My cold's back again. Just when I thought it was gone. :(

One of my housemates is off to Virginia for the weekend. I'm glad it looks like the crazies have been captured. We've been giving her all these directions eg: buy gas in PA, no stopping til you get to your friends house, no dining out near an interstate, etc. Hopefully things will be returning to normal.

This leaves me home alone for the weekend. I'm going to cook up a turkey breast roll. We have these wonderful FRESH ones from a local naturally raised, turkey farm. I have all kinds of fresh califlower and broccoli to cook up and I'll do up some brown rice. That should take care of most of my meals for the weekend. MMMMM Good!

JEN: Take it easy today sounds like yesterday was a toughie. SOOO .... are we going to get to see a picture of the costumes? Last year's were adorable.

DETERMINEDTHISTIME: (We've gotta find a way to shorten your name) I've heard about virtualmodel but haven't visited there yet. I will one of these days tho.

Back to work now but I'm taking tomorrow off.

Have a healthy, happy OP day,

determinedthistime 10-24-2002 06:15 PM

Well you can call me Dawna if you like I know determinedthistime is long but it is really what I'd like to think of myself. This time I am determined. Today was a good day. I went to weigh in at lunch time and was down 4 lbs, and I would like to thank all of you. Really you guys had alot to do with it. I love the online thing maybe this is just what I needed. Thanks again.
Jen- what kind of costumes are you making. I am dressing my twins up (there 6yrs) as Elvis and Marilyn Munro. The older one (she's 10) is a cheerleader. I am just about finished (that has to happen this weekend) they need their costumes for Monday that's when the parties start.
J-ann sorry to here about your cold comming back. Hopefully you can shake it - get lots of rest and drink lots of water that always helps me.
Well I guess I should get going another night out. This time a have a baby shower for two of the girls at work. Maybe tomorrow I can relax afterwork.
Take care all and talk to you later.
Dawna

Hello!

I'm recovered from my walk and have finished one costume (a milk maid, circa 1600) and still have the other (a high born lady, circa 1780) to go. It should be done tonight - then pictures sometime this weekend. Yea, I'll share. *g* I'm going dressed up in my Sari (the kids wanted me to make an historical costume for me as well but I just couldn't see where the time would come form).

I hope you're feeling better, J-ann!

And Dawna, the kids costumes sound just ADORABLE!

determinedthistime 10-25-2002 05:48 PM

Hi everyone. Just a short note just got home from work and I need to relax tonight. I feel I have been going non-stop I guess I have with all the overtime I've put in and again on Sat and Sun. Oh well it will be nice to have some extra days off. Anyway how is everyone doing? Take care and talk to you later. Dawna

Chatty 10-25-2002 08:34 PM

Thought I would check in. Have had a couple of stressful days and have not really gotten in all my water or exercise, but hopefully this weekend, I will get my butt back in gear. It is cold, damp and rainy here in Indiana, so I have opted out of the football game tonight for my daughter's school. DH and DD went, so I have some quiet time at home and will join them for the post game mortem in a few hours.
Jen...your costumes sound wonderful. Surely these are not for trick or treat, are they? Sound much to complicated for that.
Dawna....I remember when my kids were small enough to dress up for trick or treat. It was always such a blast. Now I get to enjoy the neighbor kids and all my neices and nephews. Enjoy it now, it seems you blink and your kids are all grown up!
Anyone up for a Thanksgiving challenge? I would like to loose 5-10# before that time. Anyone interested? We could maybe post a new thread. Just an idea to help get myself motivated!
Have a great weekend....Chatty

Hi, I'm new to this thread, but I"m in the same boat as everyone here pretty much. At the beginning of my weight loss journey I had 123 pounds to lose. Now I've lost 21 of those pesky pounds and am still feeling strong...except for last nights binge. :( Anyway, glad to see everyone here, and hope to become a regular poster on this thread!
Have a great day!

j-ann 10-28-2002 11:14 AM

Morning ladies!!!!!

JEN: Love the costumes. The kids are sure growing up. Did you find any new yarns at the fair??

CHATTY: The Thanksgiving Challenge is a great idea. :cp: I'll try for 5 lbs myself. (of course this means I'll have to WI and see how much damage I've done the past few weeks.) :dizzy:

KIRA: WELCOME 21 lbs. :bravo: That's more than 1/5 of 100 lbs. You go girl. :cp: :cp:

DETERMINEDTHISTIME: Dawna, Thanksgiving down here is Thurs. 28 Nov. Gives us one month for the Challenge.

TERRI: WHERE ARE YOU? WE MISS YOU!

KiraR 10-28-2002 04:54 PM

Thanks for the welcome. Great costumes!

determinedthistime 10-28-2002 07:44 PM

Hi everyone - Welcome Kira. How is everyone today. I just got back from the first Halloween party and Elvis was a big hit - the bath tub is black now from washing out the black hair spray. Oh well he enjoyed himself, now he's eating all the candy he got tonight - hope I can get him to bed tonight. I am just finishing up the cheerleader costume and I think that's it except for the baking I need for the rest of the parties. Anyway back to the challenge I'm in as I said before I'll aim for 10 lbs that way the Christmas out fit for the work parties should only look better right. Well I'm off and hope everyone has a good night and talk to you later. Dawna

Good morning ladies!

