Anybody have a good full body stretch routine?

  • Hook a chica up. THX.

    And happy new year.
  • I do have a daily stretch routine that stretches all parts of my body, but I'm not sure how to explain it to you. Perhaps you could google "stretches" and see if you could find a stretch routine with visuals?
  • I find the best all over body stretch is the Sun Salutation done at the start of all Yoga classes... Google Sun Salutation and you'll get all kinds of info...
  • Just found a great site with step by step instructoins for the Sun Salutation
  • I meant like a full routine. Will google. Took the lazy way out : )
  • I have about a 10 min cooldown/stretch, but it would take too long to type it out, kwim? It starts with a straddle stretch and split straddle and then I move up the body. I got mine from what the stretch used to be at the end of an aerobics class - could you slip into a group class at your gym and even if you just slip in for the cooldown, then copy what they do?

You have to do the Salutation ten times and THAT is a full routine and a great stretch, it just doesn't look like much
  • I do yoga, and I know what you mean, but that won't serve my purpose here. Looking for stretches for post workout to prevent injury.
  • Since you are going to a gym, have you checked their class schedule. My gym tends to now favour Yoga but they still occasionally offer a class called "stretch". I guess you're not looking for anything that long but when I used to go, it was my favourite hour at the gym. An amazing full body relaxing stretch. Otherwise the suggestion to copy the end of most classes was a good one. But you have a trainer - is he no help?
  • My time with my trainer is focused on training. Stretching is on my own.
  • i get the benefit of being stretched by my personal trainer...she is in sports medicine...and the last 5 min of our workout...she personally stretches me and gets very good deep streches. Its well worth missing out 5 min of wt lifting. I think its important for stretch..why don't you ask your personal trainer for some good stretches...you're paying him/her for that. they are suppose to know that stuff. They had to pass a test that included that stuff. Maybe ask your PT if they could show you some good stretchees on your next workout...take 5 min out..it is very important. i personally feel that learning proper stretches are just as important as training. Just ask..your paying them...it really shouldn't be a problem. I actually do 5-10 min of yoga afer every workout and i find i get great streches.
  • They might actually have some handouts printed up at the gym that they could give you too, like they way they do with those weight lifting and cardio charts they give everyone.
