First Appt today
 

Ok, so I have my first appointment today to find out if I can get surgery and to find out which one is best for me. I have been reading so much about both types of surgery - good and bad stuff - and I just can't get enough information. I am so obsessed with this and I want to do this so badly, but I tell ya, I read some of your stories and I can't believe how much you have had to go thru to get where you are today. It's amazing what some of you have gone thru!! My hat's off to you!!

I was at a site yesterday reading a story about a woman who has had this surgery, and I was just amazed. One thing I really notice about everyone's story is the change in the tone of the entries as time goes by. Just about every story I've read, whether it was a success or not, the writer has learned so much about themselves. It truly is a journey.

I know that I am ready to take this journey and can't wait to find out what the doc has to say today. Hopefully my insurance doesn't take forever to approve the surgery. Has anyone had any major stumbling blocks because of insurance? What kind of advice do you have for getting over these blocks?

My advice for getting through the insurance crap is to load up on margaritas! Lots and lots of them!

Have you called your insurance company yet to see what they cover? My insurance company (United Healthcare) is great about covering WLS, but they made me wait for eight very long weeks to hear whether I was approved or not. I did call them every so often just to see where they were in the process, but depending on who I talked to, there was always a different answer.

So, patience and persistence is my advice. Oh yeah, and margaritas!
