Surgery date!
 

I haven't been around in FOREVER, but I just wanted to say that I'm having my gastric bypass (r-n-y, laparoscopic) on October 18 in South San Francisco. And lo, the panic sets in. It's funny, I've been in their programme for almost 3 years, and have gone through SO much crap with them and thought I'd never be scheduled (what with health issues and losing my first surgeon and such) and now, I get the phone call today and suddenly feel not ready. Silly. Anyway, I'll be perusing all the past messages for inspiration and such... eek! :eek:

o WOW!!!!!!!! this is wonderful news! kaiser permanente is one tough HMO to deal with - and you've outlasted them! congratulations!

so, what's at the top of your mind these days? what's scaring you the most?

You know, it isn't the surgery itself freaking me out... it's afterwards. And it isn't "missing food" or anything, I'm just really worried that I have everything I need and take care of myself correctly, etc. The surgery itself is weird, never having had general anasthesia before, but yeah... I just want to make sure I do everything I'm supposed to and have everything. To be honest, I'm kinda freaked about making myself throw up by accident, I haaate vomiting (not like anyone likes it, but you know).

My surgeon is a total doll, though. Still young enough to be human, great "bedside" manner, very nice, funny, sense of humor, etc. I have great faith in him. :)
