WW General Forum Meet and Greet

Here's a nice place to tell each other a little bit about yourself. Although some of the different groups here have their own bio sections, this is a good starting point for us to get to know each other.

Through the years, I have tried many weight loss programs but have had the best success with Weight Watchers. Two things I like best about WW is that I can enjoy the same foods as my family, and that no food is off limits.

My biggest challenge of losing weight is controlling emotional eating.

For years I worked as a Human Resources Director, and I am a real "people person". I am married, the mom of 3 grown children, and grandma to 8 grandchildren. I like to travel, spend time with family, meet new friends here, and listen to music. I especially like anything to do with Walt Disney World!

As a moderator here, if there is any way I might be able to help you, please just let me know. :)

Who will be next to share?

ASH0424 07-14-2009 01:12 AM

My name is Ashley. I am a 24 year old wife and mother to one son, Logan, who will be 2 August 12th. I have been married 5 yrs. as of April 24th and we're currently living in Germany via the Army. I love life here and being able to travel - even my son was born here in Germany. The first time I was on WW I lost 40 lbs and felt fantastic, soon after I had a miscarriage and ballooned back up. About 7 months after that I became pregnant with my son and a year later I had my daughter. We lost my daughter to SIDS in October and then my thyroid was jacked for several months..so yeah I had a lot going on, but no more excuses...I am on to losing now. This is me starting week 5 on the program again and it's coming off slow, but I am losing..this time for good!

Saffytaffy 07-14-2009 11:24 AM

Hello Everyone, My name is Jessica and I am 19 years old. I have struggled with being the chubby one all my life but have never been on a real diet before. I am a nursing student and since starting almost 3 years ago I have seen more pounds pack on. What really got me is buying a pair of jeans and then one I got tired of those and having the buy ANOTHER next size up! I just really dont want to be that person that looks at a picture of themselves five years ago and wonders how did all those pounds get there?? I joined WW about 2 months ago because my friend from school was. So far I really like it and have lost about 8 lbs. My biggest issue so far has been working in a coffee/pizza/pastery shop and getting to eat whatever I want for free. We have these cookies that I am in LOVE with, but are 9 points each! Somedays I literally trade them for dinner which I know is NOT good!! Anyways, I am trying!

strega*luna 08-08-2009 07:43 AM

I'm baaack! Returning to WW for the millionth time but this one's gonna be my last! I'm tired of yo-yoing and don't want to spend the best years of my life battling the scale!

This time I went back to the meetings, not just WW online, feel that I really need the extra support to get to goal once and for all. I'm hoping to find support and encouragement here as well, I need all of the help I can get!

phatchick911 08-13-2009 10:43 PM

Hello Chicks!

My name is Melissa and I am an almost 29 year old woman living in South Western Ontario (5 minutes from Detroit) in Canada.

I work full time at a career I am passionate about, and in my spare time I rescue, breed, raise, train, show and trial my Labrador retrievers. LOVE 'EM, and my weight loss is partly motivated by them!

I did weight watchers 9 years ago and lost 30 lbs, this time, I've lost 30lbs in 12 weeks. I hope to lose another 30!

blackbetty 08-19-2009 10:46 PM

Hi! I've been a member of 3FC for about a year and a half now, but it's been almost that long since I visited the site. As dieting goes, I "fell off the wagon" and stopped coming here, mostly to prevent myself from being reminded how poorly I was doing with my diet.

I'm sort of glad to see that I've only gained 7 pounds since I was last here, but that's still a weight gain, and I'm nowhere near where I want to be. I joined WW for the second time in three years yesterday, and am feeling pretty motivated this time around! I have about 70 lbs to lose, and am off to a great start. I'm looking forward to sharing my ups and downs with you all, as well as reading about what you're all going through! I truly believe that we can achieve anything we set our minds to, as long as we have the support of others to motivate us.

rcb722 08-28-2009 08:28 PM

Hi! I just started WW on Thursday, and I am looking forward to being more involved on this board. I've posted a bit on the SouthBeach board, but I haven't been on for a year or so I think.

My name is Rachel, I am 28, and I am a SAHM to four kids- the oldest is 6, and the youngest is 8 weeks. Now that we have completed our family, I feel like I really need to get busy and get my body back into shape or I will become a little too comfortable with my size.

