Thin4Life - Week of 17 September
Hi Ladies! I'm finally starting to feel better. Weighed myself this morning, and I was at 164.2. So a 2.8 pound gain (from my ticker, even though it was two weeks ago). Some of it is water weight, so that should come off quickly (I hope!) I obviously will not meet that goal of 156 I set for myself by the end of September. I would like to be at 161 by the end of the month though, and then go from there :) Of course, next week I am on vacation, but I actually seem to do BETTER when I travel. I've gotten it down to a science. I'm SO afraid of gaining when I travel that I become very strict and even exercise more.
I gave myself a "free" weekend this past weekend. I was just happy to be keeping food down! |
Had a good weekend. Golfed with DH on Friday. Helped clean up our beach with local groups on Saturday. Then DH and I went to Sebastian Inlet, a great park here on the ocean. It was great--don't know why we haven't been there more often. Had a rehearsal yesterday. Watched football. My Redskins are on tonight, so will probably catch some of that game.
Lori, so glad you're feeling better. Was it some sort of flu? I like your ideas about travel. I'm the same way; I always walk more on vacation, so that keeps the weight off. |
Good afternoon! It was a chilly start to the day with temps at 46 this morning! It's a cool 68 but the temps are supposed to warm up as the week progresses into the low 80's again. Typical Fall weather here.
Lori: I'm glad you're feeling better. I think I do better when I'm away too--I don't have the temptations of what's in the cupboard and I tend to walk more and eat healthy. I'm looking forward to my vacation in October. Lisa: It was cold here on Saturday with a lot of wind. Went to the rugby game and did a little bit of running around Saturday. Sunday DH and I took a ride out to the county and got fresh apples--I love this time of year! I got a nice walk in over the lunch hour today--I really needed it because I've been crabby the last couple of days. I have all the symptoms of TOM but so far nothing! It's pretty frustrating but there's not much I can do. I didn't have a good weekend in terms of eating--Saturday night I pretty much had what I wanted and didn't worry about it. I need to refocus and look at what I want to accomplish. I'd be happy with some weight loss but it seems that even when I work really hard to stay within my Target and have been getting activity in. Eventually it'll all come together. |
So I had my day planned out in order to eat within my points, but I just sat here and ate a nutrition bar (4 points) and a ton of melba crackers (3-4 points). :( Well here's to staying on track for the rest of the night. I have soup and cucumbers for dinner - only 3 points total. No way I can avoid going over my target though - I think I'm already over it.
Lisa - Your comedy group looks fun! Do you get paid for that, or is it just something you do for fun? Melissa - I had to turn on the heat this morning!!!! It was so cold... I thought it was during the night and my throat was dry. Now it is still dry. Hope that I'm not getting sick with something else now. :( Thank goodness for sugar free cough drops! |
Melissa, Your weather sounds so refreshing! How great and your trip to get apples is so autumn-like. Cool! I hear you on the TOM symptoms, but then nothing. Welcome to my world (last year). It was so confusing, but now I'm called "post-menopausal." For me it's just great--no more worries about TOM. Hurray! Your weekend of eating sounds like mine--I had chocolate cake! At another dinner, I made a healthy blueberry and yogurt dessert, but I had to have that chocolate cake! Went for a long walk on Sunday, so maybe that helped?
Lori, You had to turn the heat on? Well, here we have our heat right outside--it's 86 today. I have a golf lesson after work and I'm looking forward to that. Yes, I get paid (not a lot), but I get paid for each performance. I've done community theater for about 15 years (volunteer), so it's nice to get paid this time. |
Lori We had to turn our heat on as well to take the chill out of the house on Sunday/Monday morning. It was just too cold! This morning it's a cool 52. Temps are supposed to be up in the 70's the rest of the week. I can totally empathize with you on having a day all planned out and then eating things that weren't "part of the plan"! It's so frustrating!
Lisa: I think the worst part with TOM is that I get the symptoms and then nothing happens! I'm more worried that I'll have either one continuous TOM in October or two like I've had in the past. It'll be my luck it'll happen when I'm on vacation :( How about those Redskins!? Did you get to watch the game last night? It's beautiful here this morning--I'm walking at noon with my WW/exercise buddy at noon so that's something I'm looking forward to! Pam: How's everything going with you? Susan: Are you getting ready for any running events? |
Melissa, I just can't believe that you've had your heat on in your house. That must be a nice change. Yes, how about those Redskins. After the terrible season last year, that's great. I'm glad you will be walking today.
