Congrats on the loss Pam.
Just heading out the door on a short business trip. Don't know if I'll get a chance to post again this week so if I don't, I'll catch up with you all next week. Susan |
|
Pam, yes, congrats on the loss. Now you can fix your weight meter.
Susan, Have a good trip. It's chilly here today--low 60's, but tomorrow it's supposed to be almost 80. Crazy weather in these parts. |
Congrats Pam! Wow.
Have fun Susan! Hope you have some fun as well as work. Lisa - that is cold. If you need any London tips, email me. I go about three to four times a year. Hi Melissa! Nothing much going on here. Ernest is till a bit loopy. Hungry too. DP slept on the floor with him last night. It is too cold for him to be at work, so he's staying home with her today and that is a bone of contention (hah). She teleworks one day a week and he is sort of active. So, someone has to pay some attention to him, making it hard to concentrate. I'll pick him up at lunch and bring him in as long as it stays sunny. He's averaging about 3 to 4 miles a day of walks which is great for us too. Okay, must get to work and journal. BBL. lala |
Susan: It does seem a little odd that you'd be up that much--maybe it's a combination of things. I do agree it's harder to come off the older you get. Have a safe trip!
Pam: Congrats on your loss!! Lala: Did the vet say how long it will take for the anesthesia to wear off? Poor Ernest! It's great that he walks with you and it also gives you some extra activity as well. I find that keeping my journal really helps me stay on track--even if it's not a "good" day I still write everything down (sometimes no points) but at least I have a written log that I can see. I was up 1.6# today--no real surprise since TOM is due next Wednesday (or sooner) and I was in Chicago over the weekend and indulged in deep dish pizza. We went to Cafe Selmarie and I splurged and got a piece of a dark chocolate orange, I think flourless, cake. It was so dense that I could only eat about a third but boy was it good. We've been getting snow every day--yesterday was quite an experience, the storm hit around 4 p.m. just in time for us to leave work and it made the commute a little hairy. You couldn't even see the tire tracks in the road and the street lights were barely visible. I hate driving in those kind of conditions. Today we've had a bit of a reprieve and even a couple peeks of sunshine but more snow is in the forecast. Hi to KarynLee, Lisa and anyone else I missed! |
lala, I'm going to London with a tour group, but I would love to hear from you the "must-see" places. Everyone tells me the British Museum and the Tower of London--what other places? This will be a drama based trip, so I will be attending a lot of plays while I'm there. How is the West End? What about restaurants? Are there any that you would highly recommend? How is the shopping there? I hope Ernest is well soon.
Melissa and Susan, sorry about the gain. Yes, it gets harder and harder to lose. |
Lisa - how many days and where are you staying?
London is expensive these days. I can send you a few maps and an older version of timeout eating and drinking that has some great maps as well. The best part is that is great for walking. You'll do a lot of that. back to work. I'm huungry. Good thing I have some WW bars for such an emergency. lala |
I will be there about 6 days and I don't know where I'm staying because the tour group hasn't given us that info as yet. Yes, I know it's expensive. The dollar is not doing well throughout Europe, too. I like walking, so that's no issue. Is it safe (as far as big cities could be safe?)
|
Lisa: I'm jealous...I really enjoyed London when I was there and Lala gave me some great tips and advice. I didn't have a problem with "safety". It's the same anywhere, just be aware of what's going on around you, etc. You will do a lot of walking, that's what everyone does there. I love Pret a Manger. We did a lot of the touristy type things--Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, a river tour of the Thames (great way to see and hear about London). My mom and I went to Harrod's--that was a sight to see. The food halls are unbelievable.