My mom is a Lifetime Member at WW, losing 56 pounds, so she is a great support at home, but I know it's great to have "friends" with a lot of ideas and opinions. I look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Stephwantstobeskinny 08-31-2009 03:04 PM

I've been doing South Beach for a few months and I was successful at doing it, but I have decided to join WW because the variety of foods is greater and it was a little difficult to cook 2 dinners every evening. I have been a member of this site for a few months now and find it very helpful for dieting questions. I am not going to meetings as extra money is not available right now. I have an old WW book and I am going to give it a whirl on my own. I am a mother of 2. I work part time, but my passion is my family so I do everything I can to spend more time with them.

harlie 09-02-2009 03:52 PM

Joining.....again

I have decided since my clothes are getting tight that it is time to get back to this. I never reached my goal weight I just gave up after a long plateau. I was able to maintain for a year but now the weight is creeping back up and I know my eating habits wit portion control suck!

I hve yet to weigh myself..I am actually scared to. I will be going to my first WW meeting Tomorrow and I will see the damage then.

I have issues with being hard on myself when I work hard to loose the weight don't cheat and workout a lot and see nothing budge on the scale. I also have a competitive Hubby that also needs to and wants to lose weight. He tends to lose it faster then I can and I get mad, though he is being supportive I feel that his doing better is like rubbing it in my face that I can't do as well even though he cheats with eats a lot of bad foods and sits on his butt and doesn't work out at all.

I don't know if I have a goal weight, but I would like to fit into my size 10 pants again. Currently Im n size 12 that are getting a bit tight. I probally have 20-40 lbs to lose.

Sheena41 09-02-2009 06:23 PM

I am Sheena and I am a 47 year old mother of three and a church bookkeeper.
I have lost 12 pounds since starting WW in January. I have not been as dedicated to the plan as I should be but at least I am losing. My WW leader suggested we view September the same as January. It is a great time to start again. School has started for those of us with kids still in school and fall is coming.

I met with a trainer today to start working with weights instead of just doing cardio. I hope it will help me to lose more weight.

LifetimeJourney 09-12-2009 03:27 PM

I'm Steph, a 27 year old single lady who lives in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I started Weight Watchers on 5/13/09 and have lost 34.6 pounds so far on the plan. I originally started the At Work Weight Watchers program but unfortunately my office couldn't get enough interested to continue with the at work meetings. I have now joined at the WW center and look forward to continuing my journey towards my goal weight.

Feral 09-28-2009 08:25 PM

Hi! I'm Feral. I'm 25 and live in Raleigh, NC. I work at a middle school in the Guidance office and am a pre-nursing major. I joined WW January of this year and saw the lbs start to come off and then got derailed. So I'm here to start again! :) My goal is to lose about 70 lbs!

Fat2PhatMAMA 10-01-2009 12:07 PM

Hello everyone...I'm a 25 year old, happily married, mommy of 3 living in CA! I've always been a thicker girl, but after having my children I've become a FAT mom! I have done every diet under the sun, and have constantly struggled with my weight...Back in 2004 right before I got pregnant with my twins, I lost close to 40lbs on WW and did it in about 4 months, looked great and felt awesome...It was hard work and since then I've been looking for "faster" ways to lose...I always go back to fasting, diet pills and low carb diets...I started atkins Monday and by Wednesday morning I knew I needed to sign back up with WW and STICK with it this time...so here I am giving it one more shot and hoping that this forum will help keep me motivated...I have lost 8lbs on my own want to lose about 90 more!!!

GivTLC 10-09-2009 09:02 AM

Hello Everyone! I'm a 46 yr old mother of 2 awesome boys! I joined Weight Watchers 10 weeks ago and have lost 20 lbs. I still have a long way to go...but I find in addition to the weekly meetings, posting here may be yet another way of being held accountable ;)

Thanks in advance for all your support!

fillupthesky 10-12-2009 12:34 AM

hey everyone...

my name is salvina, and i'm from nyc. i'm 26, and i'm a social worker.
i lost weight with weight watchers a few years ago, and i'm back now to lose the rest! i joined about three weeks ago, and i'm slowly getting back to eating healthfully.
that is my main goal- to be healthy...i have about 100lbs to lose, and i know i've got a long way to go, but i'm dedicated this time...no more excuses, just going to finally treat my body well :)

Mollewogg 10-17-2009 10:28 AM

Hi all,

My name is Molly. I am new to posting, but not new to the site. I have lost weight over the last 6 years in a variety of ways, but I didn't try Weight Watchers until the last year. I do it from home and it has really helped me with the last 20lbs so far! :)

Can't wait to get to know you all!

stamperlori 11-01-2009 06:52 PM

Hi, my name is Lori & I'm 48 yrs old with 3 teenagers & an overgrown kid in the house..all of us are too fat :-( I just signed up for WW at work last week. I'm hoping some of the healthy eating will rub off on the rest of the family but it'll be tough - I'm not the chief cook.

