Default Limited time

Now that the kids are out of school for summer, I can't devote an hour to weight training like I usually do. I have been doing lower body 2x per week and upper 1x per week and each workout is approx. 50 minutes or so. I think I will try a split workout and would like to do it everyday for maybe 20-30 minutes. Cardio will happen whenever I get a chance (bike riding with the kids, on the trampoline etc...). I was looking at Ilene's split workout from a previous post I did and would like to try that but am wondering if I can do this in under 30 minutes a day??? Any suggestions? I feel guilty spending so much time on my workouts when I should be spending more time with the family

I used to feel guilty too when the kids were young, but please don't... Once I got over the guilt I felt better about doing my workouts. ONE measly hour out of a waking day of at least 16 hours isn't much to devote to your physical and mental health. You NEED that ''ME'' time away from the kids. I doubt if our DHs ever felt guilty because they don't spend ''X'' number of hours/day with the kids. Just make sure the time you do spend with them is QUALITY time.

I can't remember if you go to a gym or if you do your workouts at home? When the kids were young I used to get up at 4:30AM to get to the gym by 5-5:30 in order to have it out of the way for the rest of the day. Granted I had to go to bed early 9PM or so, but the kids barely noticed my absence cause they were sleeping in the morning and DH was home till 7:30am... The kiddies were always in bed by 7:30-8:00PM anyways, I always made sure of that... In the evenings I also had time for myself a bath, reading or whatever. My DH was and is still extremely helpful around the house though, thank gawd for that...

Splits don't take very long though if you are in a gym, or even at home... 45-50 mins in the gym and I'm outta there....when I don't too much...

Gumby, you could also have a look on www.stumptuous.com. Krista has tips for workouts for the time pressed (like she is herself).

Good luck
