I guess I'm not starting this challenge very well. Gained .6 this week. Here are my numbers:

Thur 23.5
Fri 24
Sat 24
Sun 25.5
Mon 22
Tue 25.5
Wed 24

Range: 20-25

I confess, I've gotten lazy on weighing and measuring and have guessed on some of my points, so maybe some of the totals were even higher. If not, I don't know why I gained. I know I could blame muscle weight (I do exercise a lot) or water retention, but those would just be excuses. Next week I plan to weigh and measure more and drink more water.

patch30 12-13-2001 11:11 AM

Myra - hang in there. Your numbers really do look good. I probably have not been "that accurate" either in the portion size, etc.

I feel like I really blew it last night. :( The potato pancakes were calling - and yes I even put a few to bake (didn't taste half bad) but I HAD to taste the fried ones (or was it two's??) and then after dinner - which everyone else was having apple pie and icecream, I "nobley" had the skinny cow.
But I was so obsessed with seeing all this fattening food, I had to also have a 2 pt choc pudding, but that wasn't enough so I inhaled a bag (6 pcs) of chocolate "gelt" / coins. I could not - and obviously did not want to - stop myself. Yikes.

Granma - your numbers are looking good! Way to go.

Melissa - I went for a walk this morning to burn off some of the points from last night and thought of you.

ciao.

My 1st 12 Week Challenge Post

Hi! Thanks, Patch, for the PM and invite to this Challenge. What a great idea!! :D I'm excited, can't ya tell! I'm at work so I have to be brief. I have been browsing throught these boards bright and early, then at night, so I'm glad to be a part of it, now. I'm a WW Lifer at goal, since 10/24/01. And now, I am a new leader. Hopefully no one will feel weird about that. I find reading these to be inspiring, more members should do the same! I am not perfect, I have my "challenges," too! My weight loss journey was fairly quick (for me), so my mind is still catching up to my body! I joined WW on 2/13/01 and I've been able to keep off 52 lbs.
I am truly looking forward to meeting everyone! Have a great one! :D
Adelweiss (Chris)

Hi all--went to my meeting this morning. Lost 1.4 pounds--not a giant leap but I'm happy--that makes 7.8 for 2 weeks. Here are my numbers for today
Thurs--21 so far --my new range is 22-27--so I will have a snack later. Still guzzling the water and walking in the a.m. Talk tomorrow.

In a Challenge, as I type...

Hi, I thought I'd share a little bit as I take a break from my list of chores I need to get through tonite. :dizzy:
Grandma3 - You should be very proud of your loss, that's awesome! :) That's a healthy weightloss. Especially this time of year!
I am a new WW leader, having not been on the program this time last year. I know the holidays are tough, but, at least I am now actually aware of what is going into my mouth, unlike before! I have to mention that I am engaged (never been married, 36, no kids) to a wonderful man who's divorced with 2 kids. I finally sat down tonite and figured out exactly why I keep wanting (and proceeding) to way overeat this week... yes, even leaders do that, although they aren't probably supposed to say that! The kids are coming home from college tonite, which always causes a lot of stress in our home. I won't go at any length, but, I am so glad I used a WW tool for living and now I can put it to good use! I am dealing with this stress :( by focusing my energy on cleaning and getting ready for the holiday, instead of plopping my butt on the couch (I love TV) and eating, and eating... yahoo! I feel much better. I really think this is gonna be a "lifestyle change" and I am excited to share this with all of you! Thanks!

:D Adelweiss/Chris

Jo, congrats on the loss. That is so great.

Dena 12-13-2001 07:33 PM

Thanks guys (Patch, Lalala, Seasaw and everyone) for the warm welcome. Sorry I haven't posted the last couple of days, but I've been trying to get back on track and have had trouble doing so... until Today. I'm baaaaack. I've continued to go to the gym in spite of my food problems, getting on the treadmill and exercise bike. And in addition, I've started working out on the weight machines again. This is major, since I couldn't move my arm. Well, all of it's major, since I couldn't walk either. (Boy, do I sound pathetic.)LOL Anyway, I'm doing so much better and am so proud of myself. I feel better mentally, too. (That always helps!)LOL

I can't wait to get to my lowest weight and feel comfortable in my clothes again!!

Have a great day, everybody!
(Hugs),
Dena

:) It's Friday...

Good morning! I just have to share that, in addition to completing ALL of my tasks last night, plus, the stress of my stepkids-to-be coming home from college for break, I did awesome and stayed right at my maintenance points... I even wrote down all of my BLT's, too... :dizzy: Phew!

Dena - Sounds like you're doing awesome! Your exercising is inspiring. I was not on the WW program last year at this time, so it's been hard to maintain my weight without exercising. I am a fair weather exerciser, and, living in Maine, I really need to find another activity besides walking and swimming. I don't like the snow or cold (I know, why do I live up here :?: ). Anyway, keep it up!

