Calculating Points in Recipe
Today I made a pot of spaghetti sauce. The end result after simmering down all day was 14 cups.
My ingredients - lean ground pork, grated carrots, mushrooms, hot and sweet peppers, onions, tomatoes, sugar (2T), spices. Looking at the book, the points I can come up with are 12 for the pork, 2 each for the sugar, carrots and onions for a total of 18 points. Divide that up by 14 cups and it's just over 1 point per cup. Have I really done that right? Thanks! Donna |
Here are the rules for finding points for a recipe.
Add together the calories, fat and fiber for every ingredient. So now you have the nutritional value of the entire recipe. Then divide these by the number of servings. So now you have the nutritional value of one serving. Then find the points value for the one serving. |
It sounds right, the sauce sounds yummy!!!

Thanks! It just didn't seem like enough, based on the points in purchased spaghetti sauce. I'm very happy I like to cook :) And ya, the sauce is very yummy!
