Sounds like everyone's doing great, including me! :D

I worked yesterday. Usually I am challenged by the spread of bagels and donuts they put out for the seminar attendees, but yesterday I wasn't even tempted! Woohoo!!

Have been continuing my morning walk every day with my next-door neighbor. She has various health problems and is also very overweight but trudges along bravely. I find myself getting impatient as I can walk faster than she can and sometimes I feel like I could be getting more benefit out of the time I'm spending. Then I have to remind myself that at least, walking with her, I'm keeping the committment to do it. Even a 45-minute stroll is better than nothing at all. I'm sure when ice and snow come along we'll stop until spring and then I can "up the ante" with exercise videos.

Need to run to the office to drop off paperwork before it gets too hot -- supposed to be mid-90's today, but cooler tomorrow. Then it's a quick trip to the quilt store to pick up a spool of quilting thread -- Tasha the Feline Queen has hidden the spool I had and refuses to bring it back -- then to the store to get some green leafy stuff for salads. Then I can retire to my cool basement and make that sewing machine hum ...

Congratulations to everyone for all your hard work ... let's keep on keeping on ... Donna

Hi, everyone.

J-Ann, I love your colorful posts. They cheer me up. Way to go on that loss, too!

Yesterday I talked with a trainer at the health club. She would like to get me started doing weight training and is willing to give me a free session. I'll have to tell her I can't afford to pay her for any subsequent sessions and then see if she's still interested in doing this. After talking with her, I actually went and tried some of the weight machines (not sure what to call them; you work out different parts of your body). Yikes! They were actually kind of fun, once I figured them out. I want to add some strength to my cardio workouts.

There was one machine, I had to laugh. You do situps with it. Well, I tried sitting up -- and couldn't. After several tries, I figured the machine was broken or something. Nope. It wasn't. So I tried a few more times -- and FINALLY did a couple of situps on it! Sheesh!

Oh, forgot to mention -- this trainer wants to take my fat/muscle ratio. BLAH!!!! She said I definitely should do this so that over time I can see if my strength training is working. I told her I'd probably just get depressed. Well, we'll see.

I'm down a pound this week, which surprised me, since I'm in the throes of PMS and ended the week a couple points over my max. The exercise probably made up for it. I definitely don't lose weight well anymore without plenty of exercise. Just a fact of life now. Anyway, I'm starting to see the end of the 180s, and I'm really looking forward to it. I've been here (and the low 190s) for what feels like a very looooooong time -- since early April, I think.

Have a great day, Long Runners!

Onward and downward,

Lauren

I'm at work and really shouldn't be here :D but here's more news on the forum shut down:

From:Suzanne 3FC

Hello

As many of you know, we are preparing to move 3FC to a new server, and this move will probably occur this weekend. A few things you will need to know:

1) Any time a server move is made, the DNS must propagate before you can access the site. There will be a duplicate of our main site on both servers for a week, so no one will notice the change. However, the forum located on the old server will be closed and the forum on the new server will be opened. This prevents anyone from posting on the old server and wondering why their posts never show up on the new one. Once the DNS has propagated, you will see the open forum. How long will this take? Generally between 1 and 3 days, depending on how quickly your own ISP updates their records.

2) If you are currently accessing the site via the IP address instead of the domain, you will not be able to access the site after the move. We know that a LOT of people are still accessing the site via the IP, as this shows in our logs. After the move, go to www.3fatchicks.com and navigate to the forum from there. Make sure you update your bookmarks.

The last time we moved to a new server, many people could not find us because they weren't using the domain. We received email for over a month from people asking if we were ever going to reopen. Remember... IPs change, but the domain stays the same

3) Once you have reached the forum on the new server, you MAY need to reset your cookies., depending on your browser. Delete your cookies, then log back in to the forum to reset them.

4) Custom user styles (aqua, shell pink, storm, and the current default) will be removed. Custom styles must be removed to allow for coding revisions. Don't be surprised to see a new look for the forum. This will be only slightly different from the current default style.