Hello to Lori, Pam, and Susan (and where is lala?) |
Hi ladies,
The heat is on at my house too it got down into the 40's on Sunday night. This week is suppose to be terrific weatherwise with temps in the 70-80's. I've been going to the gym regularly in fact I'm headed there after this post. I'm trying to walk/jog for 2 miles on the boring treadmill and then do some weight training. I can see/feel a small difference already. Lisa yeah Redskins. My Pats won on Sunday night and Lauren and her boyfriend were at the game. I thought she would be freezing but she said it was OK. Have you been taking golf lessons regularly or did you just start? I read your post quickly the first time and thought you were getting paid to give golf lessons! Melissa Your weather sounds a lot like ours. I'm having some problems staying within my points lately too. The nighttime eating is my problem. I agree with your comments that eventually it will all come together. Lori I'm another one that does better while on vacation. Do you live near Providence RI? My daughter and I love to go to the mall there...great shopping! Well ladies time to go to the gym. Have a great day! |
Pam, Aaah, fall must be on the way. So glad you're using the gym AND that you're seeing results. I walk almost every day, do weight training and Pilates.
I had to take golf lessons again because I got into a slump. I told DH that I may give up the game and he bought me "desperation" lessons. My teacher said she doesn't like to hear about the person quitting because it puts her under some pressure. I'm doing better; I think too much--that's my problem. |
Hi ladies! I gave in at lunch and got the Potato and Bacon soup from the cafeteria :o But oh was it yummy :) And I have a plan for dinner to that I won't go way over my points!
Pam - I'm about 15 minutes from the Providence Place Mall. It is a nice mall isn't it? Its actually a good one to go to if you just want to walk around and not spend any money. DH and I go on rainy days sometimes just to get exercise! Lisa - Is Redskins football? I'm not a football fan. Just hockey for me :) I don't even care to watch baseball. I suppose I'm not an "all-American" I prefer playing sports to watching them, but football is one that I just don't get. I always comment on how there are SO many guys just running into each other, why not shorten the field and have less guys? :) I played hockey growing up and its fast enough that I can watch and stay glued to the TV, but not a big point-scoring game (like basketball for instance) so every goal really does count it seems. Hi Melissa! It's supposed to warm up around here. We're supposed to get into the 80's this weekend. Then its back to cold. But I don't mind, I love fall! |
Lori, I love potato soup; great comfort food. Didn't even know about the Mall and I was in Providence a couple years ago. Yes, Redskins are football. I enjoy it. It's fun to watch. I never cared for hockey. I only watch baseball or basketball if it's live. Oh, I like to watch golf because I play golf (if you could call it that).
Last night I was driving home and thought I have leftover london broil, so I'll make a big salad for me and DH and cut up the london broil--doesn't that sound great?? Well...DH ate the leftovers at lunch yesterday. I came home and opened up the fridge--nothing--so DH said let's go out. OK. I had Mahi Mahi for dinner--it was good. |
Lisa that happened to me last night! Went to go get the last of the leftover homemade pizza, and DH had already eaten it the night before. Oh well :(
Vacation in T minus 4.5 days! :D |
Husbands! Vacation sounds good. We're going on a long weekend in mid-November that I'm looking forward to, but I've already had my big vacation(s) this year. I can't believe how close we are to Christmas.
|
Good afternoon ladies! We've been having some gorgeous weather here. I had to turn our A/C back on yesterday because it's so warm! Talk about one extreme to the other! Tomorrow we're supposed to be in the mid 80's!
Lisa/Lori: I have the same problem with leftovers--I'll have my dinner all figured out based on something that was in the fridge only to come home and discover it's gone! Pam: Great job on getting into a pattern with exercise. I still struggle with night time eating and some days are worse than others. Lisa: I enjoy most sports but never really got into hockey other than the playoffs. I'm not a big fan of all the fighting that goes on in the rink. My baseball team is doing well (Cleveland Indians) but they tend to deflate the further along they go. I'm hopeful that they'll do well this year. We're in a unique area because we're 2 hours from Cleveland/Buffalo/Pittsburgh so we have a lot of different fans here. Lori: Only 20 days until my vacation--I'm looking forward to the time off. I meant to post yesterday but I got sidetracked--surprisingly I was down 1# at WI. I can't figure it out--I thought for sure I'd be up because I felt so bloated. I'm definitely maintaining this higher weight *sigh* |
Good afternoon! I had an arthrogram and MRI today. And the MRI machine broke down before I went in. So I stayed and fell asleep on the table thing, actually, and finally an hour later it was back up. So that took much longer than I expected! I get the results tomorrow. I'm nervous. I've been having hip problems and they found a cyst, but they don't think that is what is causing the pain. So its wait and see now. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow too. Fun fun :)
Melissa I haven't weighed in for a couple of weeks. I know I am up, but I've also been sick. I want to give myself a week to recover first :) |
