diet coke question

I'm drinking ice water as often as i can as i heard that you can burn like 10lbs a year as it boosts your metabolism trying to warm the water up (every little helps lol)

But my main source of fluids is diet coke! I was a coke addict (soda....not the powdered stuff lol) for years and it's taken a while to get on board with and start loving diet coke. Now that I have, im worried about how much i should be drinking. I could easily go through a litre a day. Is this bad?

I know its got no points but I've learnt recently that 0pts +/x 0pts doesnt always equal 0! So any advice would be awesome.

I don't think diet coke ever counts as points becaue it never has any calories. The zero isn't always zero works for things like no sugar added fudge pops (which are zero for 1, but 1 pont for 2) because the calories go up to 80 when you eat two. At least that is my understanding of the rule.
As far as diet coke goes, I would limit myself to one or two a day. I think it causes me (and studies have proven) to crave more food, particularly sweets. I also feel like I need to drink double the water for every diet coke that I consume. That is just what I have found. The more I drink, the slower the weight loss. Hope this helped!

thanks so much. Thats what i thought but got a bit panicky thinking i could be wrong.

Diet coke doesnt have any side effects for me. Coke used to make me a bit twitchy and my heart race really fast.

I do go through phrases where i cant live without diet coke then phases when i dont want it at all but i find it doesnt really affect my weight loss.

Thanks again for the reply.

Cola drinks are very hard on your kidneys. It is best to limit them to no more than one can a day. The sweetener in them can also make you crave carbs.

Diet coke will always be Zero Points ... BUT ... sometimes sodas/sweet drinks will actually trigger you to 'feel' hungry when you're really not. I switched to mixing it up with zero calorie lemonade and weaned myself off of the DC. Try that! It might help!

yea diet coke's pretty alright in itself but (and i cant remember where i got this info but...) the chemicals in it trick you into thinking you need to eat or something like that, so if you can deal with feeling hungary then you sorted :)

For me the only bad thing about drinking diet coke (or any carbonated beverage) is the negative effects it has on bones.

A can of diet coke will actually make me feel fuller or take away my sweet craving, but recently I have been trying to cut back because there is osteoporosis in my family. It also never seemed to make a difference on my weight loss.

hi is it the same thing with diet rite??

My WW leader a few years ago told me that diet coke can cause fluid retention as well which may hinder the weight loss progress.

In saying that I drink it like water most days and am having good losses every week.

Just remember it is not good for your body at all and water will always be better :D

Uh oh...I, too, drink Diet Coke like water. I'm soooo addicted :(

Aspartame is a huge ingredient in diet coke and there have been studies out there saying it is linked to Alzheimers. Also if you read the book Skinny ***** I am sure most of you would not ever drink it again. It talks about how Apartame is produced. It was refused by the USDA more than once back in the 70's because of the known dangers back then, but of course the companies that made it paid enough people off to make it legal again. Be careful of all artificial things. Our bodies are just not made to process alot of it. Best wishes on your journey. I too was addicted to Soda. My choice was pepsi. I dont thing I was ever seen not drinking it. But this time around I cut it out cold turkey.