I'm eager to do well with this and now it looks like I need to buy a wii fit to get me exercising!

zhorne 11-04-2009 08:20 PM

Hi My name is Jodi I am 37 and the mother of a 10 year old daughter and 3 year old son. I am recently divorced. I have lost nearly 50 pounds and have another 30 to get off. I am struggling with those last 30 and since I know weight watchers works I am going to try it starting today!!

rrc 11-30-2009 03:25 PM

Hello From MI!

Hi All, my name is Robin. I am a 42 year old woman that lives in Northern MI. I have joined WW at least a dozen times in the past. The most I lost was 36 lbs but have since gained all of that back and more. Before this I have always wanted to lose weight for vanity reasons; an upcoming wedding/reunion/party, to look good in a pair of jeans/dress/tight sweater (they're ALL tight now-lol).

But this time is different. I am 5'2" and 200.5 lbs. I feel like crud, I breath hard when I go up and down the stairs, my face turns red when I tie my shoes, my cholesterol is sky high. This time I am doing it so that I can be healthier, live longer, be around when I have grandkids someday. Don't get me wrong, I want to look good too, but I really just want to feel physically better.

I have a 17 year old son that lives 1200 miles away from me. He will be graduating in June 2010. By that time I would like to have lost a significant amount of weight. I am very motivated to do this and what usually screws me up is my lack of willpower and my huge appetite. This time I will succeed (plus the fact that I want my ex-husband to eat his heart out when he sees how gorgeous I am!!).

buggurl 12-05-2009 04:16 PM

Hello everyone I am 22 and have struggled with me weight always. I am now at the highest I have ever been at 177. It is completley devestating. Last year I graduated from college and was down to 160. and was working my way down. I got a new job and moved home and now all I do is eat This is my first day on weight watchers again and I really want to do it and keep with it. When I have control it feels so much better. I can not believe I got this big. So heres hopen and starting...

mareneli 12-31-2009 03:33 PM

Hi all. My name is Maren and I'm in the Oklahoma City area. I am 37 and a teacher, as well as mom to two boys.

I've been on Weight Watchers several times, the most significant of which was after I had my second son. When he was about six months old I was around 255, and WW helped me get down to 196. Nursing and getting to eat those nursing points REALLY helped. Over the last 7 years I've yo-yoed from 206-226 repeatedly.

My husband and I finally decided to do WW online together last summer. Since July 26 I've lost 36 lbs. and he's lost 30. We both feel great and we are both thinner than when we met.

While I'm thrilled to be at 191, I'm curious to see what my body looks like in my "Normal" BMI of 155 or lower, so I'm going to keep going. I haven't been 155 since I was 14 years old. Right now I'm lower than I've been my entire adult life.

So in addition to doing WW, I am doing Zumba almost every day. The weight isn't coming off any more quickly, even though I've been doing it a while now. Any clues/hints about exercise points? I read something that said many people need to eat half of their exercise points, so I've been doing that. Does anyone else have any other info?

Thanks, and glad to be here!

Maren

Hi all. My name is Chris, I am 41 yrs old and live in southern California with my husband of 4 1/2 yrs, our cat and our pug. We have no children. I am a graduate student, getting a masters in Library & Information Science to be a librarian. I am not new to 3FC, I've been coming here for years. My husband and I are doing WW together via the monthly passes. We started in August. We love it, we don't feel deprived at all and it feels like something we can do forever.

I don't really have a good reason for gaining weight, it just slowly started to creep on and before I knew it, I was 100 lbs overweight. My challenges to weight loss are that I hate exercising and I am an emotional eater.

I look forward to interacting with you all. I hope I stick around this time.

Hi Everyone. My name is Emily and I live in the midwest. My weight has always yo-yo'ed, but the last couple years I have been out of control. I'm starting my third week of WW and so far I have lost 4.5 pounds. My starting weight was 195.5. My goal weight is 135. Thank you for all the support on this board.

fergi 01-11-2010 01:44 PM

Hello everyone. My name is Christel and I live in Texas. I started WW in Oct. 2008 and lost 22 pounds. Started Kickboxing 4 days a week. Stopped WW but continued the kickboxing. I was able to maintain the weight I lost but needed to lose more. In November my parents were in a car accident and my mom was transported to the hospital for chest pains. After many tests she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. If the accident never occurred then we would not have known she had cancer.

Now with a few more obstacles that have come up I have decided to stop sitting around feeling sorry for myself and get back to work. I am looking to lose 30 pounds and have set small goals for myself. Kickboxing classes start back up for me tonight. Plus we bought another puppy so walking our two bassets twice a day helps as well.

