Thin4Life - Week of Jan 8/07
Gosh, I still have trouble writing/typing 07 instead of 06. I had a good weekend as far as things I wanted to do, but eating wise  I don't know why I'm on this "eating everything in sight" cycle. I need to snap out of it:kickbutt:
It has been so hot here. On Saturday, DH and I went for a walk on the beach. I was wearing a jogbra and shorts and just roasted! Guess what? Tonight it's supposed to be in the 40's. Very strange weather we are having. Played 9 holes of golf with DH on Friday--first time since I hurt my back. I did pretty well (actually beat DH by 2 strokes).:carrot: I did not overexert myself. On Saturday night I went to a disco party. It was a birthday party and we were asked to dress disco. DH (after much prodding) wore some tight slacks and a print shirt with the front unbuttoned. I found a pretty dress and wore high heels. We danced and danced. Unfortunately, many of the other attendees didn't know what disco was. They were dressed like the 60's and early 70's with headbands, long hair and peace symbols. Oh well... It was still fun. I think the dancing helped my back because it felt looser yesterday. Tonight's the big BCS championship football game. I'm an Ohio State Buckeyes fan and it's been fun teasing the Gator fans at work. Believe me being in Florida, I'm surrounded:rolleyes: So, how was everyone else's weekend? |
Lisa: I did not have a good eating weekend either--Saturday and Sunday I was flip-flopping from salt-sweet-salt, etc. Wasn't pretty! The weather here has been unseasonably warm--although today we're experiencing more "normal" temps/weather for January. It was raining when I left for work and the temp was around 45; it's now 34 and we've been getting blowing snow! Talk about a complete turnaround! Disco was big when I was a sophomore/junior in high school; it's amazing how quickly it came and went.
I mainly worked on laundry over the weekend and did a couple other little things. Nothing major. I worked at WW both Friday and Sunday and we've had a lot of new members coming in. Sunday we had 21 new members sign up so it was a long morning! I'll be curious to see how the rest of the week unfolds in terms of enrollments. Hope everyone else had a good weekend. |
Hi Melissa and Lisa. I started to post yesterday but got side-tracked and only realized when I got home that I forgot to pop in and say hello.
My "date" on Saturday morning was okay but no chemistry. I think he could be a friend, though, so all was not lost. I have another one tomorrow, so stay tuned. Weight up this morning but I know why. Have been finishing up all the leftover Christmas chocolate. It is just evil, the way that this stuff calls to me when it's in my house. I need to give it away to some deserving adult (contains liquere). It's a busy work week for me. We have two big meetings coming up and I'm trying to juggle them with the regular stuff. Should keep me out of trouble.. Susan |
Susan: I'm having trouble too with things around the house--it's time to move them out! I know that if it's not around I don't have things that will cause me grief in terms of eating. I think I'm coming down with something (I'm hoping it's not a cold like everyone else is running around with!) and my head feels a little stuffed. It could be my allergies/sinuses acting up. I'm getting a bit of back drip *sigh* I'm glad the *date* went well--I'd be a little apprehensive to try meeting people via the internet.
The cold weather has returned to our area albeit for a short while--tomorrow it's supposed to start warming up again. I heard the forecaster on the news last night say that we might be in for a big storm toward the end of the month--I hope it's not the weekend I'm supposed to go to Chicago--I really don't want to get stuck somewhere. Hi to Pam, Julie, Liz, Lala, Austingal!! Hope you are doing well!! |
Well, I don't know what happened, but I wrote a long post earlier and it disappeared!
I'm a little depressed--my Ohio State Buckeyes lost. : ( Actually, the team didn't show up as far as I'm concerned. Also, I finally got enough courage to step on the scale. I am now the heaviest I've been in almost 5 years! I am so disgusted with myself. I knew that I had hit the sweets hard over the holidays and also because of my back problem, I wasn't exercising as hard. I need some encouragement!!! Susan, I agree with Melissa. I don't know if I would do well meeting folks on the Internet. Sorry the date didn't have the chemistry, but a good male friend is a good thing. Yes, that chocolate in the house has got to go. In fact, I'm throwing it away when I get home. Melissa, Your weather is turning, I see. We had temps in the low 50's this morning and wind. It's very different here today. |
Lisa: Don't be so hard on yourself. You can and will get back on track, and you need to be kind to yourself while doing so. Slow and steady, one meal at a time. We can do this. I keep wanting to get a little challenge going - want to see if we can lose 5 lbs by Feb. 14th?
Melissa: Cooler here today too but still not really cold. We had a wicked rain storm last nite. I almost started to cry walking to my car after my gym workout. I had to cross the street in a wind tunnel and the rain was coming in sheets and nearly knocked me over. Don't think I've ever been out in anything like that. I don't cry easily, by the way (at least not because of the weather). Hi everyone else who is MIA. Susan |
Susan, okay I'll take the challenge. I can do that! It's difficult not to be mad at myself because I did it to myself!!