Ladies, I did not have a good day of eating yesterday--I went from one thing to another and went to bed disgusted last night. I need to regroup. WW came out with a new cookbook called Pure Comfort and there are a lot of great recipes in it and they're fairly simple. I'm going to test some of them out and I'll let you know about them. The sun is out her and the temps are supposed to be around 30...a heat wave!! So how's everyone else doing??? |
Good morning! :coffee:
Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm currently experiencing a bit of in-law drama (too ridiculous to go into) and I'm fighting urges to eat everything in sight. I'm not used to drama so I'm emotionally drained. PMS'ing, as well, which certainly doesn't help the situation. :( I'm such a comfort eater so I'm obsessed with food right now. Thank goodness for weigh in on Saturday - it really is my #1 motivator to stay on plan. Hope you're all having a good, OP, low stress week. I plan to be back with some positive energy soon! :D |
Hi everyone,
Karynlee -Sorry to hear about the inlaw drama or psychic trauma as I like to call it. Melissa - I hear you. I was headed that way on my way home. DP was not happy to be at home all day with Ernest and I was late. Instead of reaching for the refrigerator. We went and ran errands. We were all calmer (poorer) but calmer and I managed to stay within my points for the rest of the night. I keep on remembering what the vet told me about our old cat, Roya, when he wanted her to lose weight. He suggested that we shouldn't get caught up in the heat of the moment, but try and delay eating. In the case of the cat, it was playing with her for a while instead of feeding her when we got home. The same thing could be said for us. Do tell us what is in the cookbook. Some of them inspire me, some of the are just meh... Lisa - London is very safe. The places that aren't safe are places that you won't be hanging out in. I pretty much avoid those places as well. Tell me where you are staying and I'll give you some hints and suggestions. Hi to Pam! How is your shoulder? I weighed in this AM as I'll be gone on this weekend. Down another 1.2. Yipee. Off to do work. lala |
Melissa, Thanks for the info about London. Harrod's is on my list. I'm really looking forward to the trip, although I'm already stressing about packing (dumb, I know). I'm glad you have a heat wave going. We had 58 yesterday and 80 today. Let us know about the Pure Comfort cookbook.
lala, I must say, dahling, it is so good to have you back!! Congrats on the loss. When I find out the hotels, I'll let you know. Karynlee, I can definitely relate to MIL issues. Mine is a pip! I think she finally gave up on the idea that I would just "go away." (DH and I have been married over 30 years). What is it with yesterday? After work, I went to a game night in my little town. It was set up to get residents to meet each other. It was fun, but they had snacks and I ATE EVERYTHING!! I was so disgusted with myself. Well, tomorrow I have a luncheon show to do with my music group. Then it's off to Orlando for a seminar (be back on Saturday). On Sunday, it is SUPER BOWL!!! We're going to a party. Probably won't be back here till Monday. Have a good one. |
Hi Ladies,
Thanks everyone for the congrats on the loss. Even though it's only a pound it's still something and I'm happy for that. I totally agree with Lisa, it sure gets harder to lose. Lala My shoulder is better. I went to PT for about 8 weeks and it helped quite a bit. My range of motion is much better and the pain is manageable, mostly at night. I'm sure surgery will be a necessity at some point but I'm trying to hold off. Hope Ernesto is doing better today, that must have been difficult. Lisa Enjoy Orlando and your super bowl party. I'm hoping the Bears win, who are you rooting for? Melissa a friend of mine has the Pure Comfort cookbook and really likes it. Let me know what you think. KarynLee sorry about the in-law drama. That must be difficult. Well ladies I'm traveling tomorrow so probably won't get a chance to post. Hope you all have a great weekend. |
Here's hoping Lisa is safe and hasn't made it to Orlando yet. Here's also hoping that Lisa's friends are okay after the weather that ripped through the area.
Nice day here. I went to dinner last night with a friend at our new local hangout. I was pretty good. Ate quite abstemiously before and shared a sauteed chard with currants and pine nuts, some herbed gnocchi with smoked trout and a few bites of chocolate flourless cake. Even managed to walk there and back. Today I'm going to take it easy on the food. This is somethign I'm trying to learn. How is everyone else? lala |
