if you go to the market place and search weight watchers points calculator it will give you various app names. there will be one called ultimate point calculator.
its a free app and i checked its accuracy of values with my actual points plus calculator.
it doesnt track but it does have the ability to enter the values just like the calculator you can buy.

hope this helps

i use the WWDiary, I have the same phone, and I love the app, but how do i calculate how many points I am allowed daily?

julie I don't think there is one for blackberry yet, my dh has a blackberry and we keep checking on there for him, I have a droid and they have many so I wish blackberry would hurry up and get some on there as well.

Hi Guys... I'm have a hard time getting back on program after the holidays.... anyone else? I keep starting off my day OK and then by the middle of the day, blowing it.

I just bought their PP calculator this evening because since I'm out of work, I won't be able to keep up with the monthy cost.

If they have one for the iphone once your subscription runs out, please do post it.

I'm going to miss it but then again, I used the computer more to put in my calculations.

I had one. They updated it when the new program came out but the reviews said it was aweful and inacurate. I never used it for the old points, so I didn't even bother checking it for the new ones. I just deleted it

iphone app

Hi

Anyone know if there is an iphone app for PointsPlus without joining? I can't afford it right now and really want the app for my phone.

brookelynne 01-04-2011 05:14 PM

I have a BlackBerry and there is a WW app available for free from BlackBerry App World. When you download it to the BlackBerry, the app asks for your etools log in information. I think that you have to have etools in order to use this app. I assume that if you are not subscribed to etools that this app can not be used as a stand alone.

I find this app to be very useful and eliminates the need for me to carry around multiple gadgets. I always have my BlackBerry with me and can calculate PPV wherever I happen to be.

brooklynne, I'm kinda thinking that's the same deal with the iphone. So, therefore since i don't want to lose that, and I still do want the recipe builder for things I might make, I may go ahead and do the online at least.

then I won't need this calculator I just bought.. grrrrrr.

brookelynne 01-05-2011 12:31 PM

Hi Tytbody

The WW calculator can still come in handy, since it stores data. I understand that it also will take you through the necessary steps to determine your daily point value, and can be used as a regular calculator. The BB app doesn't do all that, it just calculates PPV.

For me, the BB app is great for doing quick PPVs. I also access etools on my BlackBerry, so I don't need a separate calculator. YMMV

I gottcha. I'm going to not sign up again. I've decided. there isn't much online does for ya.

What does it give you that you need?

derrydaughter 01-05-2011 01:05 PM

Someone mentioned on another thread that a good rule of thumb (not exact but if you have nothing else....) to use in a pinch to replace the points calculation is to divide by 40.
So, if you have something that is 160 calories, it's probalby about 4 points?
I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, as I have a points calculation and use it, but thought I'd share. I can test one or two items if you want to give it a go. I need protien, carb, fat and fiber of a certain thing.

I think that etools is an excellent resource. I spend a lot of time on my computer and BlackBerry, so I really like being able to do all of my tracking on etools. I prefer this to using a paper tracker. Etools has a lot of good information that I have not seen elsewhere. Since I did not buy any of the kits or other materials when I joined WW in December, I rely on etools and the weekly meetings to give me the information that I need to succeed on this program.

tytbody 01-05-2011 02:14 PM

so tell me what did you learn. That's the key?

brookelynne 01-05-2011 03:16 PM

Cheryl

I can't really say that I "learned" much about losing weight. I already knew to eat less, watch portions, move more, etc. I think that WW affirms what I already know about that, and provides accountability and support. Also, WW members often make very good recommendations about products that I might otherwise not try. It might sound a little juvenile, but I like the way WW celebrates successes, but does not condemn "hiccups". My first 5 lb. star meant a lot to me, and I am looking forward to celebrating my 5% and 10% goals.

When I think about it, it's kind of like what I feel when I come to this site. 3FC members provide a lot of useful information and support.
