I have an appointment with my pcp to break the news to her that I want WLS. I don't know how she will react, but I've gathered my research, my insurance will cover it, and have already had my consultation with the surgeon. I'm not sure she will be supportive of my decision. How did you break the news to your pcp? Was he/she supportive? If not, what did you do next?
I was concerned about the same thing . I went in & laid it on the table . He asked me many questions , was satisfied that I had educated myself properly . He asked me what surgeon I'd chosen & was very pleased with my choice . And then he hugged me ! I had been so worried as he is very conservative . He was great . Just be to the point & act confident .
I just told my PCP I wanted it done and he was very excited for me b/c I have tried and tried to lose weight with his supervision. He's a cool doctor for sure.
Fortunately, I didn't have to get clearance from my PCP to have it done because of the way my insurance works. I didn't really have a PCP I saw much, so when I went to find a doctor after my surgery, I pretty much interviewed him to make sure he would be on the same page I am about surgery. I've always figured I know my body and history better than the doctor does. I also reminded myself that the PCP basically works for us, so if the doctor wasn't a fan of WLS, I would find a doctor who was. Good luck!

My doc was not so supportive and treated me like a criminal however she agreed to do the weighins
I came in with the name of a great doc with a great rep and 22 years of dieting history
she weighed me said blah blah blah doing it with food witch witch moan moan then agreed
Good News! My pcp says "yes"! I'm on my way to onederland!
