Points Bracelets!!!
A few weeks ago, I read on the WW site, that someone bid and received a "Points Bracelet" that was similar to the one that WW is selling in test market areas. I went to ebay, saw the bracelet, and made my own! I have found that it really does make keeping track of the points that I have eaten for the day a lot easier, and I don't need to stop and use a calculator, or journal.
I have 24 silver beads, 6 crystals, and two bubble heart beads (one bigger than the other), and a silver open-heart charm on a lobster claw. I start at the smaller heart to show that I am going from less points to more, and I move the charm to show the number of points I use during the day. I love wearing it!!! It is so pretty, and like I said, no knows that it is anything more than a pretty bracelet! Crafters, check out the ebay site to see what it looks like. Usually there are several clones out there, but at least one original. (The original sells for around $35.00.) The ones on ebay go for around 20.00. Not a crafter? After seeing the ones on ebay, if you are interested, I would be happy to email you a pic of mine, and I could add up the cost, and make one for you. My email addy is: [email protected]. Check it out! |
I have also made some for myself. Since it is Summer I made anklets also. The craft stores sell some really nice glass beads.

Points Bracelet
Hi tchr!
I did a quick check on ebay for the points bracelet and I didn't find it. I'm not very ebay savy, so I'll try again. It sounds like a very clever idea. Thanks for sharing it. I'm just curious about the concept. Why the 24 silver and 6 crystal beads? What is your point range? Thanks.... |
Points bracelet
Hi tchr,
I had better luck pulling it up on ebay this time. It answered my questions for me. Thanks again! |
I would like a bracelet. If anyone is making them. Send me a PM I would love to purchase one.
Thanks! |
Just wanted to say I think this is an awsome idea. :) I will have to try to make one sometime. My only problem is that I can't wear jewelry at work. :( I work in a food factory) But if I didn't I would wear one all the time. It's very innovative. ....Sis

I have never done this before, so I didn't think about paypal. I will look inot it right now, and get back with you.
Thanks for the suggestion.:) |
You should not post your address on the board. That could be very dangerous!
|
Thanks Pryia, I have edited my post.:)

I think yours is much more beautiful than the ones on e-bay. send me your address to "[email protected]" and I'll send you a check today.

Your Bracelet is very nice...
I too had seen them on ebay sometime back. My question is "How do you move the charm around?" Is it easily removed or does it slip over the othe beads?? Great idea!! You did a great job and from what I saw on ebay your price is good....
Keep up the good work! emmy |
Thanks, Emmy. The charm is a removable lobster claw clasp. It opens easily and I just move the charm over. I really find it keeps me motivated to keep track of my points, especially when I am out. I am a teacher, and I think this will be easier for me to use than my palm pilot, because It's right there, and takes less than 10 seconds to use. I didn't always have time to take out my pilot to journal last year. And the kids always look to see what I'm wearing!;)

Just a thought...
I actually wear a sterling silver belcher bracelet (the ones with the big padlock) every day and I'm going to buy a nice charm and have a lobster claw put on that - thanks so much for the idea!

Glad that I could help out!:)

i made my points bracelet, and i have some extra beading supplies, so if anyone wants me to make them one, email me. maybe we could do a swap or something.
[email protected] i made mine with a non-fraying elastic cord thing and the 5 point segments are each different shades of blue/black and white/clear. i like the more eclectic look. my little charm hopper thing is a butterfly bead that i modified to work with the bracelet. i think i'm going to make a key chain one for my sister. she'll love it. andrea |
What a great idea!! Whoever thought of this one will be making lots of money!!
Did everyone get their bead supplies at a craft store? Also, what do you use for the string? Thanks |
I get my sterling silver beads and charms at a bead shop in town who sells beads wholesale to the public. The crystals were purchased as a bead show in town in the spring, and I use heavy gauge stretch cord.

