  • An update from Kim's DH
    "Hi Linda,

I just got home, and Kim seemed in good spirits when I left her. She
had been up and done four laps around the nurse's station, and was
having a little discomfort with the port, but essentially nothing
else was bothering her greatly. Tomorrow I'm picking up the kids and
the dog and then at noontime we're picking up
Kim's mom and going to see Kim again.

Her room is much nicer, the food is excellent, and she's in pretty
good spirits. Tomorrow morning at "some time" they'll do a swallow
test (upper GI with a bit of barium to make sure nothing's clogged
up) then start her on clear liquids and then work her way up to
eating real food. Not clear right now if she'll be going home
tomorrow night, but I suspect she'll stay one more night and we'll
    bring her home Friday morning.

I'll probably taker her laptop and a cable in so she can do Email
    tomorrow afternoon.

    More news as it happens!"

  • Thank you -L for posting for me and thank you all for your great wishes. I got home this morning and have had a nap and a shower and am feeling much better. The port area is still tender and I'm still very bloated with gas but I'm working on moving it along

Never in a million years did I think 8 oz of anything would be so hard to consume! I have almost finished one 8 oz serving of Nectar (25 g of protein) but I'm not sure I'll be able to manage two. Ah well, there's always tomorrow.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and I'll let you know how I'm doing.
  • congratulations! and relax. everything will come in time. it's a learning process, along with a wee bit of time for healing.

    enjoy your holidays!!!!