Sorry about the wicked rainstorm, that had to be bad to make you cry. |
Good stuff Lisa. I will go by tomorrow morning's weight since I think it may better reflect where I truly am. Don't want to make it too attainable or I won't form any new and lasting good habits.
Any other lifers want to join us? Susan |
I was talking to another Lifer here at work. She also has had weight gain in the past two months and is so mad at herself. She said the other day she had to put away her skinny clothes. I don't want to get to that point. Right now my clothes are tight (except when I wear stretch band slacks). ; )
My friend also said that she did not get weighed last month because she knew it would be bad, so she had to pay. I don't want to do that either. She attributed her gain to lack of exercise and lack of portion control. I noticed that my good habits had gone out the window this past month. I was ordering fried foods (I don't really like them). I also drank too many mixed drinks (I'm not a big fan of them). So why??? |
Susan, Lisa: Add me to the challenge! I'm all for it--I need something to get back on track and to get rid of the fluff I've managed to acquire.
The temps here have plummeted down to 26! Geesh! It's been really windy and the snow has caused some problems in the snow belt area--thankfully here at the lakeshore we haven't had much just a couple of inches. My sinuses are causing me some trouble--I've had a sore throat the last couple of days from the back drip and this morning my voice is a little hoarse. I'm thinking I'm only going to work this morning and go home this afternoon to rest. I need to feel good for the weekend since we're going out of town to a wedding! I'm going for my WI at noon and like you, Susan, that's where I'll start. I'm due for TOM early next week so that may play a factor today but whatever it is, it is. I wonder where everyone else is??? Susan: I don't like it when it's raining/blowing so hard you can't see; I probably would've been reduced to tears especially with the way my hormones have been lately. |
Thin4Life Valentine's Day Challenge
Ok folks. I pledge to lose 5 lbs by Feb. 14th. I will weigh-in and record my progress on Wednesdays.
Susan start weight: 148.5 goal: 143.5 |
Hi ladies,
It's cold here today too but tomorrow back up to the mid 40's and 50 by Friday. No snow in the forecast which makes me very :carrot: . I think I mentioned to you that I joined the winter meltdown here at work. The first weigh in was today and I was DOWN 3 1/4 lbs! I was very happy but I know that was the fluff I gained over the holidays. This week will be much harder but I know I can do it. I've got about 7lbs to go to get to my happy place so sign me up for the challenge also! Susan sorry you got hit with the rain storm, weather like that scares me too! Since my weigh ins at work are on Wednesday also that will work out well for me. I have to figure out how to put one of the weight loss counters at the bottom of my posts like you have. Unfortunately I'm not very computer savvy. Lisa Don't worry that fluff will come off quickly. I did the same thing as you over the holidays and got into some bad eating (and drinking) habits. Time to rein it in...we can do it! Hope your back is feeling better! My shoulder is feeling much better and I'm now down to once a week with Physical therapy. Melissa I hope you're home resting now. Take care of yourself there's a lot of cold, flu stuff going around. I brought Lauren to the doc yesterday..we thought she had strep throat but fortunately it was not. I hear you on the hormonal issues, same with me...what the heck is going on, I find myself on the brink of tears for no reason at all.... Not too much going on here. Kind of quiet..hope it lasts. Talk to you later. Hi to Lala hope all is well. |
OK, I'm in for the challenge. I actually want to lose more, but I'll put 5 pounds for now. I also do not know how to put in the weight counter. It can't be too hard.
Melissa, yikes you're having much colder weather. Sorry about the throat. When I get a cold or sinus or anything, that's where it goes--right to the throat. Being a singer that is not a good thing. Yes, rest up especially if you have a "do" this weekend. Susan, thanks for getting us going on this challenge. Pam, good to hear from you again. You are really on the way with weight loss. Good for you. What exactly is the winter meltdown? Speaking of hormones, my hot flashes and night sweats are at their all-time worst ever. I had been taking a natural product that had cut them down to maybe 2 a day and I was thrilled. I've been taking it for about a year. Well...this past month has been horrible. I contacted the company and they told me to stop taking it and then start up again. Believe it or not that helped--not sure why, but they're not nearly as bad. It was so bad that I didn't know what clothes to wear. One minute I'm freezing and the next, sweat is pouring off of me. I refuse to take hormones, so this is life I guess. I heard that there are women out there who never have them (wow!) I've also heard about women (my mother included) who have them into their 70's. I just ordered another product that is a little different from the one I've been taking and I hope it will help me even more. My husband is amazed because most of the time, I'm cold. He complains that it's too hot in the house, etc. Well, now I'm turning up the air conditioner and the ceiling fans. Then I get cold--what a vicious cycle. As far as teary outbursts, I had those a couple years ago, but not lately. Thank God for that. |
Whoops, forgot to list my stats.
Start weight: 173 Goal weight: 168 (or more) |
Testing to see if my weight counter works.