Confused re ww bracelet
ok, explain this to me like i am a 2 year old!
what do the different beads signify as far as point value and/or points used? how do you keep track of points, by moving the charm over? does this affect the bracelet size? ugh, can you tell that i am in the midst of a brain cramp?!? thanks! :) |
basically, for my bracelet, i put on 27 beads. i did this because it's the points range i should really stay in, and 30 beads made a bracelet that was way too big.
the smaller the beads, the more points you can put on it. i think thirty was the standard just so it would cover everyone. the little charm that clips onto the bracelet is moved bead by bead to correspond to the amt of points you eat. ie, you eat a candy bar, you move the charm 7 beads over to signify the 7 points. when you get to your ending color bead, you are out of points for the day. the different color fifth bead is just there to make it easier to count when you eat a 15 point item. it's not too big of a deal. |
Received my points bracelet today... It's beautiful! The silver beads are the best! I'm wearing it with pride, and getting lots of comments from my WW buddies here at work.
Thank you |
I'm really glad...
that you like your bracelet. I know mine has made a big difference in how I keep track of my points. I am glad that I was able to help.

Hi ladies -
I too have been making bracelets and selling them for $10 plus 2.50 postage. If you tell me the 2 colors you want and the type of "charm" and how many points you need I would love to make them for you. I had posted on Ebay for quite some time and I know that the price of most of these is more money than I ask. I use a toggle for the clasp, wire for the "string" and I usually use faux pearls for the separator beads. I haven't tried any anklets yet but thats a great idea. If you are interested email me - I love mine and have made some with hummingbirds for friends. I think of it as just another cool tool to use to keep me honest! |
Great idea - Michaels here I come!
|
Great Idea Tcher I am going to make one today!
|
i wear gold...any other colored beads available? maybe i will make one...hmmm...
|
Points bracelet
I tried the points bracelet. But I really like the points calculator. I just keep it in my purse and pull it out all the time. It seems to be better for me. Any one of these is certainly better than writing it in a journal. I never liked that and I usually cheated or just forgot to write it down
|
houndlvr-what colors are available? i wear blue more than anything so maybe a blue and cream color for me and i would like to order my sister one in blue and white. maybe a baby blue for her and a more navy blue for me (but not too dark-like denim). email me first though k? [email protected] i wish there was a way to make keychains????

I did it!
Okay... I went to Ben Franklin Crafts today and came across some beads that appealed to me. At first, I was thinking of going with some sort of colored bead, but then I decided that I should make the bracelet silver so that I can wear it with anything.
http://www.tweetster.com/bracelet1.jpg Here's a detailed picture of the beads that I used. The beads that I bought were temporarily strung separately (all roses together, all leaves together, all the donut-shaped ones on their own), but I couldn't find any duplicate temp. strands, so I decided to combine them. The donut-shaped ones are the 5th point (or pound). http://www.tweetster.com/bracelet2.jpg Now, I HAD been carrying a lobster claw, but apparently I either set it down or the cashier didn't ring it up and put it in the bag. I did buy a little ladybug charm. I may end up creating a hanging charm out of a combination of a rose and leaf (to keep with the theme). I am amazed at how "hard" it is to get the toggle clasp hooked. :) That's good though because then I know I won't be accidentally losing the bracelet any time soon. I used a double-strand of 33-gauge stainless steel jewelry wire. (I figured that might be stronger than using an elastic band or some sort of thread.) My original intention had been to find sterling silver beads and whatnot, but the store didn't have what I wanted. BUT... the silver metal beads that I DID find were much cheaper. Each set of beads (roses, leaves, donut) was $1.99. The wire was $1.49. The toggle set was $1.99. And the charm was $1.39. The lobster clasp would have been $.59 if I had actually bought it. Total spent: $10.84 (not including the lobster clasp). Without the ladybug charm, $9.44. It would have been cheaper if I had remembered the coupons for 40% and 30% off, but then again I am glad I didn't use them. (Gotta save them for the BIG things!!) |
