Why is it so hard to...

  • Why is it so hard to switch from low-carb to low-calorie? I just made the switch a week ago, and gained about 4 pounds in one week. Am now following the weight watchers plan, and that's what happened. i tried to do the same thing some time ago, and the same thing happened.

And just getting over the shock of gaining 4 pounds in a week, my clothes are now fitting tighter, and that is a nerve-wracking experience for me.

I don't want to stay on Atkins anymore and need something that works. Atkins worked somewhat, but was too restrictive for someone like me, who plans on having a family soon and want to be able to cook meals that everyone can eat.

Somebody help! and please encourage me in this if you have tried switching from low-carb to weight watchers, and had these problems.

  • YEP it happened to me GGal when i switched i gained 7 lbs before loosing BUT dont worry your body is just getting used to carbs and on WW i found that if i still watch my carbs (just lower) it helps on the point intake also i mean lower point values for lower carbs
just hang in there you'll do great

  • Thanks Michelle
But how long did it take you to START losing, after the gain? I am so worried. I can't afford the extra pounds, seriously. Am 170 normally, on my 5'3 frame, so you know what i mean. I don't look it, but that's alot of weight.

    Any info welcome.
  • Your body needs to adjust. Diet plan jumping is hard. That's a fact.

Just give it a week or two to adjust to eating like a real human being and it will..

The other thing I suggest is look at what you are eating. If you are eating a lot of simple carbs you may be retaining water...if you are eating a lot of processed foods you my be retaining water.

Try to eat more whole foods such as those designated as Core foods for the Core arm of W/W.
