ok im confused with points

  • I have been follwoing the point system since sept. Today I was thinking about something. Why is it that if you eat 3 of the same thing in a row its more points as opposed to spacing it out and it being less points. What is the correct way to figure out the points in something that is the same thing. Like say I ate 2 potatoes throughotu the day do I total those 2 potatoes together or seperately. Anyone understand what im saying? TY
  • The reason it's more points is that you can only count 4 grams of the fiber. So if you eat three of the same thing at once that is only low because of the fiber content, it will be higher points than if you eat them on separate occassions where you get to count the fiber each time. Basically, calculate the points for the entire amount of each item (such as three potatoes) and you are calculating them correctly (rather than calculating the points for one then multiplying it by three).

That said, it is not going to make that much of a difference overall, so if it's easier on you to count the points for each one, then do it! It'snot like you're going out on a binge or anything.
  • I try not to repeat foods in a day for this very reason. I see it as a huge opportunity to be creative with my eating and try something new.

That being said, I brought this up with a leader who told me she calculates them individually if eaten at different times of day. I think I can see why she does it that way and it worked for her. After all, she's a leader. Haha.
  • If you eat all at the same meal (or I think most members say 2 hours --- W/W has no official time) you total cal/fat/fiber and figure the points. If you have one at breakfast, one at lunch and one at dinner you figure each individually.

That is the official way W/W indicates.
  • thanks guys appreciate it
