So hungry!! What is wrong with me!?
Okay, I am down to 177.6. Today was my WW weigh-in and that is what it was. It brought me down to 24 pts. I was still used to 25, so by the time I actually went in to recalculate my pts it was too late. I had already eaten 25. I was still completely hungry! It was about 9 pm at this point in time. I decided what the heck, I'm losing so why not. I ate a WW Chocolate Cheesecake yogurt (4 oz) and 2 cups of strawberries, altogether 2.5 pts. So here I am already 3.5 pts over. STILL hungry. I had one piece of lite wheat bread and 1 tbsp of sugar free strawberry perserve and some hot tea (0 pts). STILLLL hungry. I am craving popcorn, and I don't even particularly like popcorn all that much. I would love to eat another yogurt. Or maybe some wasa bread and cheese... or maybe a smart ones! NOO...it is 11:38, I can't eat any more. I need to go to bed. WHY am I so hungry like this?!
As the points go down with weight, I'm afraid it is just going to get worse. I am so afraid I am not going to be able to maintain due to hunger. I thought it would go away by now. **BTW, I am following the Wendie plan and today was my +0 pts day. So much for that!** Thanks for listening to my ramblings! ;) |
I'm new here--I was hoping someone else could answer that for you! But I did have a couple of thoughts.
1) Is something stressing yu? It could even be that number on the scale! But, is there anything else? This does not sound like "true" hunger. 2) Sometimes hunger is really a trigger for rehydration. Have a pint of water--more tea. Liquids will fill you up. 3) You know, if you've been excercising, the scale just may not show that much of a difference. Also--did you eat anything salty? Is it before the TOM? Take deep breaths. Most importantly: do not beat yourself up. Since when did that ever help you? Forgive yourself. |
Get the e-book by Tom Venuto "Burn the Fat, Keep the Muscle". It's a pretty long book but the most comprehensive I've ever read about fat loss. No, I'm not on Tom's payroll it's just that that particular book laid things out for me in a way that totally made sense.
One of the things he talks about is that low-calorie diets will always ultimately fail because there comes a point when you can't keep dropping your calories to keep the weight loss going. Sounds like you might be reaching that point. The hunger could be a one day thing. Some days we just ARE hungrier than others, you know? There are probably days when you don't feel all that hungry the whole day. Your experience today might be temporary. If, however, it continues for a couple of days, then consider increasing your points/calories and also increasing your exercise along with it. Tom also advocates for a zig-zag method of weight loss which has you eating more calories (but must be healthy calories) every 4th day or so to keep your body/metabolism guessing rather than pushing it to starvation mode. Just consider today a 'zag' day. |
It could also be what you ate today and when you ate it. For me personally, I eat every couple of hours and I make sure at each "meal" the main part is protein. I eat very little simple carbs. I don't avoid carbs really, I just find that bread and "snacks" like WW chips, chocolate bars, etc, do nothing for me as far as filling me up goes.
So maybe you can help yourself by seeing what foods work best for you, if haven't already analysed it. And, yes, some days you can just be more hungry than others! |
I find if I'm not getting enough protein I get hungry, maybe you could sneak a little protein in somewhere? I find if I wake in the middle of the night, I'm often hungry but deal with it. Last week my leader said when you are hungry - you are burning calories/fat - whether it's true or not, it's keeping me motivated!

I second the "eating protein makes me less hungry" posts. There's one theory that we eat and eat and eat because the snack bars and chips (even low calorie ones) have very little nutritional value and our bodies are craving real food. I have sliced chicken in the fridge, or deli turkey or roast beef, and I'll grab a few slices of that and it usually works.
BUT being 2.5 points over isn't a problem -- that's what the flex points are for. You can eat 5 more points every day, or save them for the dinner out on Saturday night. It's okay. They're trying to teach us how to deal with food for life, in real life situations. |
TOTALLY up your protein...Seriously...I am a carb LOVER but MAN oh MAN when I eat carbs, I am totally unsatisfied after about 10 minutes.
I think you are now getting into the points range where you have to be extremely aware of how you are spending your points so that you get the best points bang for the food buck. A Cheesecake yogurt is highly processed and is, well, sweet. Strawberries are amazing but mostly carbs and water. Bread and jam, well, we all know are carbs, carbs, carbs! Which will leave you hungry in short order. Here are some options: 4 melba toasts and 1 oz low-fat cheese (the protein will make you feel full) 1/4 cup tuna with dijon mustard and 1 tbsp fat-free mayo-type dressing, spooned on salad greens or on a WW 1 point tortilla A large green salad with 1/2 cup cottage cheese A large green salad with mandarin orange slices and chopped almonds (1 tbsp) with fat-free raspberry vinagrette spray (you get the sweetness of the oranges and the fat/protein filling effect of the almonds and the physical bulk of the greens) 2 oz chicken breast, cooked, with salsa and salad greens on a WW tortilla Just some thoughts for snacks that would be more filling but the same points value as your cheesecake yogourt, bread, strawberries and jam... Hope this helps! Kira :) |
Don't you hate it when you weigh in after you've eaten all your points and then because of your new weight your points drop??? That happens to me all the time. From now on I think I'm not going to enter my weight until the following morning.

I am very hungry today too. I tried to eat less yesterday in prep for joining WW today.
Oh my word! I was up at 4am with my stomach growling like crazy. I hate being hungry! I didn't feel I went to bed hungry, but I guess I did. I have got to make sure and have some high volume, low point foods in the house. I made the 0 point soup yesterday. I have some popcorn and one of those little machines to pop it in the micro with no oil......need a few more things. Dawn |
filling foods! you HAVE to figure out what really fills you up and STUFF yourself with that. you can have 14 cups of your favorite fruit for 2 points... so do it (maybe not 14 hehe)! and then have that dessert afterwards... biiiiiiig difference.