I have two beautiful daughters that I would like to pass down a healthy lifestyle too. I don't want them to struggle with weight or worry about what other people think of them. It's a harsh world especially when you are looking at it from a teenagers eyes. Yes I have two teenage girls......LOL.

tammygirl 01-11-2010 11:02 PM

Hi. I am Tammy. I am 30 and a newlywed. I have been with WW off and on since 2006. I reached my all time high of 307 pounds in 2006. I joined WW and lost over 100 pounds. From then, it has been a struggle. Over the past year, I have gained a lot of weight (me and my hubby love to eat and cook. He has packed on the pounds to). I am resolved to lose this extra weight and this time, keep it off :-)

basketballbelly 01-15-2010 12:24 PM

New to site

Hello all, I am new to the site, but not new to dieting. I weigh in at 282.4 and have been struggling with keeping myself at point seriously since October. I am determined that I can get this weight off.

I am 44 and am just now beginning to see the negative effects (physical) of all this weight, pinched nerve which renders my left leg numb, back pain, asthma, PCOS, knee problems, and sleep apnea.

I have been struggling with this woe since summer, but really decided to put my heart into it in October, I've not been very successful, actually gaining weight since summer, but I can't stop trying.

I look forward to getting to know everybody.

oodlesofnoodles 01-27-2010 11:27 PM

Hi guys! I'm Natalie. So I originally came on here because I started the South Beach diet. It ended up not working for me... I was too cranky all the time, it was hard eating enough to not feel bad with limited choices I guess. I lost weight with it, and managed to keep it off. I joined WW with my cousin (for my second time in my weight loss journey, started at 260 about 3 years ago) at 204, and got down to 198.

I started dating my boyfriend and... well I gained loads of weight. Like 30 pounds a lot. I weighed in at WW, after rejoining for my third and FINAL TIME, at 227. It sucked to see that number, but I'm here to finally get this weight off, and I'm motivated. My boyfriend is behind me, my family is behind me, this is it. I just started college I'm ready to finally like what I see in the mirror!

Sorry for the novel. I hope I get to know at least one of you guys. =]

MsDana 02-04-2010 08:26 AM

Hi everyone! I am new here, and started WW online yesterday. For the 2nd time! Last time I joined WW was about 5 years ago, I lost 22 lbs and kept it off for about 3 years. Now, the weight has slowly crept back on and I have 25-27 lbs to lose this time around. I am really motivated, but I know that I'll need some support along the way.

I'm 50+ and my background is healthcare (non-clinical). My passion is fitness DVDs and I've consistently exercised with them since the early '80s. In fact, I have now close to 400 workout DVDs, because I never part with any of them! :D

So, you ask why I've gained 25 lbs? I simply eat too much, even though my diet is pretty good - it's just portions are out of control. I also like, within reason, "adult beverages" and nothing piles the weight on like alcoholic beverages. So, I started with WWonline yesterday and am determined to drop the weight, just like I did 5 years ago.

Nice to be on this forum, and I'll do more reading here after work today.
Wishing everyone a great day.

Wizzie 02-10-2010 11:29 AM

Hi! I'm in WW for about the 4th time. I have successfully lost weight but I did keep it off. This time I'm doing it for good.

SamuelsMommy 02-11-2010 09:28 PM

Hi! My name is Stephanie. I joined WW online today. I was always skinny growing up. When I got married and went on birth control I gained some weight. Then my husband and I had infertility issues and I gained more weight during treatment. My weight is now 175 and is the highest it has ever been. We have a son that we adopted 4 years ago and I want to get healthy so I can be the mom that he deserves. My goal is to lose 45 pounds.

Believe4u 02-13-2010 01:45 PM

Back again!

Hello,

I'm Brittney. I'm 20yr old Junior at Texas A&M University. I did weight watchers about 3 years ago and lost 25 pounds. I maintained for over 1 year and then when I went to school I gradually gained my weight back. Ever since I saw the scale moving up I tried to lose the weight but it just kept catching up with me and here I am now 10 pounds heavier than I was the first time I did weight watchers. I am determined to get the Weight off. I can't afford to go to the meetings but I know the program pretty well. I really like the support I get from forums , I love talking to people that I can relate to . Everyone is always so supportive, i think it is very heart warming. I'm very happy to become a part of this forum and look forward to working my way towards my goal with you all !!!

TeeOne 02-14-2010 07:29 PM

Hello, I'm an older lady, married and live in MI. I'm on my 6th week of WW and I go to meetings on Tuesday nights.

I been on every diet out there and just wanted the structure of WW. I have about 50 more pounds to lose.

TeeOne 02-17-2010 11:25 PM

This isn't much of a meet and greet.....lol
I've noticed noone is here to greet or even acknowledge newcomers...

Lil Judy 02-21-2010 07:56 AM

Hi there,
Sorry for the lack of responses here. :welcome:
My best to all on your journey!