Have a great one, everybody!
Adelweiss/Chris :)

patch30 12-14-2001 12:18 PM

Hey all. Well - the food gods were smiling on me last night at the networking event. I had (honest) 2 club sodas, figuring I'd save my points for dinner... but dinner was terrible and so I only had a couple of bites, plus 3 small forkfuls of cheese cake.

Hey Myra don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure you'll post a loss next week. And all that exercise must be giving you buns, and abs of steel!

Katie - making the potato latkes made me think of you and cookie dough - how's it going?

Dena - remember we all stumble, I certainly did Wed. night. So good for you coming back. But don't avoid us when you're struggling. For me, that's the time I find I really need you guys and it gets me focused. If nothing else venting uses up calories! It IS an activity no? And congrats with getting back to exercising!

Grandma4 wonderful news on the loss. How much are you planning on losing? We love hearing about the weight loss, the 10%'s , and of course the journey. Congrats on your mall adventure.

Adelweiss - I truly can relate. I got married 3 years ago (my first - I'm 45 - and his second). It's the best, but truly challenging with his Ex (not a happy camper) and his son (aged 10 1/2). The stress of weaving all of the new personalities and issues is real, - not to mention what's going on in my professional and internal life - and at times it really does get the best of me. But I too, decided that disregarding all the hard work to get and maintain goal - just to eat comfort food - is NOT an option. At least most times...

Hey Melissa - just took a look at your numbers. They really are great.

Yo Lala and Seasaw didn't want to forget ya.

Grandma3 12-14-2001 06:08 PM

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. For my numbers Patch--I need to lose 20 pounds for my 10%--so far I've lost 7.8 of it-- so around 12 pounds to go. Haven't decided how much I want to lose yet. I was at 170 lbs five yrs ago and very comfortable there but the charts say my maximum weight should be 159--guess I'll decide when I reach my first 10%. One pound at a time until then!

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT--I"M GLAD I TOOK PATCHS' ADVICE AND JOINED YOU ALL ON THIS 10 WEEK CHALLENGE. WEEK ONE IS ALMOST OVER:angel: I've been well within my points everyday and exercising even more than before--trying for an extra 15 minutes a day--that was my challenge to myself for this week and I've succeeded so far. Next week my personnel challenge will be to stay away from all the Christmas goodies pouring into the office. I keep reminding myself that every BLT needs to be counted and journaled--worked this week!

Hi Everyone!

Patch and Chris, thanks so much for your encouraging words. I appreciate them so much.

I'm happy to report that I spent a whole hour at the gym today! Like I said this is major for me after the incident.LOL But I'm feeling pretty great these days... back to my old self. (It only took 2 1/2 months!)LOL But the good part about going to the gym and really working out is that I actually feel slimmer. I don't dare go on the scale at home, and I might even gain from muscle, but I just want to keep at it.

Patch, I can relate to your professional and internal struggles. That's what I'm going through right now, too.

Chris, great idea about cleaning when stressed. I've got to do that, too. That should keep me busy for a while.LOL

Grandma, you're doing absolutely great! Keep up the fantastic work.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
(Hugs),
Dena

Hello everyone (& welcome, Dena, Grandma3 & adelweiss) -

Well, I weighed in this am & was up - tipped the scales at 148.0 - 3 lbs above my comfort zone. Overdid it on the cookie dough over the past week, plus TOM started today, so that didn't help. Will try to rein it in & get back on track. Maintenance can be so tricky - such a balancing act!

adelweiss & Patch - I have stepkids too & DH's ex is a piece of work, so I know what stress it causes. Adelweiss, I am a new WW leader, too. I was a receptionist for a year & just started doing meetings as a leader right after Labor Day. I really enjoy it.

Grandma3 - I see you're from Minnesota; I grew up in the St. Paul area, but have lived near Madison for the last 8 1/2 years. Get back quite often to visit the family, though. I still miss it.

Dena - congrats on getting back to the gym & getting those pesky pounds off. It's a never-ending battle, isn't it? :dizzy:

Myra - don't worry about the small gain - you are doing so well!

Melissa - you always seem to do so well- you had a loss from last week (I thought that's what you mentioned).

Grandma3 12-15-2001 07:45 PM

O.K. challengers here are my numbers for today. 25 eaten 2 banked. Also went for a short walk this morning--I don't usually walk at all on the weekends so that was an added bonus.

Katie--Madison is a beautiful area also. My walking partner is there this weekend visiting friends. Small world.

Keep up the good work Dena, Chris,Patch, Myra & Melissa--if I forgot anyone--please accept my apoligies.

Tomorrow is a NEW DAY and I'm looing forward to it:angel:
