Frozen meals and canned soups?
Hello All,
This question may have already been asked but I haven't come across it..:?: I don't see WW fans talk about the frozen meal entrées/desserts, canned soups, etc. My question is, does anybody eat these a lot? If not, why not? If so, then what are some of the products or specific frozen entrées/desserts you like? I haven't been but to 1 meeting and I didn't know if they discouraged us against to many pre-packaged foods or what. I'm just curious because I love having a simple meal at lunch time..:D |
You are supposed to concentrate on filling foods and only occasionally use packaged foods like that. Both contain way more sodium than is healthy. The frozen meals don't have enough protein. Nutritionally frozen meals are not worth the money. I make extra at dinner and freeze it for lunches.

I find prepackaged soups to be way too high in sodium. I used to eat the frozen meals when I had the luxury to supplement them with other foods, but now I find that I can get a lot more food for the 5-6 points that a typical frozen meal costs than what they include.
Now I do treat myself to the desserts. ;) My favorite are vitatops, skinny cow ice creams and once in awhile, the WW sundaes. |
I prefer Lean Cuisine to SmartOnes, and I just don't really find soup filling.

I ate a ton of them during school last semester because I was often out of the house for breakfast, lunch, and supper, 5 days a week. They are *okay* tasting - they'd fill me up especially when paired with something else to complete the meal - but I don't think they were especially healthy as others have pointed out.
This year I am going to be putting a lot more effort into cooking and freezing. As far as favorites go, I liked most of the gourmet-branded SmartOnes. They do a pretty great job of keeping the veggies palatable. I also liked the stir-fry and the shrimp marinara for the regular varieties. |
I eat them almost everday for lunch. I too prefer the lean cuisines. I always pair it with a HUGE salad and yogurt. I find it quick and easy. For dinner I make my own meals as I always eat supper with my kids.
I did look at the sodium content at I did not find it that bad. I do not hit anywhere near the max for daily consumption. Personal choice I guess. I do enjoy the desserts as well, however an ice milk is just as yummy as ice cream and typically 1 point less. |
I do not eat them simply because I have celiac disease and a majority of them contain wheat! I love to cook and I cook all the time and save things and bring it to work just easier for me. If you found some you like then use them. Its better than not being prepared and getting off track

Thanks for the responses. I guess it's up to the individual. I'll eat them and if I'm having trouble with losing, I'll know that it might be because of the sodium..:D I figured either the sodium would be too high or it's just not enough food but I always pair them with veggies and a piece of fruit anyway.. Thanks for ALL the help.
