Question Need help with a game plan.

Hey everyone,

I'm on my 2nd week of WW and I need help with a "back to law school game plan."

First of all, I'm 23 and I have one kid and a hubby at home. I work 40/week in the administration at my school and then 3 nights a week I am in class at the law school.

When I start back to school next week, I need a game plan. Maybe some of you busy WW veterans can share with me what you all do so that you can stay on the program when there is so much going on around you, like school, work, kids, etc.

Since I've been off of school for the past two weeks, I have made some changes that I want to continue. Like, I take a bath at night so that I can have more AM time to cook a quick breakfast and get my daughter to daycare and be at work ontime. Also, we have a fridge at work. So, I bring a case of diet cokes and frozen smart one's dinners. Also, we have a great water dispenser-thingy, so getting my 64oz is easy. But, basically, I am afraid that this is going to all fall apart next week in the back to class rush. HELP!

One of my "Busy mom" tricks is to carry an apple and a handful of almonds in a ziplock bag in my purse.

This way, whenever the cravings hit, or the "I'm STARVING!" moment comes, I have something healthy that fills me up for 2 pts. in my possession. No vending machines, and no temptation to "cheat" with crappy food.

I would also see about packing easy lunches too, and wouldn't eat the frozen dinners daily. Low point, nutritious things taste better, and aren't that hard to throw together. (And they are better for you too!)

Not a mom, but busy busy busy over here!

Heidi I do that too! I always keep some snacks on hand. A Fiber One Bar, almonds, granola bar.... something to shove in your glove box and grab if you need a quick fix.

Try making your lunch the night before. That way, you don't have to worry about rushing around in the morning.

Keep some fruit on your desk at work. If you get hungry, you are almost guaranteed to grab healthy fruit for snacking instead of getting up and searching for the vending machine.

I always keep soup and microwave popcorn at work as well, just in case I forget my lunch or need an extra snack.

same here- not a mom but busy busy busy!

every few nights, do a few dys worth of "prep"- chop veggies and put in containers, make a fruit salad and put in a container for work. it's also a good time to make some things that you can eat at work for lunch instead of smart ones- last night i made a whole wheat sesame noodle dish, and then also cooked up two chicken breasts instead of one- delicious lunch for the next two days, and no box meal! this way all the chopping and prep stuff is done and when time is short and you are cooking at home you are much more likely to just add already chopped veggies to what you're cooking than rinse them, chop them, etc.

on class nights, have a "smart food" snack just before. something that is a bit of good sugar, and then a bit of protein. like a piece of cheese and grapes. PB and a banana. the almonds and apple someone else said. it will get you through class and help you stay awake.

have a relaxation system in place so that when you get stressed you don't eat your stress. take up yoga if you don't already do it, buy some bubble bath, something to keep you in check when school heats up.

good luck!

I put a bottle of water in the freezer at night - pull it in the morning - put it in my bag or car so I have it for my drive home. I also have those slim packets of Crystal Lite (Or WallyWorld brand) in my tote so I can tasty up my water if needed for a sweet taste. And a couple packets of Swiss Miss Sugar Free Cocoa for my chocolate fix. Keep those in my desk and/or my tote.

I go along with the apple and or baby carrots for the car and the 2 pt granola bars for the glove box. It keeps me honest and from driving thru a drive thru or a quick convenience store raid when I'm starving. I try to have individual containers of the Week 1 WW Veggie Soup in stock in my freezer. It's a freebie and it has saved my life when I hit home ravenous and no time to cook. It will tide me over until I can get past the starved stage and a rational state of mind.

Good luck! I know the busy life but if you have forethought and planning, you can win and be a "loser".
