SHARMEL UPDATE!! No news is good news!

  • Shar is still in the CCU, the flush performed yesterday went well and she appears to be healing to the surgeons liking. She spent a few hours on the vent after the procedure due to her body being too weak to sustain itself. She is off now and the goal is to monitor her over the weekend. If her incision continues to drain and her stats remain solid, then he will go back in on monday to do another flush and visually inspect the gastric union. If things look good on monday, we can then look fwd to pulling the various tubes and working on nutritional things. We are not looking too far ahead, we are just hoping to get through the weekend, let her body do some healing and her get some much needed rest. She is doing the best she can, the hospital is doing everything they can to make her as comfortable as possible. They realize that they are not used to "long term" patients and thus are having to think outside the box to accomodate her. I will continue to keep folks updated and lets pray for no news this weekend.

    Thanks!
    Eric (DH)
  • I remember when she wrote and told us that she was having the surgery in a few days, and how much I prayed for her, and to now hear that she had complications but is doing better everyday makes me so sad but please let her know that she will be in my prayers and I will also take her name to the alter on Sunday.

    God bless
  • THANK YOU for the update. it's actually good news. a weekend of rest wll certainly help her, and the fact that they're thinking outside the box to give her the RIGHT care is sooo important.

prayers and warm wishes still coming!!
  • Eric, thank you for updating us. You can count on our prayers.

    Hugs and Kisses
  • My thoughts are with you both and I hope all goes well and Sharmel will be home soon.

    Take care
  • Its very, very good news. Remember, when things become this complicated sometimes just holding ground is a miracle. Take time for yourself Eric to process some of what you are NO DOUBT feeling. Remember to care for your own needs in this too. Sleep. Eat. Talk to whomever you can about what you're both going through. You're being so strong for her and your positive thoughts and support will make a huge difference.

Sharmel may not remember me from here at all or any of my story but I really, really want to say to her 'it wont always be like it is now'. She will get through. Because you need her to and all of those who love her need her to. Make that love be her anchor.

I'll be checking in more often to keep up.
  • Hoping to hear more news soon.
