Why do I keep gaining?

  • I am so upset I don't know what to do anymore. I committed myself back to WW a few weeks ago and am not losing...as a matter of fact I am GAINING. I weighed myself today and am up 3 pounds from last week. And it's not like I over ate yesterday or anything. I have been on plan, drinking all of my water, etc. I don't even use all of my flex points. I am so upset. I hate myself and wish I could just go live on an island alone and be fat...I know that sounds dramatic but I feel as if I am being judged all the time. And I know people have better things to do than look at how fat I am LOL! I wonder if I reduce my daily points i it would help? Well, I just hope that maybe this new program will help me....
  • What has your weight been like? Any losses at all? Is it that time of the month? Have you visited your doctor to rule out any medical issues? Have you been weighing and measuring your food to make sure your serving sizes are accurate? Have you been exercising?
  • Well, last year at this time I was 30 pounds lighter as a result of WW. Gradually it came back as I fell off plan -and 13 of those pounds have come back since June. I seriously have NOT been eating like I used to so the gain seems excessive. But anyway like I said, I recommitted and have had no luck. I thought it was because of TOM, but that ended last week. I had a complete blood work-up so there are no medical issues. I even really cut ot almost all sugars , plus haven't had any soda the past week, haven't had alcohol since August. I have been doing the program like I did last time I lost: measuring, etc. I just feel huge-like REALLY bloated and it doesn't seem right with what I am eating. Like I said, I didn't even over do it at all yesterday: I had turkey, a ton of broccoli, a bit of stuffing and the worst was a dinner roll (no butter). No mashed potatoes, no gravy, and I didn't even have dessert. Ugh.
  • Hi!

Do you exercise a lot? If you do the issue may be that you're not eating enough! I use all of my daily points plus my Flex and Activity Points every week. I also track everything in a notebook or on my computer in a notepad page I created. Try tracking everything for a solid week and see if that may be the issue.

I know exactly how you feel, at my highest weight of 267 I was always uncomfortable and felt like people were always watching me and talking behind my back. It's not a nice feeling but you CAN do this and as hard as it sounds be patient and don't be so hard on yourself!
  • You said you weighed yourself so I assume this wasn't at a WW meeting.

Could your scale be not very accurate. I had a scale a while back that just wasn't accurate and could vary a lot from one time to the next.

Also did you weigh each time at the same time of day and wearing the same thing.

I do weigh myself between meetings but always weigh myself before I eat or drink anything and wearing what I wear for WW meeting weigh ins.

Also, even if your Thanksgiving meal was good you may have eaten more than on a typical day (although still on program) and so might be up a bit today.
