Healing Time/ Drains

Just wondering how long it took everyone to heal from their tummy surgeries? (I am getting a tt next month). Also, has anyone had drains? What's the deal with them?

I had drains in after full open gall bladder surgery. They were in for 5 days. They felt disgusting being pulled out, not painful, but 7 years on I can still mentally experience the sensation! I didn't have any issues with my drains, except I kept getting up to go for walks and had to carry the drain bottles in a bag and drag my iv along behind me, I looked like someone out of MASH!

My cut took about 6 weeks to heal completely, and I still have a good scar, but it's quite pale now and not that bad.

I had drains for more than three months with my last surgery. It depends on many factors in terms of your drain time.
