Do I need to eat all my points?

  • I feel like this is a silly question, but I can't seem to find an answer.

Do I need to eat all my daily points?

I know that I don't have to eat the 35 weekly points or any activity points, but what about my daily ones?

I'm 6 points shy of my daily points right now, and I am super full!
  • i think you will get many different responses on this.Personally , eating when not hungry has what has made me overweight.I do eat most of my points every day.I eat my weekly points when I am hungry.
  • Hi there,

Technically, yes- you are supposed to eat all your daily points. If you are having trouble getting to your daily target, you could try adding something that's higher in points to your diet, like cheese in your sandwich or salad, or some nuts.

That being said, I don't believe you should eat until you're sick. There has been the odd day that I've been 1-3 points under, and the odd day when I've been 1-3 points over. As long as you're usually hitting your daily target, it shouldn't make too much of a difference. I once ate a bunch of food at the end of the day because I hadn't met my target and made myself so sick that I threw up! Not fun!

    Good luck
  • Here in the Netherlands, my leader says, do not go under your points by more than 4. I think the pupose is so that you do not undereat, which could lead to not losing.

So if you are under by 6, is there anything you can have for 2 points that won't make you feel stuffed?
  • Thanks for the tips, everyone.

After we went to the gym, I ended up having the last piece of Easter chocolate, which put me within 2pts of my target. We'll see how today goes.
  • you also know that you "earn" points with exercise right?

so be careful that you don't eat too little AND earn a lot of exercise points, only to have it work against you.

good that you got 2 more points in!
  • I agree with what's been said - particularly adding in high-point food to your diet while you get accustomed to your daily target. Nut butters, full-fat dairy, nuts and seeds, healthy oils... All good for you and will help up your intake without adding bulk to your diet. It is important to get as close as possible to your daily target at the very least. Of course this shouldn't mean gorging if you are absolutely stuffed - people generally have a natural ebb and flow to their appetite, and I think listening to your body can be very valuable. But undereating will be counter-productive in the long run

    Good luck!
  • My leader also said eat all the points, every day. I think being under by 1 or 2 occasionally isn't a big deal, but aim to reach that number of points on most days.

Of course I'm only 2 weeks into it so don't go by me.