I'm here! I'm alive! I just went through a phase of being disenchanted with posting, with WW, with same old same old. I just get tired of thinking this all the time and getting nowhere. My focus is so darn fragile and my resolve is just plain weak. I've been pondering why, if I want to lose weight, why do I sabotage myself so much? What am I hanging onto besides fat? Trying to Dr. Phil myself.

I have noticed that when I journal and plan and really keep within my points the best, I'm not exercising. When I get the exercising going right, I allow myself to eat too much and journalling and planning fall by the wayside. Hmmmmm. :?:

Anyway, cardio exercise is out for at least a month; probably the rest of the winter. I finally went to the doctor about my hip - why does it hurt sometimes, why does it feel like its out of place sometimes, etc. She took lots of x-rays and thank goodness I hadn't gone to a chiropracter because I have an old fracture in my hip. Who knows when this happened but the ligament was torn so hard at one time it pulled off a piece of bone. You'd think you'd remember something like that but it could have been months or years ago. I've put off the doctor for so long now I can't remember when this really started. :o So no walking, no biking (weather sucks anyhoos), no videos.

My goal for between now and Thanksgiving is to start WW anew. Back to journalling, back to saying NO to the food and getting a grip on snacking and portion sizes. I can still do hand weight exercises and situp type things. But I won't even count those in as exercise points.

The weather here truly is miserable. Its been cold and wet for more than a week now. No sunshine at all!! That means - dogs in the house all the time. Big Bear tore his knee out again and had unexpected surgery about a week ago. So we've been going through the healing process one more time. Its just hard keeping him calm; he has so much puppy energy. I'm thinking doggie ludes. So life has been about the dogs for the last week.

Jen - The kids are so adorable. You've very talented with the creative stuff. Animal Fiber Fair?? Is that like lambswool?? You do such fun sounding things.

Kira, Dawna, Chatty - Welcome to the group. I've been posting here for more than two years I guess. But I'd taken a hiatus for a bit.

J-Ann: You're colorful as ever! How's the cold? DH has one and has been moping around for a few days now. There really isn't much you can do but mope with a cold. They truly make you feel miserable. Feel better soon! How was your weekend?? The turkey sounds great. I'm ready for a Sunday turkey any time now.

I better get ready for work. Have a great OP day!

Chatty 10-29-2002 08:31 PM

Evening Ladies,
It is cold, dark and damp here in Indiana tonight. I could not believe it but today, we had about 2 hours of snow! I mean big old snowflakes that came down long and hard! Of course, it did not stick because the ground is so warm, but still snow in October is not a good omen for the winter ahead! Last year for Halloween, we sat in our front wicker chairs to hand out candy, it was so pretty, but not this year. Temperatures are suppose to be in the 20's for Halloween night...BRRRR for all the little ghosts and goblins!
As for me, my WI at home showed a 3# loss! :D Yea for me! I am on my way for the Thanksgiving challenge. This week I need to concentrate on drinking my water. Have not done really good this past week..so that is my goal this week....DRINK, DRINK, DRINK!
Jen..your outfits are beautiful. You sound like you live in a interesting place. Just what the heck is a Animal Fiber Fair???
Dawn...Our Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November. Let me know when your ship does come in...maybe I can jump on for a ride!
Kira....21 # gone! Wahoo for you!
Terri...when you Dr. Phil your answer, let us know the secret! It is an interesting question of why we do this to ourselves. :?: I have started journaling on the weight issue and my childhood so I can hope to see if I can find the answer. It is like I too sabotage myself with this issue. Hope your hip starts to feel better!
Well better scoot! Hope everyone has a great Wednesday and keeping working on that Thanksgiving challenge!
Chatty

10# Thanksgiving Challenge -3# with 7 left to go!

KiraR 10-29-2002 08:36 PM

Thanks Chatty! It's supposed to snow here this week too, but not much. It's been dreary here, very gray and damp.

I worked out today, and I'm really glad. Just a small workout, but it was definitely worth it.

Hope all is well!

Terri in MO 10-30-2002 07:24 AM

Good morning ladies!

Well we are in for our ninth day of cold, dreary, drizzle. NINE days without sunshine. Maybe, tomorrow. Chatty, just a few degrees colder and we'd have your snow too. So far, fall has not been a good one this year.

I've journalled for two days now. I'm right at the top of my points but it takes me a day or two to adjust. At least I'm being accountable.

I've started to use the 3FC journal so I can explore the reasons why I sabotage myself. I am very protective of my home as I consider it my place to come to and hide from the stresses of the world (kinda like a turtle). Its my safe place. I love having people over but when I invite them not just dropbys. I'm starting to acknowledge that food is a safe place for me too. Or used to be when I was single and lonely and all I was doing was working and going to college at night. I think I really haven't let go of that safety. I don't need it anymore so I'm going to really try to stay focused on that and see if that helps.

As far as Thanksgiving challenge, I'd like to get back down to 260 by staying focused on journalling and planning.

Have a great day ladies!
