
BTW, I didn't buy a single item at my meeting today, but I am an online member with access to E-tools. I decided to consider which items I truly want. I might still buy a calculator and cookbook (will think on that this next week.)
i do it at home. i bought the materials on ebay. the dining out guide, complete food guide and calculator for 50$. i won't be switching to the new plan, i'm just going to keep doing it at home.
You can go to meetings for however long you want and quit and keep doing the program. You will get a pocket guide and getting start book as part of the first week which explains the program. Usually you pay a registration fee and then weekly meeting fees. Periodically, however, there is a sale and you can join with no registration fee. You might want to try doing that. Often they have that sale in January but you should call your local WW office and ask.
Another option is to do the program at home or just do the online program. That is cheaper and with the online program all materials are online.
Personally I tried doing it online only and failed. I knew a lot about WW and healthy eating (I'm a lifetime member) but I find that going to meetings help structures me. To be blunt, I hate to go to a meeting and not lose weight so if I know I'm going to be weighing in I do better. It is easier to just cheat a bit when I don't go to meetings.
But that is just me. Not everyone is like that and for people who don't need the structure then doing the program without meetings is fine. I think I read that WW has said that people who go to meetings lose weight 3 times faster than those doing it online only. But, again, it really just depends on the person.
Points and calories are obviously related but not the same thing. Points essentially try to encourage healthier eating and are easier to keep track of than calories. I personally count both points and calories. It is easier tracking points than calories but both certainly work well.
I'm not sure if I can do this but if anyone wants the kit I can go buy a few and ship them out. The money for the kit and shipping can be sent to my PayPal, I sell on E-Bay so I'm always shipping packages and would have no problem helping anyone out. Each kit is $20, calculators are $5 =D
i actually decided to try the new program...i paid 90$ (17 international shipping to canada) for the deluxe kit w/calculator)...i prefer to do it at home too.
kim, if you could have i totally would have taken you up on that and paid you extra.
i have a feeling whoever i bought from on ebay was affiliated with ww, because she was selling A LOT of new ww stuff. ww must know a ton of people would try and buy on ebay lol
Actually, WW stuff is not allowed to be sold on Ebay. I have seen WW get stuff pulled. It's considered copyrighted materials and membership only and thus, a violation. I asked about it at my center and they even said that any WW stuff sold on Ebay is NOT affiliated with WW and that whoever is selling is buying up stuff at the centers and reselling for a profit. Which I think is unfair because I know a lot of people who wanted to buy kits at centers and they were sold out. I mean the price hikes on the stuff is insane! I paid $35 for the deluxe kit with calculator and even when the promo is over, he price will be $45
Hello Kimberly, do you think you could get a calculator and ship to Canada, lol, I do WW online, and dont want to go to the meetings they are all in french, and for me takes me twice as long to understand. I sell and buy on ebay as well, so payment will not be a problem.

I can definately pick one up at my next meeting which is Wednesday, I think they are still $5. I can ship using First Class International which will only be a few dollars, not too bad. I just need the address you'd like it shipped to and if you'd like you can inbox me at my Yahoo address- [email protected]