5) E-mail will also experience a temporary problem due to the DNS propagation. Therefore, requests for log-in information cannot be processed until this has completed. Likewise, any requests for help via the feedback or forum assistance forms will not be received.

Finally...

We anticipate closing the forum this Friday night at midnight (ET) and reopening early Monday morning at the very latest.

Hi everyone. My name is Janet and I am a registered nurse from Roseville, MN (suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul). I am in my 30's, fast approaching 40 and have been overweight much of my life (I think I was normal weight when I was born, but after that...) Please bear with me as I am new to all of this. I just invested in a computer that will do more than word processing and am new at "surfing the web". So you will see that my posting doesn't have all the fun smiley faces (haven't figured that out yet) or a picture by my name (that either) and I'm still trying to figure out the exact definition of a thread. I have two college degrees, you'd think I'd have a clue! Fortunately, I love to figure things out so I hope my postings will become more creative in the future - then look out! The 3FC site was the first site I checked out and I am glad I found you guys.

I joined WW tonight for about the 104th (or is it 105th) time. And weighed in at 344lbs. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. But the long haul is definitely the right place for me. I have alot of bad habits (obviously) and am soooooo tired of living like this. I've joined WW before and at one time had lost over 110 pounds, but stopped going and gained it back. So I know I can do it. But reading about everyone else's successess is a great motivator for me. I love picking up those magazines in the grocery stores with the before and after pictures. Now I can just come here. Thanks!

Hi Everybody!

:p It's so hot here, 101 yesterday, that's it's hard to eat my minimum points. You won't hear me say that very often! :dizzy:

I spent most of Tues., day and night, up and down to the pottie. I bet I dropped 5 lbs. of water. Why couldn't it have been Sunday?:s: I'll soak most of it back up by WI on Monday.:(

DONNA: WOOHOO is right! Beating back the bagels at seminars is a BIG ONE. Good for you. :cp:

LAUREN: I have weight training on my "to do list". Don't have the courage to try it yet. Have to make myself face aerobics first. :) I'll bet my BMI is off the scale but everyone says that it's what will really show you how much the weight training does for you. Get it done.:^: And CONGRATS on losing that pound. It's always more incentive when you get near a 10 lb. number change!

JANET: Welcome! Stop in anytime. You sound psyched to change you lifestyle and do what's right for your body. We're here and will help as much as we can.

Okay off to work. Talk to you all later.

Hello long runners,

Food hasn't been too good this week. Mostly due to stress at work and making poor choices late at night. I'm on vacation now for the remainder of this week and the next. It should have been a great day but my dad called this morning to say that our baby horse, Glory, died last night. Mom said it was pretty awful as she must have gotten spooked and tried to jump through some fence and didn't clear a fence pole. We are so heartbroken and my parents are even worse because they have been raising her and loved her so much. It kills me that mom found her. It breaks my heart even more to know that all the other horses were standing around with her and wouldn't leave her as she fought for and lost her precious life. I grieve for poor mama Ginger. I can barely type this out because it makes it real. You try to tell yourself that they are just animals but it hurts so much nevertheless.

I'm sorry to have posted my sorrow but I needed to let some of it out to others.

Take care.

j-ann 08-15-2002 04:45 PM

OMG Terri, I'm so sorry. We've always bred dogs and no matter how many you have ,one or twenty five, you never, ever, are prepared to lose a young one. Especially one who is growing and doing just fine. My heart goes out to you and the family. You did you best for Glory so please, don't you, or your Mom, try to take the blame for her death. Go ahead and mourn her. Remember her as the happy, playful foal who brought you all joy during her short time on this earth.

IS ANYBODY OUT THERE? IS THERE A FLURRY OF BROKEN WRISTS OR WHAT? :?:

I feel almost all alone here. I showered, honest I did.

Remember, the site will be down from midnight tonight til Sunday or Monday.

Yesterday I aquajogged for 45 minutes then took my regular class, another 45 min. I also thru a walking tape into the VCR but only lasted 15 min. (and it was the one for folks over 40!!! :p )
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good walking video for rank beginners?

I'm still OP. 2.5 weeks since I got my act back together and still counting. It sure makes me feel a lot better to know I'm doing so well.

COME ON LADIES, Let's fill this thread before we have to go COLD TURKEY :o for the weekend.

Have a great O.P.day,

Terri in MO 08-16-2002 02:29 PM

Hey J-Ann:

I'm here just not feeling too great or too focused. I'll get refocused on Sunday. DH and I are going down to the farm on Saturday to see mom & dad and see how mama Ginger is doing. Also to face the fact that Glory is gone.

Hope everyone else is doing great.

LaurenH 08-16-2002 02:51 PM

Terri, I'm so sorry to hear about Glory. :( How very sad.

Hope you're all doing well. I'm in TOM mode and so am fighting to stay within my points. Gaaah! Better go work out tonight!

Have a good weekend, everyone.

Terri,
Sorry to hear about Glory. I started crying when I read your story and my heart goes out to you and your family. I worked as a vet tech for 11 years before I went into nursing, and have been through many final good-byes with my animal patients and their families - and our animal friends are part of our family and our hearts. God bless...

Just got back from a great Herbalife training in Cincinnatti. Felt really good to be able to stand up in the "results" section and announce 11 lbs. lost in two weeks.

J-Ann: what walking tape do you have? I've used Leslie Sansone's walking tapes ... they're very good ...

Finally have both my web sites up and running. If anyone would like to take a look, they're at www.self123.com and www.thediet123.com. Feel free to browse!

Oops, better run or I'll be late for church. Have a great day, everyone!
Donna

BOY OH BOY am I glad we're back up and running. I can't access from home yet but from work I can (obviously:)). Fell off track yesterday so today I have to recover. I think, it was just a stupid slip tho and I should be OK.

DONNA: BIG CONGRATS! That's soooo cool! Keep it up Lady.

Gotta get to work now.

Terri in MO 08-19-2002 09:50 AM

Hi ladies,

We finally have rain!!!! We've actually had rain three times since I've been on vacation. I'll try not to complain but it sure is cutting into our planned outdoor activities. Oh well. I really haven't felt very up anyway the last few days. DH and I did go to the farm on Saturday and face the fact that our first baby is gone. It was hard because my mom is so heartbroken. She loves those babies so much and the two of them playing gave both mom and dad so much pleasure. So, its been hard for me not to fall into emotional eating and forgetting all my goals. We can be so up and strong and in control one day and give it up so quickly when something hurts us. So my real challenge this week will be to get myself back into the strong mode. Thanks for all the kind words; it really helped.

We have officially lost both our trees in the front yard. Some of you may remember that we had a big ice storm in January that did a lot of damage. We lost the locust thorn tree (not a real loss) and the other tree was damaged pretty good too. We have been talking about cutting it down and planting a pin oak more in front of the window. We got home Saturday afternoon to find the remaining top of the tree laying in the yard. Must have had strong winds with the rain. We're really lucky it didn't damage the house because it had been hanging over pretty low. It could have knocked out the whole front window if it had broken off entirely. I'll have to sweet talk a brother into coming with his chainsaw (again) and cut the whole tree down. More firewood for mom & dad! That was a long story about a tree!

I think we're going to see movies today since its raining. It was supposed to be yard work day but its definitely too wet.

I haven't had breakfast yet so I can stay that I'm still OP for the day!! Having written that, I have a new resolve to be OP all day.

Have a great OP day ladies!

j-ann 08-20-2002 09:19 AM

GRRRRR!

Went to WI last night. Gained 2 lbs. :( Something tells me that my idea of correct portion size went to **** at the Chinese Buffet last Thurs. Then there was the fast food disaster on Sunday. I really have to work on the fast food thing. Can't seem to get to 3 weeks without slipping there. Gotta get stronger :strong: about that one.

Well, yesterday was OP, and today I WILL BE (so there!!!).

Gotta run ... work is calling.
